Pure-Blood? I'm B Positive

Let's Make That!

I was sat reading on my bed, looking through the book Hermione gave me and even attempted a few spells from the book, like the Levitation charm and Diffindo, on my bed sheets, which I later had to fix using Reparo. Neville seemed more and more impressed as the evening went on, and as it became quite late I decided to save the rest for another day, placing the book underneath my bed, along with my wand I got off my bed and walked over to where Neville was sat.
"Hi." I stood behind him, he turned around to face me. "You seem quiet..."
"I'm fine Araina, just reading." Neville passed me the quite large book which he was reading quite contently.
"Goshawk's Guide to Herbology?" I questions, barely being able to hold the uniquely large text book.
"If i'm looking after you, you are going to get at least an E In your Herbology O.W.L." Neville turned around leaving my to drop the book on the floor, regaining feeling in my arms again.
"How many more books will I need to pass my O.W.Ls? How many exams will I have?"
"Hermione has high expectations for you, but it really depends on how well you are doing by the end of this week, then we'll decide collectively."
"I'm guessing I'll be doing quite a bit.."
"N-not if you don't want to, I mean it'd be good to do loads, but I guess if you can't handle it, a few would be good too..." For the first time I noticed the childlike nervousness Nevilles voice had and I couldn't help but smile to myself when he spoke.
"How many O.W.L's did you have?"
"Four. Charms, Herbology, Transfiguration and Defence Against the Dark Arts."
"Are they hard?"
"They're... challenging, but I expect you'll fly through them."
"I'm not too bad in some exams, it just depends on the subject, but I feel good about them. I'm enjoying what we're doing and for the first time, I'm quite good at something." I smiled, feeling proud of myself.
I assume Neville could sense this as he stood up and told me I should be proud of myself.
"When I was at school many people thought I was unable to do magic, they thought I was sorted into the wrong house. I was bullied Araina, I had few friends, but those I did have were the best friends I could have asked for." I could see pain in Nevilles eyes, I grabbed his hand and held it tight.
"Quality over quantity. Those bullies are cowards, and they missed out on knowing you. You, Neville, are a great wizard, and a kind man, if it wasn't for you I'd still be in Ryton Dene. I am proud to even know you." I looked into Nevilles eyes, who squeezed my hand and smiled.
"Thankyou, I'm proud to know you too." Surprisingly, Neville pulled me to him and held me tightly as we hugged. "Araina, you're going to be a great witch." Neville let me go, and sat back down in his chair.
"I hope so..." I whispered as I walked back to my bed, climbing in, I didn't do much sleeping.

"You are all useless. I might as well be doing this myself. I ask you to spy on her discreetly, and as soon as Granger left the Leaky Cauldron she suspects you, and contacts the Ministry. Nicholas and Rubens are in Askaban because of your stupidity!" He spat at his disciples. They seemed to fear him even though, undoubtedly he was a child. He stood up, he was quite tall and thin, with remarkably unique facial features and bone structure, making him look unnaturally beautiful. He sighed and paced round the table at a great speed, showing his anger and disappointment with every footstep.
"I will be returning to Hogwarts for my final year in a few weeks, I expect you all to make sure our plans remain secret while I work on the girl. Nobody gets caught, nobody goes to Azkaban. Get it?" He spat. His name was Keeran Macavoy, a seventh year Slytherin. Obsessed with power and control over the ministry, blatantly hes a political dictator. His group of followers are many people who remain loyal to Voldemort, believing him to be the next dark lord. However, his aims differed from Lord Voldemorts, he wasn't interested in killing Harry Potter, Keeran was more concerned about The Ministry of Magic, and their treatment of... well everyone - there was no defined class system anymore. At least, that's what he thought.
"Sir, I can assure you, all will be well. We shall ensure that nothing comes in they way of your plans for the Ministry and the plans for the girl."
"I will be back at Christmas for an update, don't bother sending me owls, they might get intercepted. And do not, DO NOT, screw this up. If any of you put a toe out of line, I will turn you into the ministry myself. I'm sure there will be a cell for each of you in Askaban." Keeran turned and left the room, leaving a group of dumbfounded death eaters to ponder what they were supposed to do while their brain was at Hogwarts.

