Poppy is very much- human. The sister of an Oxford grad student, staying on the campus whilst trying to escpe the limitations of her hometown. When she meets young Chares Xavier, she sees in him something beautiful, an internal paradise within the mind, yet to be discovered.

Charles couldn't be more in disagreement. He finds no use in his "powers" other than flirting with undergrads and cheating on exams- and once his mutation starts ripping at the relationship he so values, he yearns to discard it forever.

But, after a series of tumultous events that changes the lives of everyone around him- he must choose between humanity and something more.
