Admiring From Afar

At around 11:30, Cassandra woke up and got dressed and put on her make up. She was so happy that her burn had gotten a lot better and she no longer had to have her hand wrapped with gauze. Today was the day that she was going to go shopping with her friends for birthday presents. Once she finished getting ready she went downstairs for a quick breakfast. She found her father down there reading his newspaper and Kelsey eating Coco Puffs. When she walked to the table her father looked up and smiled at her.

“Good morning,” he told her with a genuine smile.

“Morning,” she replied to her dad.

She got a bowl out of the cupboard and a spoon out of the drawer. She sat down next to her sister and poured herself a cup of cereal with a little bit of milk.

“So, your mother moved all of her stuff out last night,” her father informed her.

“Okay,” Cassandra told him.

“Why is mommy’s stuff gone?” Kelsey asked her father.

“Well, honey, your mommy decided that she doesn’t want to live with us anymore,” her father told the little girl.

“Why?” Kelsey asked her dad.

“Well, your mommy decided that she didn’t like your daddy anymore and decided to leave,” he told her.

“Oh,” Kelsey said quietly and she resumed eating.

“Kelsey, do you want to go to the mall with me?” Cassandra asked her sister.

“Mall! With who?” Kelsey asked her.

“Jordan and Ana,” Cassandra told her with a smile, “you like them right?”

“Can I?” Kelsey asked her dad.

“Sure,” he told her while smiling.

“YAY!” Kelsey finished eating her cereal and ran up to her room to get dressed.

“So, I’ve decided to spend more time at home,” Cassandra’s dad told her once Kelsey was out of the room.

“That’s cool,” Cassandra said, “why?”

“Because I realized that I don’t spend as much time as I should with you or Kelsey and with your mom out of the picture I think that it would be better,” he told her.

“Okay,” Cassandra told him.

Cassandra ate her cereal in a silence.

“Well, I’m going to go brush my teeth and then I’m gone,” she told her father.

“Have a nice trip honey,” her father told her.

“Thanks,” Cassandra said awkwardly. Her father never said those sorts of things to her. I guess I’m going to have to get used to it. Cassandra thought to herself.

Cassandra quickly brushed her teeth and got Kelsey and off they went to pick up Ana and Jordan.

Ana, Jordan Marie, and Cass had all gotten presents for Alex and Rian and Kelsey even got them both a little something. Right now they were at Cassandra’s house wrapping the presents and Kelsey was drawing pictures for both Rian and Alex to go along with her presents.

“So, I really hope that Rian likes his present,” Ana said while she wrapping the pair of drumsticks that she had gotten for him.

“He will, he’ll also use them,” Jordan told her friend.

“Yeah, and he’ll like how you customized them with Sharpies,” Cassandra pointed out.

“Yeah, I got him a pretty kickass present didn’t I?” Ana said to herself.

The girls had been to about ten different stores on a hunt to find the boys the perfect presents. Cassandra got Rian the pair of sneakers that he had been wanting for a while along with another pair of cargo shorts that seemed to be into now. She had gotten Alex a new beanie to wear and a package of guitar picks which she colored on and doodled. Ana had gotten Alex the DVD set of the show he had been watching lately and she got Rian the drumsticks that she had personalized with his name and their band name and couple of doodles. Jordan had gotten her boyfriend a scrapbook that she was filling with picture and she made sure to leave some pages empty so that they could add to it, she also got him two tickets to the Six Flags because she thought it would be fun to go there together. She had gotten Rian the new Blink-182 album and a new watch. All of the girls were also going to make the two boys their favorite dessert which just happened to be chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies. Kelsey had gotten a leather bracelet for Alex that she said matched his eyes and a shirt that had a big cartoon grizzly bear on it that she said reminded her of Rian because he was comfy and warm like a bear.

After they finished wrapping the presents they decided to hide them in Cassandra’s dad’s room so that the boys wouldn’t find them if they came over.

Suddenly there was a knock on Cassandra’s door.

“Come in,” Cassandra sad towards the door.

The door opened and revealed her father.

“I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to stay home so you can go out if you want,” he told her.

“Oh, thanks,” Cassandra told him with a smile.

“Hi girls,” he said towards Ana and Jordan.

“Hi Mr. Knowles,” they replied in unison.

“Please, call me Viktor,” her father replied, “well, I’ll just leave you girls to whatever you were doing before. Kelsey, do you want to watch a movie with daddy?”

Kelsey got up off of Cassandra’s bed and ran to the door.

“Can we watch Ariel?” Kelsey asked her dad.

“Whatever you want sweetie,” he told her with a smile.

“YAY!” Kelsey ran downstairs and Cassandra’s dad just closed Cass’s door and left them.

“Wow, you weren’t kidding when you said that he had changed,” Ana said while staring at the door.

“Yeah, and it’s a good change so it’s all good. I’m just glad that he’s changing for Kelsey,” Cassandra told them.

Jordan and Ana agreed.

“So, do you want to go over to my house?” Jordan asked them, “we could invite the guys.”

“I’m game,” Cassandra said.

“Yeah that sounds good,” Ana replied.

They were all in the middle of a game of Twister, which you know could get dirty very fast.

“I’ve got a pretty sweet view,” Alex said while staring at Cass’s chest.

“Hey!” Cassandra said in protest. She tried moving to make her chest less visible but it wasn’t working.

“You’re just making the view better and better when you move like that babe,” Alex told her while smirking.

“Ugh,” Cassandra said in protest.

“Alex, why do you have to be such an asshole?” Jordan asked her boyfriend.

“Don’t worry honey, I like your better,” Alex looked over at her and winked.

“Thanks,” Cassandra said while rolling her eyes.

“Don’t worry honey, I like yours the best,” Zack told her from behind her.

“Thanks,” Cassandra said to him, “see at least someone appreciates by boobs.”

“Uh, I was talking about your ass but I like your chest too,” Zack told her.

“I never said I didn’t like them, I just said that I like my girlfriend’s better. That’s what a boyfriend’s supposed to say right?” Alex asked.

“Whatever,” Cassandra told them.

“Left hand on yellow!” Rian told them since he was the spinner.

Cassandra tried to make her left hand reach a yellow circle but as she was about to touch it she felt a hard pressure on her back and collapsed on the floor.

“Sorry, guys,” she told them.

“It’s cool,” Jack said while rubbing his head which looked like it had bumped into Ana’s head when everybody went down.

“Well, I have to go. It’s getting late and I need my beauty sleep,” Cassandra joked with them.

“Yeah, and we all know that she needs all the sleep she can get,” Alex joked.

“Meanie,” Cassandra said while pouting.

“It’s okay honey, I think your already too beautiful,” Zack told her while kissing her forehead.

“Thanks,” she told him while hugging him.

She waved to everybody and got into her car and drove home.
