Gravity Don't Mean Too Much to Me

Preparations

Months had passed since the incident at the park and the hospital, and Lyndsey was now six months into her pregnancy.

She had been getting more and more cravings through the months, not only craving buckets full of ketchup, but also craving double chocolate ice cream, cheese, noodles and the weirdest craving so far, sugar. She had been eating sugar with a spoon, which Gerard had protested against everytime she had done it, but she never listened.

He had suggested she eat it with something else, maybe on top of the double chocolate ice cream he had to buy her three times a day, but she had refused. Although she loved both, together the thought sickened her.

Lyndsey's stomach was fully visible now, so the Doctor had to visit her from home to avoid anyone finding out. It would be hard for her on days when Gerard went out to do interviews or some other kind of promotion, and especially when Bandit went to school. Lyndsey liked to entertain herself by logging onto her Twitter, which she had neglected quite often, and she liked to send her thanks to the support of the fans.

Not her fans, however.

Gerard's.

After her husband had been escorted from the hospital premises, a group of photographers had shown up and taken photos. Gerard had ran to the car as fast as was possible, with Lyndsey's hand in his, but they had followed and more had shown up not long after.

The paparazzi had eventually somehow found out about what had allegedly happened between Gerard and Vicky, and the news was making the front page of major newspapers and magazines everywhere.

One morning, Lyndsey had been eating ice cream when she had spotted her husband on the front page of a newspaper he had brought her. She had smiled at first, thinking it was just another interview about how well the band was doing, but then she had read the caption above his photo; "Gerard hits Girl."

She had hastily picked up the newspaper and flicked to page six, which was to be referred to for the story. She had then reluctantly began reading the article.

Gerard Arthur Way. Some of you may know of him as the lead singer of My Chemical Romance, or perhaps you comic lovers know him as Gerard Way, the author of the Umbrella Academy. Perhaps you're even thinking, 'who is Gerard Way?' Well, we'll tell you.

He's a child beater. Not only is he a child beater, but he is the lead singer of a emo band by the name of My Chemical Romance, which leads a group of suicidal teenagers who claim to listen to their music to 'get them through the hard times.' Yeah, right. The lyrics to their songs shows us exactly the kind of band they are, with song titles such as; 'I'm Not Okay', and 'The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You', we're sure this group of forty year old men are here to sing about flowers and rainbows to get you through 'rough times'.

Now, before fans start to throw insults at us and begin chanting; "Fuck the Daily Mail" at us again, let us explain what you're leader has done first.

Mr Way was spotted outside of St Joseph's Hospital last Saturday, accompanied by his wife, Lyndsey Way. Lyndsey is also a well-known artist, playing guitar for a somewhat non excistant band, Mindless Self Indulgence. It is rumoured that their daughter, Bandit, was later taken home by Frank Iero, also a member of My Chemical Romance, as her parents were to busy attracting attention to themselves to take her home.

It later emerged that Gerard had been thrown out of the hospital for 'disrupting a patient', and sources tell us that this patient was a little girl by the name of Amy Hatzervich. However, considering doctors were unable to divulge information on the girl in question, we are aware that some details of the incident may be a little scattered.

The girl, who looked to be at least ten years old, had been seen with a cast on her arm and crying. She had cuts all over her face and a bruised eye. Sources say Gerard had been visiting the girl which had lead to a heated discussion, which had lead to Gerard lashing out at her.

Was he responsible for the girl's injuries? Why was he yelling at a small injured little girl?

Lyndsey hadn't been able to read anymore, so she through the newspaper away. She hadn't wanted Gerard to see it, but of course, as he had brought it for her in the first place, he had probably read it already.

She had been incredibly angry, how could the hospital let the paparazzi know so much of what had happened? Of course, Gerard hadn't lashed out at Vicky, and he hadn't caused her injuries, but he had been asscorted away from the hospital because she had claimed Gerard was hurting her.

