Memories.

1/1

The clean, fresh scent of the ocean, so smooth and soothing, envelopes her senses and causes a feeling of peace to fill her whole soul. The sweet, gentle caress of the wind, so tender and placid, dances through her hair and tickles her smiling, sun-kissed face.

The sight of the blue, silky mass of water, seeming endless and eternal, makes her eyes sparkle like the sunlight that floats on the temperate waves. The familiar, whooshing sound of the dancing waves breaking over the shore, so gracefully and elegantly, fills her ears and mind with a pleasantness she hadn’t known for quite some time.

The bliss filled, distant memories flutter through her mind like butterflies, real and in sight but untouchable, like a dream, or like something she had read from a book a long time ago; sand beneath her toes, sunlight licking at her skin, the feel of waves wrapping themselves around her limbs.

She held on to those memories like they were a single life preserver in the middle of a stormy sea.

Only memories.

She opens her eyes.
