Soulmates

Brian's POV

I woke up in the middle of the night and didn't find Sierra by my side . Frowning , I went downstairs , and spotted her sleeping silently on the couch . She looked so beautiful as she just laid there , her breathing steady and calm . I sat down to the floor , and started caressing her face . Her skin felt so soft against my fingers , and I couldn't help the smile that found its way on my lips as her lips formed one as well .

I realised she was shivering , slightly , and mentally cursed myself for not noticing that earlier . So I rushed upstairs and found a nice , soft blanket . I walked downstairs and covered her with it , careful not to wake her up . After I was sure that she wasn't cold anymore , I went back at staring at her . There was no point in me trying to get any sleep , it would be morning soon . So I just stood there , taking in all her beauty .

She looked perfect . She was like a miracle in my life , and I would in no way allow anyone or anything to take her away from me . Last night was a mistake , I knew she didn't mean it . I had already forgiven her , even though I hadn't let her know yet . But I'd do the moment she woke up ...

I'd wrap her in my arms , kiss her with everything I had in me to let her know that it was okay now , that our time together is much too precious to waste on fights . That I knew she was hurting as much as I did last night . That seeing her in pain took its toll on me . I'd let her know how much in love I was with her ...

So , the moment I saw the sun rising , I got to my feet , got dressed really quickly , took my keys and left the house . I was going to get her flowers , because I wanted this morning to be perfect for her , like some scene that came out of one of these sappy-romantic films I knew she secretly loved watching . I was going to make everything perfect for her ...
I reached a flower shop , and got the surprise of my life .. The place was full of what seemed like thousands of flowers , all different colours and shapes .. I was lost I had no idea what to pick .

Don't get me wrong , during my past relationships I had bought numerous flowers to my girlfriends , but I'd usually get them roses , red or purple ... This time , however , I knew that Sierra wasn't really keen on roses ; '' Too usual and '' overplayed '' '' , those were the exact words she had used to describe roses ... And I agreed with her , seeing that everyone got the same flowers for their significant other every now and then , but I kind of understood the reason now ! Picking the right flowers to buy to someone whom you cared for was really confusing , since everything looked too pretty , but on the same time not enough ..

'' May I help you with something ? '' a voice came from behind me and I jumped in surprise as I spotted an old lady , probably the owner of the place ...

'' Uhm ... Yeah ... I want to get some flowers ... '' I said , probably sounding like a retard , since I was in a flower shop for Christ's sake ... The old lady replied with a light chuckle ..

'' I know , dear , that's the reason why you got in a flower shop ... '' and I nodded ... '' well , do you have anything in mind ? '' she asked ..

'' No , I mean all I know is that I want them to be special ... And that I don't want roses .. '' I said and she nodded ..

'' Tell me some things about her ... What she means to you ... '' , she said and I sighed . I've never been good with having to explain my feelings to someone , let alone a complete stranger ...

'' Well , she's really beautiful ... The most beautiful thing on earth . She can make me smile just by opening her eyes and looking at me . My heart beats faster when she's around ... and when I hold her in my arms ... '' I left it there , knowing that the old woman understood what I was saying ..

'' You are in love ... How long have you known her for ? ''

'' Only for some months really , but it was like - '' I started saying ..

'' Love at first sight ... '' she completed the sentence for me and I nodded with a smile ..

'' Yeah , exactly ... And yesterday we fought , for the first time really , and I just want to let her know that I forgive her ... to make her understand that I only wish to see her smile again .. '' I finished and she nodded quickly ...

'' Oh I think I have just the perfect thing for you ... just wait for a second ... '' she said and disappeared again ...

I stood in the middle of the shop and looked around me for a few minutes before the old lady emerged holding a scissor . She moved towards a basket full of red flowers . She chopped 3 or 4 out of there , and moved towards another basket full of some diferrent red flowers .. She continued moving from basket to basket for some minutes until she stopped and headed towards a large table . She set the flowers on it , and started designing the bouquet ...

'' Red Camellias , '' she said as she lifted the red flowers she had cut first .. '' say that she is the fire , the flame inside you ... and red Chrysanthemums say that you are in love with her with everything in you ... Oleanders point her beauty and grace ... and these '' she stopped before picking the purple flowers she had set aside .

'' ... are Loxinias , and they symbolize love at first sight ... '' she finished with a smile , and I couldn't help but smile back , seeing the bouquet looked really beautiful .

After she finished preparing the bouquet she handed it to me . I paid for it and started making my way out when she called ..

'' And sir ... '' she started and I turned around again to look at her ..

'' Keep your love alive , no matter what , love is the only flower that grows and blossoms without the aid of season ... You are lucky to have found it ... '' she said ...

'' And how would you know I've found it ? '' I asked surprised ...

'' I believe you have found it .. '' she simply replied with a smile .. '' Have a nice day .. ''

'' You too ... '' I replied while exiting the shop . I started making my way back to my house quickly , hoping that Sierra hadn't woken up yet .

It was really early and almost not a single person was out in the street . However I spotted a car coming towards me , its' speed increasing .

I tried avoiding it , but I failed , and felt my whole body toss in the air before hitting the concrete road .

I lost concience for some seconds before I slowly regained my senses and seering pain rushed through every single part of my body . I could feel the scratches , the blood gushing from my nose and mouth , my ribs aching ; I could feel everything . It felt like a truck had run me over , which was the truth to some extent ..

I tried opening my eyes , however the moment I came close to achieving that I felt a bullet going straight in my shoulder . I cried out in pain , and tried getting myself up in order to somehow defend myself , an act I soon realised was pointless as I was unable to move anything .

I took some breaths before finally managing to open my eyes . My vision was blurry , and I could feel my senses leaving my body again . I struggled to keep my eyes open for a few seconds more , though , just in order to catch a glimpse of the tall person now standing over me ..

He kneeled down in front of me , his face only centimetres away from my bloody one . He leaned forward to my ear , and let out a chuckle ...

'' W-what ar-r-e y-you laugh-h-ing a-a-t ? '' I stuttered , and let out a muffled cry as he pressed his hand over my bleeding shoulder and stood away from me again . He reached next to me , where the , now ruined , bouquet of flowers laid , and grabbed one , before standing up and looking at me . He tossed the flower over my body , and then leaned to my ear once again ...

'' Save this for the Grim - Reaper ... '' , he said to my ear before standing up and heading towards the car , not forgetting to kick me in the ribs prior to that , causing me to groan out in pain ...

I could feel my eyes getting heavy , I could feel the warmness of my body leaving me , and I didn't have a clue what to do . I tried staying awake , but knew it was pointless . I grabbed one of the flowers that now were everywhere around me , smiling when I recognised it was a Gloxinia .

'' Love at first sight ... '' I mubled a whisper , before darkness surrounded everything around me ...