Lyndsey had rung up the hospital not long after, complaining about the lack of confidentiality. They had assured her they had done their best to keep the reporters away, but Vicky had wanted to speak to them. Great. Lyndsey knew what that meant.

The court case that was to be held tomorrow would be all over the news by now, there was no doubt. This whole case would go completely public, and they would be forced to defend themselves. Not only that, but everyone would know that Bandit had been victim to bullying, and worst of all, Bandit would be exposed to the public.

Lyndsey had never wanted this life for her daughter, it would be too much for her to handle. You always had to watch what you say, have to answer most of the questions that are thrown at you, have no privacy whatsoever, and have your photo taken wherever you go.

Lyndsey knew she had to protect and prepare her daughter for what was coming, but she didn't know where to begin. How could you being to even explain what life in the fast lane was like? Bandit was such an innocent young girl, and there was no doubt that she wasn't ready for this.

She sighed, picking up her iPhone and clicking on her Twitter app. She scrolled through her mentions, smiling at fans who were supporting her and her husband, laughing at random jokes people were making, and occasionally feeling a little scared by a few of the tweets. Some fans could express their love for her band or her husband in very unique ways that could be perceived as 'crazy' by anyone else, but Lyndsey loved it.

After about two minuets of scrolling through her tweets, she saw a tweet that caught her eye. An account named '@GerdBeatsKidz'. Lyndsey immediately clicked on the tweet before the page refreshed itself and thousands more popped up, and she was taken to the tweet they had sent to her.

It read; "I told u all that @GerardWay was a bastard. Bet all da killjoys be crying now wiv @Lynzway. 2 bad her husband is a prick."

Usually, Lynsey wouldn't let some loser behind a computer screen bother her, but with all the stress concerning Gerard and Bandit, she had to take her anger out on someone. Her poor child was about to face a trial in front of thousands, although not directly, and her husband could be sent to jail for something he didn't even do. Her hormones were racing at the moment, and all she wanted to do was take her frustration out on someone.

She clicked the arrow below the tweet to reply. She knew she had to choose her words carefully, she didn't want anymore headlines against them. She wrote; "@GerdBeatsKidz: It's funny how some people can judge before even knowing the facts. Think before you speak, & buy a dictionary."

Lyndsey hesitated and then pressed send. Within just a few seconds there were tons of retweets and fans supporting her, and she smiled to herself. At least that would keep her mind away from how to prepare Bandit for all the reporters that were bound to try and interview her.

She retweeted a few fans, and within about ten minuets, the kid had replied to her. She had only known this from the reactions of the fans on her mentions, so she had to search their username to find the tweet. Lyndsey clicked on their profile and was surprised to see a picture of her husband as the icon. However, when she looked closely she could see a number of swear words printed in small bold letters around him.

Her anger grew as she read the tweet back to her; "@LynzWay I've checked all ma facts luv. Your husband is a right nut case. Dat poor girl gave a interview about it all."

Lyndsey considered whether she should even waste her time replying. She spent a few minuets considering if she should, and eventually she decided to reply. If she didn't have something to do, she was going to eat the whole house out of food, and she'd also end up crying again. She couldn't bare to think about what was going to happen the next day.

She replied; "@GerdBeatsKidz The media haven't even got her name right, so how is everything else true? She may have said some things, but tomorrow everything will be cleared up." The limit of 140 letters had forced her to reply in two separate tweets. This annoyed her, but she didn't want to stoop to their punctuation.

As she waited for a reply, she looked on their bio, which read; "Flinging shit in the sterilised eyes of Gerard Way." She couldn't help but laugh at the unorginality of this, and she also laughed at the person's stupidity. They only had two hundred followers, not that followers mattered, and when she looked at the one person they were following, they were following her husband.

This time they took even longer to reply, which gave her time to ponder tomorrow's events.

How could she begin to explain everything to her daughter? She had already explained what was happening and what had happened at the hospital, but she felt Bandit didn't really understand what her role was. Bandit would have to stand up in front of everyone and explain in detail what Vicky had done to her, and Lyndsey knew that was going to be hard for her.

