Smoke And Mirrors
Bar Talk
A comfortable silence embraces the two figures walking through the empty corridors of the huge hotel. Both in pajamas and bare feet. The guy is smarter than the girl, because he brought a sweater with him. Poor girl is gonna shake from coldness.
"Do feel like going outside?" Garrett asks. He looks down at their feet. They both didn't think about taking shoes with them or at least socks.
"I think I might die in this cold," Sierra says, lifting her gaze from their feet to Garrett's beautiful, electric blue eyes. She smiles softly at him, making her green eyes sparkle in the dimly lit elevator.
"I think the bar is still open," Sierra says, smirking at Garrett while they get out of the elevator and walk into the lobby. Sierra's toes curl up the moment her feet the soft carpet. Way better than those cold tiles from the corridor.
"Sounds like a plan," Garrett answers, returning the smirk. They start for the corridor that leads to the bar.
The bar is pretty crowded, even though it's already past two in the morning. People stare at them when they pass by, finding it odd that the two are wearing their pajamas. But they just ignore the glances and walk past the people without giving them a second glance.
They take a seat on a bar stool next to each other. Garrett looks at the beautiful girl next to him. Her eyes are sparkling really nice and they're so full of life and joy. He notices that earlier today her eyes where more a greenish brown and now they look kind of yellowish. Her dark brown hair falls in messy waves around her shoulder. It's full of pearls, little braids and small dreads. Her hair is really messy, but that makes it even more beautiful.
Sierra turns her head, just in time to catch Garrett's gaze before he turns his head away and looks at his drink in front of him. She feels like those beautiful, electric blue eyes are trying to read her soul, they can go so deep. She wonders what runs through his mind when he looks at her like that.
"So," Garrett says, trying to break the awkward tense. "Do you enjoy tour?" It's the most stupid question ever, but he can't sit there forever without saying a word to her. That would be really awkward.
She lifts her gaze, looking with her beautiful eyes into his, a small smile spreading across her face. "It's been one of the most beautiful tours I've ever done. I mean, it just started, but I feel already that it's going to be amazing."
Garrett nods his head, not really knowing what to say. He hopes it's going to be an amazing tour, but then again tour itself is always amazing. He can't express in words how much he enjoys doing this, how grateful he is to be able to do this. It's just amazing. He can't say it enough.
"You kind of remind me of someone," Sierra says. She looks at him from the corner of her eye, taking a sip from her drink. She tries to think of who she's referring to, but the name doesn't pop up in her mind. "Especially the hair."
She looks at his messy, dark brown hair. It's a bit too long and it seems like it isn't washed since the beginning of tour. It actually looks quite sexy, she must admit. It's not like Blake's hair at all, his hair must be like the cleanest on earth.
She shots up, knowing the name again. "You look like Ryan Adams," she says, proud of herself that she remembers the name. Garrett's cheeks heat up and he looks away from Sierra, trying to hide the blush.
Sierra's smile disappears, feeling that she made it quite embarrassing for the guy. She doesn't want to make him uncomfortable. Ryan Adams looks pretty good for being the age of thirty-seven and Garrett looks even better.
"I'm sorry," she says. Garrett turns his head to look at her, his cheeks still a bit red. She didn't insult him, at all. His a big fan of Ryan Adams, but no one -aside for his brother- pointed out that he had tried to copy to looks of his idol, which in fact he did.
"Thank you," he says smiling at the girl next to him. "I like Ryan Adams." Sierra widens her eyes, but also sighs in relief. For a moment she thought that she had hurt him and that's really not what she wanted.
"You're welcome," she answers, the smile returning to her face. She takes another sip of her drink, her eyes never leaving Garrett. His heart skips a beat when he looks into her beautiful eyes and he tries not to blush again. He hates to be so shy and awkward.
From there on they start chatting like they have known each other for years. Garrett doesn't feel as awkward as he did before and feels even kind of comfortable in her presence. Sierra's smile is glued on her face and doesn't disappear anymore.
Sierra starts to feel a little buzzed after a couple of drinks, but she doesn't really care. She tells Garrett about the awkward situation that took place earlier that night. How she went swimming with Jared and how his manager exploded after he found out.
Garrett can't help, but a little jealous. He would have want to be in Jared's place anytime and gone swimming with Sierra in the middle of the night. He's sure that Tim wouldn't be as mad as the manager of 30 Seconds To Mars, but would be kind of amused like Sierra's manager was.
When the clock reaches four in the morning and the bartender kicks them out of the bar, because they're the only two left, they finally decide to go back to their rooms to sleep. Garrett hasn't noticed how tired he actually is, till they go up with the elevator and walk toward their room.
They bid their goodbyes and Garrett watches Sierra walking away toward her room. He is met with the snores of Pat as he enters his own hotel room and crawls in bed next to him. A smile creeps on his face as he thinks about the last two hours and how much fun it was to spend them with Sierra instead of walking around, not able to find sleep.
Now sleep takes over easily.
