Seventeen
I played with the holes in my jeans as I watched my phone. My mom had texted me, saying dad was going to call. I was scared.
What was I supposed to tell him? What if he knew Adam and I were dating?
I coulda wrote down, nev-
I grabbed my phone quickly, and answered. I pressed it to my ear. "Hello?" I asked nervously.
"Dillon, why didn't you ask?" My dad shouted. I held the phone away, wincing a little.
"I thought I did." I said honestly. I could almost hear him rolling his eyes.
"Oh really?" He asked. Standing up, I walked to the bunk area and sat on one of the bottom beds.
"Yeah. But when I texted you, someone changed your name with Adam's, so I ended up just texting him." I muttered. Please don't come through the phone and kill me.
"A likely story. Why didn't you call?"
I chewed my lip a little. "I didn't want you to yell..." I said awkwardly. He just sighed.
"When are you going to be back?" He asked after a long silence. I shrugged before realizing he couldn't see me.
"I think a month or so. I'm not sure exactly." I watched James walk by as I spoke. He glanced at me but kept walking.
"I want you home. I don't trust them alone with you." He said. I could hear a chair move. He probably stood up.
"Well," I laughed a little to try and lighten the mood. "I'm actually dati--"
"Who?" He inturupted. I waited for a minute.
"Adam." I said finally, hugging my knees to myself with my free arm.
"What? He's the oldest one!" Dad shouted. I rolled my eyes.
"Dad," I started.
"Well maybe not, but he's still old." He muttered. I laughed.
"We haven't done anything bad." I tried making it a bit better.
"I hope not! But you're 18, and he's 32." He groaned. I nodded to myself.
"I know, but we still haven't done it." I said awkwardly. I don't wanna talk about sex with my dad!
"Good. Don't." He said. I smirked a little.
"I won't. I promise." I stood up, and slowly walked to the kitchen. "I gotta go though. I love you daddy."
"I love you too, please come home soon." He sighed.
"I'll try." I promised.