To have to relive moments like that, with everyone listening would be a horrible experience for Bandit, not to mention the stress it would cause herself and Gerard, knowing that they had stood by and unwillingly let this happen to her. Sure, they hadn't known, but of course Lyndsey blamed herself.

She had been stupid to think that Vicky would just leave Bandit alone, bullies didn't just stop. Why hadn't she kept a closer eye on her? Why hadn't she done more to get Vicky exspelled for bullying? There was so much guilt going on in Lyndsey's head that she felt like she was going to explode.

What made it worse was that Gerard was pretending everything was okay, continuing with interviews and everyday activities. He had a smile on his face everyday, but Lyndsey could see the pain behind it. He was a wonderful man, and he didn't deserve this.

Just as Lyndsey was getting angry about the accusations thrown at her angelic husband, the user replied once more. She smirked devishly as she clicked on the tweet, which read; "@LynzWay her name is Vicky she told the reporters dat. U should hear wat he did to her, it's brutal. Ur husband is a child beater."

Lyndsey's heart dropped as she saw Vicky's name. The reporters really had interviewed her, and Lyndsey wondered what other accusations had been falsely thrown at Gerard. She bit down on her lip nervously as she typed back; "@GerdBeatsKidz I can promise you that none of these accusations are true. You'd know that if you knew my husband personally. Don't you ever say a word against him again, I'm reporting you."

She had gone over the limit again, so she had had to write two tweets, but it was worth it. She gained many retweets from that, more than she had ever received, but she was too busy opening up YouTube to take any notice. She searched for the interview, and she immediately found the right one. She knew this was it, because she saw a photo of Vicky.

She pressed play and watched a young handsome news reporter talking to the camera. He was stood outside a small house in a little close, and Lyndsey guessed that this was Vicky's house. Her stomach clenched as she prepared to listen.

"I'm Derek Johnson and I'm outside of the little girl's house in New Jersey. I've been asked to keep the street name anonymous, but I can reveal that her name is Vicky. The victim's parents prefer I keep her last name a secret too, which is understandable." The news reporter stepped to the side and the camera lowered as it focused on Vicky, who had a serious look on her face. He lowered his microphone to her mouth so that she could speak into it. "Vicky, how old are you?"

"I'm twelve." She replied in a childish voice.

"Twelve. Wow, you must be pretty nervous in front of all these cameras."

Vicky looked directly at the camera, and Lyndsey felt herself stiffen. How could such a small girl stir such a response from her?

"I am, yeah."

"Well, don't worry, if you don't want to answer a question just say 'pass' and we'll move on." Vicky nodded and he continued. "Could you please name the man that attacked you?"

"Gerard Way." She replied almost immediately, and Lyndsey couldn't help but feel this was all planned.

"And, tell me, what injuries did he give you?"

Vicky pointed at her arm. "My arm is broken and I have bruises on my legs. My hands are scrapped too."

"What about that the cuts on your face?" The interviewer asked gently.

Lyndsey gulped. She knew what was coming, but even as the words left Vicky's mouth she was in shock; "He didn't do that, Bandit did."

"Bandit?" The interviewer asked, clearly he hadn't done his research before hand.

"That's Gerard Way's daughter. She hit me a lot of times, she's the reason I was in hospital in the first place."

"So, explain your story clearly for everyone to hear."

"I was at the park by myself when Frank Iero and Bandit Way were there. Bandit came over to the swings and started teasing me, and then Frank came over and thought it was the over way around. I tried to tell him-" cried Vicky, and the interviewer patted her shoulder; "-but he wouldn't believe me. He started yelling and being mean, and then he pushed me from the swing. I felt my arm bend in a funny way-"

"-I thought Gerard did that?"

Lyndsey smirked at her slip up. "Oh no, that was Frank. Sorry. It's hard to keep track with all of my injuries." Lyndsey's smirk faded. "So I started crying because it hurt, and then Bandit got angry because Frank started to get aggressive towards her, blaming her for it, and she attacked my face. Then, when I got to the hospital Gerard visited me with Frank, and Frank was being mean, and then Gerard started grabbing me. He said I was a liar and that Frank was innocent and then I felt my arm burning more."

