The Artist

1/1

“Just another stroke.” she whispers to herself as she drags the utensil across the peach tinted canvas before her. She squints her aqua colored eyes as a trace of color is produced on the canvas. She wants her work to be precise, there is no room for error.

Intricately drawn lines zigzag across the canvas as the crimson liquid becomes more prominent. The artist is no more than 17 years old, yet she knows exactly how she wants her masterpiece to turn out. She has attempted to achieve her goal several times already. Now she paints over her previous attempts even more determined than before. The artist is tired of striving for perfection and failing. This time, she will be perfect. She will transform her pipe dream into reality.

Suddenly, her wrist stops moving and the utensil falls to the ground. The cold metal produces a hollow noise; just as hollow as her empty lungs. The artist has succeeded this time, her arms display her final work of art.
