Adella Levine comes from the wealthiest family on the East Coast. She's constantly booked with fancy dinner parties and is always forcing some kind of a smile. Pilot McKalister is a cheeky dockworker just trying to find a way to get by. His sarcastic sense of humor and lack of responsibility has kept him from keeping a job for years. When their paths cross, they feel they can help each other out. Adella can get him the money, he can get her a life.

The problem is... her father won't allow it.
