Spring Break

Spring Break?
Alone?
Without Parents?
At the Beach?
I think yes!!!!!
Oh how I love LA…

“Is this I good spot babe?” Vic asked.

“Yeah, this is good.”

“This week is going to be so nice.”

“I know, I don’t think I’ve ever been excited to spend a week alone with you. Maybe if Dad didn’t have me on lock down all the time now.” I said sitting on our beach blanket.

Vic took his seat next to me, “I know. I’m thankful your aunt is letting us borrow her beach house. We’re definitely going to have tons of fun, if you know what I mean?”

“Oh god.”

“You love it.”

“I love you.”

I pulled Vic into me, not wasting anytime with having our tongues dance.

“Oh baby.” Vic said pulling away.

“Shut up and just kiss me.”

Instead, he gave me butterfly kisses, teasing me.

“God you suck.”

Then he bit my neck and I laughed.

“I don’t understand, why do you laugh when I bite you?”

“Because it tickles.”

“You’re weird.”

“So are you.”

“Two wrongs make a right, isn’t that how the saying goes?”

“Yeah.”

“Then we’re perfect.”

I giggled and kissed him again.
Nothing and I mean nothing can ruin this perfect week.

“Hey I found them, they’re over here!”

We turned to see Joe waving.
I take that back…

“What the hell. I thought you didn’t tell anyone.” I said to Vic.

“I didn’t, I swear… So much for a nice week alone.”

“You can say that again.”

I huffed and flopped back on the beach blanket.

“Hey you guys found a perfect spot; I knew I could count on you.” Joe said putting his towel down and dropping his other belongings.

I sneered at him and the others.

“Hey guys, what’s up.” Liz said, sitting next to us.

I pulled her closer to me, “What are you guys doing here?” I whispered.

“Um, vacationing?” She whispered back.

“Not with us, I told you that I was spending spring break alone with Vic.”

“Yeah, I know.”

“Liz!”

“What? It was Mike’s idea he said that your aunt agreed to let us borrow her beach house and that no one else would be there but me, him, Joe and Mitch.”

I rolled back over, “Oh my god!”

“You called?” Mitch said.

I flipped him off.

“There is no way on god’s green earth I’m spending a week with you losers, besides Liz.
The rest of you need to find some where else to stay.”

“With what money?” Mike asked.

“The one you get from your gigs we all know that you Michael save it for your cigs and booze.”

“You drink that booze with the money I save and I have some with me.”

Mike pulled out a wine cooler from their beach bag.

“Give me now!” I said reaching for it.

“No. Keri we had a deal,” Vic said pulling my hand away.

“But-.”

“No. Come on we’ll find another spot.”

“Okay.” Joe said getting up.

“No not you guys, just Keri and I. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to have alone time. We really need it.”

“And a couple of condoms.” Mike coughed.

Vic pulled me up and gathered our things.

“See ya Liz.”

“Bye girly.”

I took Vic’s hand and we began our search for a new spot.

“Oh and by the way Mike, we got three boxes. If you and Liz need a couple let me know.” Vic yelled back to our friends.

“Vic.” I said.

“It’s not like he’s gunna be able to use any of them anyway, Liz isn’t going to aloud something like that.”

I rolled my eyes and laughed, “You’re so reckless. Don’t cry to me when she’s kicking your ass.”

“I will.”

Later that day Michael came clean and told us, he wasn’t saying at my aunts beach house with Vic and I and that they had actually rented another house to stay at cause he was convinced I was coming home with a baby…
Asshole.
I think I possibly wringed his neck for a while but im not one hundred percent sure what I did to tell the truth….
So the next day to make up for everything, Mike invited us out to a karaoke bar…yeah…

“What song do you want to do?” Vic asked looking through the song book.

“None.” I answered.

“What song do you want to do?” he asked again.

“None.”

“Keri.”

“What?”

“Listen, just because we’re hanging out with our friends, isn’t going to change the rest of our plans for the week.” Vic hugged be from behind, “Its still gunna be me and you. Doesn’t that excite you, hmmm?”

I smiled to myself, but shook my head.

“Don’t lie. You know your excited.”

“No I’m not.”

“Yes you are.” He said with a kiss on my neck and kept the process till I gave in.

“Alright, alright I give.”

“I knew you would. So what song do you want to do?”

“None. Babe you know I can’t sing.”