I laid there in bed all night pondering the relationship myself and Neville had. We'd been surrounding each other for weeks and yet we knew nothing about each other. I could hear him snoring, even now with each heavy breath I felt a chill down my spine for how he made me feel. He made me feel wanted. I didn't know if it was love, true i'd never felt this way about someone before, but then again - I never really gave people the chance. I was confused and angry, like always, I have nobody to talk to about it. I mean, Neville was a man, not a boy - he's in his twenties. These thoughts ran through my head the entire night, the sun rose and still I hadn't had a wink of sleep. Neville stirred before waking, by this time I'd got out of bed and was in the bath. I'd hoped it may have put me to sleep, but instead I laid there serenely, finding comfort in the scented oils and warm water which surrounded me, closing my eyes I finally began to sleep when a small brown owl came flying through the window to drop a letter directly on the towel I had laid out, before swiftly turning and exiting from where it entered. Naturally, I shrieked.
"Araina? Are you in there? Are you okay?" Neville was banging on the door. "Aloha-"
"No! I'm fine Neville, an owl just flew in and it startled me, that's all - I'm sorry." I sputtered and stuttered thinking about what could have happened if he would have unlocked the door. I felt stupid, screaming because a bird came in. I got out of the bath, anxious to read the letter.
I opened the bathroom door, letter in hand.
"So open it." Neville was stood just outside, waiting.
I opened the letter.
"It's, from Hogwarts - I think..." I looked puzzled at the letter and handed it to Neville.
"It is, it's the list of the things you'll need, you have most of them already, just need to get you this years books." Neville passed the letter back to me. I looked over the parchment and blank ink that congratulated me on being accepted to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"Does this mean well finally be going out?" I questioned, looking at the list of books needed.
"Maybe.." Neville smiled and grabbed the letter. "You'll be doing your O.W.Ls first though.."
I scowled, the thought of exams on things I'd only been learning for a week or two made me highly nervous, and worried. Neville said I'd picked the things up quick, but people at Hogwarts have been doing this for years, i'd been doing it for weeks. Hermione was visiting again today, for my final week or 'lessons' before my O.W.Ls. She was trying to make me do all 12 subject available at Hogwarts, she said with the help of a time-turner i'd be able to attend all the lessons. I enjoyed learning this stuff, but travelling back in time for more school seemed a ridiculous thought, even for me. Instead I decided to take eight, it seems more reasonable.
"Hi Araina!" Hermione bounced into the room with the same essence of authority which surrounded her the first time we met. She dropped a huge pile of books into my lap and took a deep breath. "Potions."
I grinned with excitement, it seems that my skills in Chemistry had aided me in being exceptionally well at creating potions, so Hermione said.

