Prologue: Everything happens for a reason
“And it is my pleasure to introduce to you, the newest addition to hockey heaven, Shauna Jeno!”
The crowd erupted and the Flyers players jaws dropped on their bench. I smiled to myself as I walked out to center ice towards Mr. Pegula. He handed me my jersey and I pulled it over my plain white polo and jeans and the crowd screamed again. This time the cheer that circulated around the arena was, “Prove them wrong, Prove them wrong.” I waved my hands like the queen and nodded towards my bench. The guys all come out onto the ice and circled around me and gave me hugs. I scanned through the crowd until I found my family, Danielle and Lex, they weren’t cheering, just clapping and smiling at me and in that moment I realized everything had happened for a reason, the Buffalo Sabres were my saviors.
