I don't know, I feel like parental respect is a fifty fifty thing.
The first fifty is like automatic respect, because they conceived/gave birth to you.
The other fifty is respect they have to earn.
For example, if my mom was a hooker (which she IS NOT) I would still love her, but I wouldn't respect her.
If my dad was a drunk abusive dickfart I would hate his guts, but I'd still consider him as my 'dad'.
