Burn To Ashes With Me And Let The Wind Take Us Away

Silence Is The Most Powerful Scream

One Week Later

I bolted up, awake and covered in a cold sweat. Ever since Ryan left I've been having horrible nightmares about the day I shot his dad.

Some nights I'd wake up screaming other nights I'd wake to Frankie shaking me.

I looked over at the window and saw that it was light out. Which was good because it meant I had slept the whole night for the first time since he left.

"I can do this," I whispered to myself.

I sat up and stared at the window for a while longer.

After a while I forgot I was staring at the window so I lost track of time.

"Lexy?" I heard Frankie ask, which snapped me out of my little daze.

I looked over at her, "Good morning."

She smiled, "Afternoon, muffin."

I shrugged, "Oh."

"Why don't you come into the kitchen and get some coffee?"

I rolled out of bed, "That would be nice."

I sat down at the small table in the kitchen and sipped my coffee.

"Where's Alexxx and Kris?" I asked.

She shrugged, "Out."

"Oh."

It was silent again so I just looked around the kitchen, which I had never really done before. I mean, yeah, I've looked around, but not in detail.

On the fridge there was a picture of Frankie as a little girl and there was a boy in the picture also. The more I looked at the picture, the more I realized the boy was Ryan.

I sighed, I wanted him to come back to us, where he belonged.

"You okay?" Frankie asked.

I looked at her and nodded, "Yeah, of course."

She smiled, "You're a horrible liar."

I smiled back at her, "I know."

Lying was never my thing.

The phone rang, once, twice, and then stopped.

"I wonder who that was," Frankie mumbled.

I shrugged, "Probably some freak with hair."

I sat on the couch, staring at the door, waiting for Alexxx to come home so he could remind me that I'm a fighter.

Frankie was running around the house, cleaning, for some reason.

Maybe she cleaned when she was sad? No, that wasn't it because when Kris left for a while she just made messes.

"Why are you cleaning?" I asked.

"Because if you guys get the house, then we're moving. So the place needs to be clean so we can pack."

"I guess that makes sense."

She nodded and picked up some dirty socks.

Right as she walked into the kitchen Alexxx and Kris walked into the house.

I looked at Alexxx and he looked at me with a huge smile on his face. What was he smiling about anyway?

"We got it!"

"Really?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Yay," I said with no emotion. I was happy, but nothing matters now that I'm Ryan-less.

Alexxx came over and sat by me, "Cheer up, Lexy."

I pouted, "I can't."

He rolled his eyes, "Yeah, you can. I know you're sad because your boyfriend had to move, but it's not the end of the world. You will see him again so be happy about that and the fact that we can now move outta this dump."

"Fine," I said.

He smiled and patted my back, "That's my girl."

I gave him my rawr face and he just laughed.

"Lexy!" Frankie yelled as I sat in our room packing things.

"Yeah?" I yelled back.

"Phone!"

I sighed, it was probably just my mum or something.

"Coming!" I yelled and then I ran to the kitchen.

Frankie handed me the phone with a small smile playing on her lips.

I stuck my tongue out at her and then said, "Hello?"

"Lexy," a boy said.

"Ryan!"

"Hey, babe," I could her the smile in his voice.

"I miss you."

"I miss you too."

"So," I said.

He laughed, "So Frankie told me about how you guys got the house and I'm going to call my social worker once I get off the phone with you guys to see if I could have Kris as my guardian instead of these people here."

"Oh my God! Really?"

"Yeah, really."

"Do you think she'll let you?"

"I'm not sure, babe, but we'll never know until we try."

I smiled, "Okay."

"I gatta go so I can call her," Ryan said.

I pouted, "Okay, I love you."

"I love you too, Lexy."

I hung up the phone and did a little jig.

Alexxx gave me a look and asked, "What are you so happy about?"

"Ry might be coming back!" I screamed.

Alexxx smiled and then continued packing.