"That is truly awful. Can you tell us anything else?"

"It's too upsetting." Vicky pouted, wiping tears from her face.

"Well, that's all we have time for-"

Lyndsey closed YouTube and returned to Twitter. She stared at her mentions, not really taking them in. All she could think about was how to prove that all these accusations weren't true. They had got a very expensive well qualified lawyer to represent them, and he had told both Frank and Gerard that he had evidence against Vicky.

However, Lyndsey couldn't help but worry. She knew the stress would do her or the baby no good, but she couldn't help it. Bandit was just a girl, if anything happened to her father or her Uncle she would be devastated. Bandit was at an age where she needed as many role models as she could get, and Gerard was one of Bandit's favourites.

Gerard and Bandit had a different relationship to what she had with Lyndsey, different in a very good way. Lyndsey would help Bandit with the things a girl of her age was going through, she was more like a best friend to her daughter than a mother. They were close, and they always had fun together. Gerard however, was more like her protector. They still had fun together of course, especially when they were playing with Bandit's action figures. He was also one of the biggest role model's their daughter would ever have, judging from the amount of My Chemical Romance songs she owned.

Frank on the other hand was like an older brother to her more than an Uncle. Without him Bandit would feel so alone, he always cheered her up and knew the right thing to say to her. Of course she had her friends, but as Lyndsey and Gerard had discussed, their daughter may not be able to attend her school after everything that had happened.

The paparazzi were good at tracking down information, and sooner or later Vicky would tell them where they went to school. This would mean that Bandit would have even less privacy, and Lyndsey knew she wasn't ready for that. They didn't want that life for their daughter, not unless she decided otherwise when she grew up.

She heard the door open and heard a man's groaning from the living room. She assumed it was Gerard, but then Frank entered the kitchen.

"Eugh, I have such a headache right now. Do you know how hard it was to get here?" He complained, and Lyndsey could understand completely. They had to be careful now that the case had gone public.

"Come sit down, you look like you need it."

Frank complied, looking incredibly relieved. He clutched his forehead and looked up at her from the other side of the table. "How's Bandit?"

"She's handling it all very well. She knows she has to go to court tomorrow, but I don't think she understands how much she means to this case. She has a huge role to play." Lyndsey sighed, looking down at her Twitter page.

"The poor girl has a lot of weight on her shoulders." Frank looked at the phone in her hands. "How's it been, staying at home? You must be pretty bored by now."

She shook her head. "Not really. I have things to do, and I was going to have to be on house arrest eventually anyway, I'm getting big now." She gestured at her stomach.

Frank smiled. "Have you thought of any names yet?"

"We haven't really had time to, what with the trial tomorrow."

He sighed. "Are you scared?"

Lyndsey shrugged, trying to give off the appearance that she wasn't too worried. "I'm sure everything will be alright. They can't seriously believe a word that girl has said. The lawyer says everything is in order, so I believe him."

Frank looked sympathetic. "I'm so sorry about all of this, LynZ. I feel so awful, you could loose your husband before your baby is even born-"

"-Frank, honey, please. It isn't your fault. That little bitch is the one that should feel awful. She tried to hurt Bandit and ended up hurting herself. You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time." She took hold of his hand from across the table. It was times like these when they grew close to each other.

"I know, but Gerard was so nice to her, even after everything she'd done to Bandit. How could she do that to him? He doesn't deserve any of it."

"I know. I just hope we can get through this."

"We can. I know it." Frank kissed her hand gently. "Ray and Mikey are going to support your case too, as much as they can. They can tell the jury what great parents you are, and they're both witnesses to what a mess Bandit was in all those months ago when Vicky was bullying her."

"At least it's something, we need all the help we can get."

They both knew that what was coming was not going to be pretty, but they couldn't help but hope that things would be okay.