“Um half of the people in here can’t sing and what are you talking about? Yes you can. Who are you trying to play?”

I chuckled, “No one cause I can’t.”

Vic spun me around, “Keri. We’ve been best friends forever. We’ve been dating for what five, six months-.”

I put my hand up, “Five, six months?”

“What?”

“Five, six months?

“Yeah.”

“Vic.”

“Does that really bother you?”

“Yes.”

“Okay I’m sorry. We’ve been dating for six months.”

“Thank you and?”

“You’re going to tell me that you don’t sing?”

“Yes.”

“Keri.”

“What?”

“I know you can sing. Maybe everyone else doesn’t, but I do.”

“Mike does too, he actually found out before you.”

“Oh, well great, that’s nice. So come on pick a song.”

“I don’t want to sing in front of everyone though, I wanna keep this secret.”

“What secret?” Joe asked popping out of nowhere.

I jumped a little, “Nothing.”

“Okay I was thinking, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.”” Vic said ignoring him.

“You must be out of your mind.”

“Why?”

“No.”

He sighed, “Okay fine. What about um… “Ain’t No Mountain?””

“Yeah that’s a good one for the both of you.”

“Can we please not do any cheesy love songs?”

“Right, you need something with more soul hm…”

Vic went back flipping through the book.

“So really what secret, I wanna know.”

“Yeah I know you do.”

“What about “Turn Your Lights Down Low?””

“No.”

“But you love Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley.”

“Not with you though.”

Vic gave me one of his looks

“Fine, let’s do “One Sweet Day.”” I mumbled.

That song was bittersweet.
I sang “One Sweet Day” at my grandfathers’ funeral with my cousin.
My grandfather and I were best friends and I miss him.
For some reason this song just brings me so much comfort as bittersweet it is.

“Keri you can’t sing, do you really want to humiliate yourself up there?” Joe commented.

That got my fire blazing.

“Oh we’ll see about that that.”

I took Vic’s hand and put my request in grabbed a mic and got ready.

“Ready?” Vic asked.

“Yup.”

The music began playing and Vic started first.

“Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say
And now it's too late to hold you
'Cause you've flown away
So far away
Ayyy.”

I took a deep breath and began.

“Never had I imagined
Living without your smile
Feeling and knowing you hear me
It keeps me alive
Alive.”

Then together we sang.

“And I know you're shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together.”

“One sweet day
Eventually I'll see you in heaven...”

“Darling, I never showed you (I never showed you)
Assumed you'd always be there (I thought you'd always be there)
I took your presence for granted
But I always cared.”

“(But I always cared)
And I miss the love we shared.”

“And I know you're shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together.”

“One sweet day
Eventually I'll see you in heaven.”

“Although the sun will never shine the same
I'll always look to a brighter day.”

“Yeah
Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep
You will always listen as I pray.”

“And I know you're shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together.”

“Together
One sweet day.”

“And I know you're shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we've lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together.”

“Together
One sweet day.
Sorry I never told you.”

“All I wanted to say.”

I looked down to where Joe was sitting with his jaw dropped.
I smiled with triumph and walked off stage with Vic.

“So who was going to humiliate themselves on stage again?”

“Keri I didn’t know you could sing.” Mitch said.

“Yeah no one does and let’s keep it that way.”

Mike jumped up, “Okay my turn! Come on guys. Keri you take a seat next to Liz. Your gunna love this.”

“Oh god, im kind of scared.” Liz said.

“I’m scared for you.” I laughed.

Mike tapped on his mic, “Can ya’ll hear me out there?”

“Whooo.”

“We-eee-eeel....”

Liz and I looked at each other.

“Oh no.”

You Know You Make Me Wanna Shout
At the end of the song everyone one was out of their seats jumping around like maniacs.
‘Wow.’
Was all I could think.
The guys came off stage and Liz and I hugged them.

“You guys we’re great.” I said.

“Um more like awesomely amazing. Get it straight. Come on.” Mike said taking Liz’s hand and leading her else where.

“Where are you going?” Joe asked.

“Where ever I want.”

Liz wasn’t fighting him either.

“Did he break up with Stacey?” I whispered to Vic.

He shook his head.

“I swear if he’s-.”

“Keri let’s do a song together.” Mitch said pulling me towards the stage.

I wanted this week be full of fun and no drama, but I don’t think I’m going to get that second wish….
