Flower Child

Darla and John.

Darla was a flower child in every sense of way.

She was lying flat on her back in a patch of overgrown sunflowers, absentmindedly staring at the baby blue sky. She was twirling her neon love beads in her long fingers and slowly causing them to knot up.

Next to Darla was her boyfriend John. He was looking at Darla with smile on his face. He slowly stretched out his arm and plucked up one the yellow flowers. “Here darling.”

Darla looked at him and her hazel eyes lit up. She silently thanked him while she placed the flower behind her ear.

The two teenagers moved closer to each and wrapped their arms around each other. They were slowly but surely falling in love.

No wonder 1967 was called the summer of love.
