Married to a Rock Star

Chill Out On The Romance, Romeo

“Mackenzie, wake up.” Alex called into my ear.

“Fuck off.” I groaned, rolling over in the bed and onto the floor. “Dammit!” I yelled, sitting up.

Alex was laughing his ass off.

“That was…”

“What the fuck are you laughing at?!” I spat.

“You.” He continued to laugh.

“Mother fucking prick.” I stated right before I stood up. “You’ve got nerve, you know that? I HATE being woken up. Everyone who knows me knows that’s the golden rule; NO WAKING UP MACKENZIE,”

“I guess I didn’t get the memo.” He replied, still cracking up.

“Douche.” I mumbled, walking into the bathroom.

“Awe, Mackenzie, I’m sorry baby.”

“Sure you are.” I rolled my eyes.

I started to brush my hair, and then my teeth.

“Want to go grab some Starbucks?”

I shrugged.

“Do I have to change?” I asked him as I stared down at my Hello Kitty pajama pants and black v-neck.

“Not if you don’t want to.”

“Let me get my boots and we’ll go.”

I went back beside the bed, and slipped on my boots.

“Ready beautiful?”

I rolled my eyes.

“Chill out on the romance, Romeo.”

“You sure aren’t a Juliet.” He laughed. “Come on, I need coffee!”

“You don’t need coffee. You need to let me go back to bed.”

“Don’t you want coffee too?” He asked me right before he took my hand in his.

The jerk didn’t even ask.

Oh well, I’m not complaining.

“I guess…”

“Then stop being a bitch, and let’s get out of the damn hotel.”

“Wow, Alex. Not very nice calling your wife a bitch,”

“Get over it.” He laughed, winking at me.

I rolled my eyes.

“Your new nick-name is totally Romeo.”

“That doesn’t make sense.”

“Whatever you say, Romeo.” I mocked.

“What can I get you guys?” The teenager asked form behind the counter.

“I want a Venti, iced vanilla coffee.”

“I want…get me the same.” Alex agreed.

The girl nodded, and then she took our order. Alex quickly paid, and we got our drinks.

“Come on.” Alex stated, pulling me out of the small coffee shop.

“You know what I just realized?”

He laughed.

“No, what?”

“We barely know each other, and we’re married.”

“Didn’t we talk the first night?”

“You didn’t exactly tell me any deep, dark secrets.”

“What do you want to know?”

“I dunno.” I laughed. “Tell me anything that you want too.”

“I…um…well, I was born in Essex,”

“I knew that. My dad told me.”

“I went to private school until eighth grade; that’s where I met Jack. I hated high school. I partied most of the time, and I dated this girl for a while.”

“How long?”

“A while, but we weren’t anything special.”

Lie.

I had a sick feeling in my stomach.

“Oh. What’s her name?”

“It’s not important.”

By ‘it’s not important’, he meant Lisa.

“Here we go again.” Alex rolled his eyes.

“Alexander, I am terrified of airplanes! I’m sorry if I’m freaking out, okay?”

“Babe, I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere.” He laughed, looping his arm around my waist, and pulling me tight to his side.

“Thanks.” I mumbled. “I just want to get back home. I’m tired, and I miss Mickie.”

“She’s been fine at the house. She’s been in constant contact with Jack.”

“I know, but I just jetted off to New York without telling her. That makes me feel terrible.”

“I understand.” He joked.

“Alex, seriously,” I whined. “I can’t wait until we get back.”

“Me either.” He laughed. “I like you, babe.”

“I like you too, Romeo.” I giggled, kissing his cheek lightly. “Let’s go ahead and get on the flying death trap.”

“It’s not bad.”

“Whatever you say,” I groaned, and then we got onto the plane. “I need my iPod.”

“Did you bring it in your purse?”

“Yeah…” I replied, pulling it out. I put my ear buds in, and I rested my head against the seat. I noticed that Alex was staring at me for more than ten minutes. “Can I help you?”

He laughed.

“I’m sorry.”

“You know that staring is rude, don’t you?”

“Not if the other person enjoys it.”

“Alex!” I laughed. “Seriously, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing…” He shook his head, and he turned back around.

“If you don’t tell me, I will get off of this damn plane, and stay in New York.”

Alex laughed again, but turned back toward me.

“Okay, okay. I was just thinking…”

“About?”

“About stuff…”

“What stuff?” I asked him.

He was starting to annoy me again.

“You,”

“Me? Why me?”

“You’re weird, and different.”

“Oh, please.” I stated sarcastically. “I’m not that different.”

“You are, actually.” He laughed. “I don’t think that I’ve ever met anyone as sarcastic as you are.”

“Is that a compliment or not?”

“Hold on.” Alex stated. “You can be a complete bitch, a smart ass, and I don’t think I’ve ever spent so much time with a girl that is always pissed off.”

I opened my mouth to speak, but he silenced me.

“But, I don’t want to be without you.” I blushed furiously, and bit my bottom lip. “Look, Mackenzie, what I’m saying is that I want you to come on tour with us. Is that cool?”

“Alex, that’s great and all but…I’m supposed to be spending the summer with Mickie and my dad. I don’t know if you realize this or not, but I won’t be able to see Mickie everyday like I used to be able too. I picked up my whole life when I found out that I was married. My parents didn’t tell me that I was married until I got to Baltimore.”

His smile faded, and he nodded slowly.

“It’s cool. I understand, I guess. Mickie’s your best friend. What kind of person would I be to not let you guys spend the rest of this summer together, right?”

I shrugged, and smiled slightly.

“You’re the best, Alex.” I stated before I leaned over the arm rest, and I kissed his lips lightly.

“Thanks.” He forced a laugh.

I knew that he wanted me to go, just by the look on his face.

I just didn’t know how much.
