Smoke And Mirrors

Garrett quickly closes the Safari window when the door of the hotel room opens and Jared walks in. Garrett Google'd Jared's name to find some more information about him. It would be kind of awkward if Jared would see that Garrett Google'd him. 

Garrett found out that Jared isn't only a musician but also an actor, producer, director, photographer, model and painter. Is there something he doesn't do? 

He also found out about his previous relationships. He has been dating Cameron Diaz for a couple of years for example. They were even engaged. He also dated Scarlett Johansson. Apparentley he had also a flirt with Lindsay Lohan and Ashley Olsen. 

These are all Hollywood stars. Why now Sierra? She's so different than those girls/women. Garrett doesn't really know about them, but they seem kind of super ficial people. 

Sierra isn't like that. She's not your every day girl. She's a mystery and takes a while to figure out. And that's exactly what makes her so interesting. There's always something going on when you're around her. 

But the thing is, Jared seems also mystrious and hard to figure out and Garrett wonders what makes him like those women. He wouldn't say that they actually fit. 

Jared hadn't had any relationships in the last two years and he's probably not intending to start dating again, but maybe he has changed his mind when he met Sierra. 

Garrett gets the same weird feeling in his stomach he also had at breakfast. It's not a very pleasant feeling and he really wants it to go away. 

"Some people are taking a swim," Jared suddenly breaks the silence, making Garrett look up in surprise. "You wanna join?" 

Garrett looks at the time on the right bottom of his laptop. It's only two thirty. Earlier, they decided to go in town around six o'clock. He needs something to kill time and swimming actually sounds appealing. 

"Yeah sure," he answers. "Why not?" He shuts his laptop and gets up to find his swimming trunks. Blake just opens the bathroom door and Garrett quickly gets in to change into the swimming clothes. 

Jared and Garrett walk together through the corridor towards the elevators. There's a silence between them and they both notice how awkward the silence is. They're both thinking of something to say, but they can't come up with anything. 

It's a relief for both of them when they enter the swimming area and separate their ways, Jared to his bandmates and some people from the Mars crew. 

Garrett looks around the pool. There aren't a lot of his bandmates in the pool, only John and Jared. Then he sees Sierra. She's sitting on the rand of the pool with her legs in the water. She wears a black and white striped bikini that shows off her beautiful body. 

"Hey," Garrett says, taking a seat next to Sierra. She looks up at him and smiles. Of course one of her gorgeous smiles. 

"Hi," she says. 

They both look at their feet in the water. Sierra's right one is still obviously swollen and bruised, but Garrett finds that it doesn't make her any less beautiful. She still got her harmless, beautiful face. 

But he can't help but ask what happened. Sierra looks up at him again and grins. "Oh, you know. I tripped."

Garrett raises an eyebrow at her. "In the middle of the night? What the hell were you doing?" 

"The usual stuff. I couldn't sleep and got up for a walk. Just some stupid bag ruined my plan," she says like it's an every day thing to go for a walk and trip in the middle of the night. 

"But it's fine," she says. "I'm fine. Everyone asks me what happened and then look oddly at me when I tell them. I just don't want to talk about it anymore." 

There falls a silence between them. Garrett looks at her. She is obviously frustrated by the topic. He won't press it if she doesn't want to talk about it. It must be tiring that people ask questions all the time. 

Sierra averts her eyes. "I'm sorry," she mumbles. "I'm rambling. But I hate it when people treat me like I'm handicapted. Because I'm not." 

Garrett finally dares to open his mouth and says: "I don't think your handicapted."

Sierra smiles at him warmly. He really doesn't look at her like other people do and she likes it. There's something so different yet so familiar about Garrett. It's just really nice to be around him. 

Then suddenly she feels two hands placed on her shoulderblades and seconds later she feels the wet surrounding of water around her. She was so surprised by the sudden action that she had let out a yell of terror. 

She pushes herself up as quick as possible to gasp for breath. Then she also sees who has pushed her into the water. Jared Leto. 

He grins at her, showing off his perfectly white teeth. "It's pay back time, baby." 

She frowns at him, not knowing what he is talking about and then realisation hits her. She has pulled him into the water a couple of nights before at they're nightly swim. 

"Well don't think that this it," Sierra says while pushing her self up to get out of the swimming pool. "I'm gonna get revenge." 

Garrett is still sitting on the rand of the swimming pool looking at the two others with that weird feelig in his stomach once again. Just leave her alone, he says silently to Jared. You're way too old for her. 

But Sierra doesn't seem to mind. She stands on one leg -since the other one is still bruised- on the rand of the pool, trying to pull Jared into the water. She quite failing, but there is a big grin on her face. 

Eventually they fall in the pool together.

Garrett gets up and walks away.
