Promises We Meant to Make

Isaac Bashevis Singer once said "Every creator painfully experiences the chasm between his inner vision and its ultimate expression. The chasm is never completely bridged. We all have the conviction, perhaps illusory, that we have much more to say than appears on paper."

Henry Thomas needed to write. This time there was no deadline, no dull story, no quotes by painfully dim-witted people. Henry needed to write for himself, and he needed to write for her.

He couldn't find the words. Never could, actually, but this time he needed to. He needed to tell her how he felt, he needed to hear her laugh, he needed her to be with him once again. But she was gone. And she wasn't coming back.

Henry thought about her, and he started writing.
