King With No Crown

When Blaise and I got off the carriage that pulled itself, we walked through the gates to Hogwarts. I noticed all the stuff had been piled and Severus had not mentioned anything about this to me. There were Aurors everywhere checking the trunks.

I had spotted Severus while Blaise and I looked all around, wondering why there were so many Aurors. Then it hit me. He-Who-Shall-Not-be-Named was back. It made sense to why Professor Dumbledore would want extra security. I would too.

"Sev!" I called out to get his attention. I already knew he was going to be mad since I didn't call him what I was supposed to.

"Names?" I heard a small voice close to the ground. I looked down to see Professor Flitwick with a long list and a rather large quill in his hand.

"Professor, you've known us since we were eleven."

"I need to take names."

"Do you really need us to say our names?" I asked in a bit of a mocking tone.

"Names?"

"Blaise Zabini."

"Ava Prince."

"Thank you, Ms. Prince."

"Yeah, yeah. . ." I said, waiting for Severus to make his way over to us.

"How many times do I have to tell you to not call me by my first name whilst we are at school?" He asked, his voice lingering around a couple words, making them longer than they needed to be.

"Whatever. Are we going to have Aurors around here all school year?" I inquired, looking at one of them who was quite attractive. Maybe having them around wouldn't be that bad at all.

"Yes. The Headmaster has hired plenty of extra security this year."

I nodded slightly, winking at the cute one who seemed to smirk a little before turning his head and out of the gaze of Severus. I don't think I'd want to be stared down by him either. Even though it happens. A lot.

"You're pale," he stated.

"Right then. Come on, Blaise. The Sorting Hat ceremony should be starting soon and I don't want to miss the fresh meat that Slytherin will obtain." With that, I pulled him along.

When we were away far enough, I let go of his hand, sighing slightly.

"You actually care about the first years?" He asked incredulously.

"Of course not, I'm just sick of Professor Snape being his nosy self. It was none of his business."

"What did happen?" He asked in a rather small voice whilst we walked up the marble stair case into the Entrance Hall.

I shoved a third year Hufflepuff out of the way who screamed at me. I turned to look at them. "Well, quite a lot of guts for talking back to a Slytherin sixth year," I mused.

In an instant, their face grew red. "I just. . .But you. . ."

"Run along now." I raised an eyebrow, a bored expression lingering on my face. As they rushed into the Great Hall, they staggered a little over their own two feet. "Nothing happened. Now, pick some seats for us to sit at."

I followed him into the Great Hall. Blaise decided to sit next to Crabbe and Goyle. Pansy glared at me but I couldn't help to just smirk. When I looked around I noticed that Draco was no where in sight. I couldn't help but wonder where he was, the rest of the students were already in the Great Hall. I even took a glimpse into the hall, but then again the Sorting Ceremony wasn't supposed to start for sometime. I let out a small sigh when I noticed that Blaise had put his hand on my thigh. Though, I couldn't help but to look at him and smirk.

After what seemed to take forever, Draco had finally came. It didn't surprise me and he set next Pansy. When I looked over at him our eyes caught for a second. I quickly and looked away and looked at the Sorting Hat, wondering what new song it had come up with in the past year.

The Sorting Has started its song. About one hundred new students' names were called. The ones that were sorted into Slytherin all looked anxious. I don't blame them, they were after all, sorted into the best House in Hogwarts.

It was fifteen minutes after the ceremony and I still couldn't get the bored look off my face. Unfortunately, I would have to bear this feast for another hour if I didn't want to be the first one in the dormitory. I noticed that Draco had kept looking in my direction as if my head were to fall off any second.

I let my mind wander in all directions as I moved my fork around my plate. One place that it couldn't help but to keep wondering back two was that horrid night. Enough of this.

I sat up abruptly and started to walk out of the Great Hall.

I could hear Blaise call my name from the table, "where are you going?"

"I'm not hungry. I'm going to my dormitory."

"You know, I'm not that hungry either." With that, Blaise got up and joined me.

As soon as I reached my room, I put something on my doorknob and preceded to push Blaise down on my bed. As I climbed over him, the one image that would make my smirk grow was Draco's face once Blaise got up to join me in our adventure to my bed.
