I'd Lie

Twelve years earlier

I was laughing, running from my best friend. "You can't catch me, Nicky!" I yelled, but knew he was close behind.
"Oh, yeah?" he responded.
"Yeah!" I piped, running behind a tree. Just then, I felt someone grab my waist from behind.
"I caught you!" he smiled mischievously.
"That's no fair, Nicky!" I pouted.
"Yeah, it is!" he laughed and I joined in.

Ten years earlier

"Maddie, I made this for you" said Nick, handing me something.
I gasped. "Nicky, I love it!"
He smiled. I could have sworn he blushed. "I'm glad you like it."
Like it? I loved it! "Do you have one?" I asked curiously.
"Yeah," he said, "it looks like yours!"
I smiled as he showed me the bracelet wrapped around his wrist.
"It's the best friendship bracelet ever!" I hugged him and my face went red.

Eight years earlier

"You sign first," I smiled.
"Okay, I want a copy," he smiled back, while blushing.
"Me too! I'll never loose it!" I blushed back.

Five years earlier

I was talking through my tears, stuttering like crazy. "D-Denise, N-Nick it's gonna d-die, is he?"
"Oh, sweetie," she said, wrapping her warm arms around me. "Nick's strong."
I saw a tear fall.
"You know he can get through this." She sounded sure of her word.
I sniffled. "Yeah, I-I know," I spoke, letting a tear fall.
Denise looked down at me, wiped my tear and kissed my head. Nick always did that when I was upset. "It's okay, sweetie. It's okay."

Four years earlier

"Maddie, I'm sorry." He wasn't lying.
"It's not fair!" I broke out. "You can't leave me!" I couldn't help but cry.
"I know. I don't wanna." He said those words easier then I could. He hugged me and started to cry with me.
"I'm gonna miss you, Nick," I sniffled out.
He sniffed and said "I'm gonna miss you, too, Maddie." He kissed my forehead.
I smiled at his touch. "Don't let the fame monster come get you, okay?"
He laughed through his tears. "I won't."
"Don't forget me, please?" It sounded stupid, but I didn't want to be forgotten.
"I wouldn't wanna," he said naturally.
I pulled away and wiped my tears. "Here," I said and gave him my bracelet. "Keep it."
His eyes widened and he opened his mouth to speak. "Maddie, I-"
I cut him off as I put my finger to his mouth. "Please. Just come back soon."
"I will. I'll be yours forever."

Present

My name is Maddie Uhler and my used-to-be best friend has turned onto the wrong path. Yes. My best friend is (or was) Nick 'The Bad Boy' Jonas. He promised me he wouldn't change. He promised me that he was mine..... forever.