"I'm glad for this, History of Magic was really starting to depress me." I joked as I opened a book with the title 'Advanced Potion Making by Libatius Borage.'
"Can I chose what potion we make today?" I looked at Hermione, she sputtered attempting to make an excuse. "I-I guess so, there's no harm in that."
I opened the book and searched the pages for a potion that stood out.
"Elixir to Induce Euphoria? Induces a sense of irrational happiness upon the drinker, cures depression. Sounds interesting - lets make that."
"Be warned, you'll be singing if you drink it." Neville added before returning to his plants which he frequently tended to during my 'lessons'. I giggled and turned back to Hermione.
"We need Shrivelfig, porcupine quills, castor beans, and Wormwood." Hermione said reading from the book. I nodded and looked around the room, hoping the necessary ingredients would just appear.
"In my bag" Hermione pointed to the small beaded handbag she had brought with her, I picked up the small purse, not expecting it to have been charmed. I smiled and muttered to myself.
"I love magic." Realising how hard it would be to find these objects in a bag that literally had no ends lead me to cheat a little.
"Accio Shrivelfig." a small vile of purple liquid popped out of the bag, I grabbed it and placed it in my lap. "Accio Wormwood." The bag spat out again another small glass container, this one had a mustard coloured herb inside which looked very bitter. Again, I placed it on my lap.
"Hermione, what else did you say we needed?" I turned to Hermione who was preparing the Pewter cauldron.
"Porcupine quills, castor beans. Oh, and a Sprig of Peppermint wouldn't go amiss."
"Accio castor beans. Accio porcupine quills." I placed both items on my lap.
"Accio Peppermint." A long sprig of peppermint that smelt, well... minty jumped out of the bag, I held it and put the bag to one side before grabbed all the ingredients and heading towards Hermione.
"Using the summoning charm, nice work Araina" Hermione smiled at me before taking the ingredients out of my hands.
"Thanks. Whats the mint for, it's not listed here in the ingredients." I questioned looking at the book.
"I, well a friend of mine discovered that it counterbalances the side effects." Hermione and I began adding the various ingredients to the cauldron and as time went on the liquid began to take on a sunshine yellow pigment and the smell of Peppermint heavily diffused around the room.
"I think it's ready." I peered into the cauldron and smiled up at Hermione who nodded.
"Neville, would you like to try some?" Hermione smiled as Neville, who had a worried look on his face hesitantly nodded.
"C'mon Neville. Don't you trust me and my potion making skills?" I handed Neville a small vile of the potion. "Bottoms up!" I then waited anxiously as Neville tipped the vile into his mouth.
An unnatural grin gradually grew on Neville face who then started laughing wholeheartedly at... nothing.
"I guess it works." I looked at Hermione and we both giggled at the sight of Neville and his new found joy. After a few hours, the effects sadly wore off - by which time Hermione was gone.

"I see you're back to your normal self Neville." I commented on his solemn look. He grunted in reply.
"Neville... are you okay? You seem a little down.." Neville was looking at a picture of a group of adults.
"These are my parents." He pointed to two people in the photograph.
"They look like really nice people." I commented, not exactly knowing where this conversation was going. Neville nodded.
"They're great... and sadly, dead." Neville walked out of the room leaving me dumbfounded.
I couldn't help but worry as the time past and Neville still hadn't returned. I would have gone out and looked for him but I had no idea where he could be. I sat at the desk. I paced the room. I laid on my bed. Paced the room some more. It had been hours, it was getting dark and I was getting worried. The I heard to door click and my heart thumped.
"Neville!" I ran to him and gave him the largest hug imaginable. "I was so worried." I cupped his face with my right hand feeling his unkempt stubble.
"I'm fine, I just was out..." Neville managed a smile and shut the door before going into his coat pocket and getting out a gum wrapper, which he then placed on the his desk. It seemed odd but I didn't question it, I was just glad he was okay.
"You should have told me, I was worrying so much, I didn't know what to do." I was getting quite hysterical and for the first time since we met I lost control of my emotions. A tear left my left eye, quickly followed by a tear from my right, within seconds I was sobbing. I sat on my bed and attempted to control myself but I couldn't, the harder I tried to stop crying, the more tears fell. Neville handed me a tissue and sat beside me.
"Araina I'm sorry, I didn't know it would make you so upset. I'm used to living along - I should have thought..."
I took the tissue and managed to get out a few words in between sobs.
"I... was so.... scared... for you." I took a deep breath and managed to control the waterfall of tears that were flowing from my eyes. The tissue was useless within seconds it was saturated with salty tears.
Neville put his hands on my cheek and wiped away the remaining tears. The feeling of his hand on my skin was indescribable.
"I won't do it again, I promise." Nevilles caramel coloured eyes looked into mine making me believe wholly in what was being said. I nodded and finally the tears stopped.
"I'm sorry for crying." I muttered as his hand left my cheek and he stood up off the bed.
Neville turned back around to face me, with a dramatic expression placed on his face.
"You're apologising?" He seemed to be puzzled.
"Well, I shouldn't have been so dramatic, and crying is stupid. I'm stupid." I was ashamed of myself and how childish I must have seemed in front of him. "I shouldn't be such a child."
Neville expression turned from confusion to anger as I said this.
"No! You're not stupid and you're not being childish. You're being human." Neville sat back down on the bed sighing as he did so.
"Don't let me ever hear you say that again or I'll hit you with a hex." We both laughed and sighed with content. Despite what had just happened, this moment here and now, was perfect.
