Big Bad Handsome Man

Twelve.

I couldn’t help but giggle as Matt and I walked into the house, his arms wound around me tightly as we tried not to stumble and fall. He was right behind me, refusing to let go of me for even a second. I was beyond happy at the moment, and rather excited to see what Matt had planned for us later.

“Alright, go upstairs and take a shower. When you get out Val and Zacky’s girlfriend Gena are going to be here. Their going to help you get dressed and look nice for later, when you’re done they’ll come let me know.” Matt murmured against my neck before turning me to face him. “We’re going to go out to a little restaurant, I know the manager so it’ll be safe.”

My smile widened, “alright.” I gave Matt a quick peck on the chin before hurrying up the stairs, butterflies springing to life in my stomach. I couldn’t wait for tonight.

I nearly slipped onto my butt when I slid into the bathroom. I laughed at myself before hurrying to the shower; the sooner I showered the sooner I could start getting ready.

*

“Could you have possibly taken a longer shower Kara?!” Val dragged me through the doorway of Matt’s bedroom, ranting that I had taken far too long in the shower.

Before I even had a chance to tell her I was sorry she sat me down in a chair, still ranting that I had taken forever. I couldn’t help but snicker slightly when the other blonde in the room clamped her hand over Val’s mouth. I could only assume that she had to be Zacky’s girlfriend Gena.

“Val, calm the fuck down.” She laughed.

Val rolled her eyes before swatting her hand away, sticking her tongue out like a little girl. “We’ve got to get started; your date is in about an hour.” Val mused. “Gena’s going to do your hair, and I’ll be doing your make up; and before you ask, no I will not give you any details about tonight.”

I sulked back into the chair, “come on Val you’ve got to tell me something!” I whined as Gena got started on combing my hair. I was not used to having people do my make up or hair, so I could tell this was going to be uncomfortable for me.

“Nope, Matt swore me to secrecy, and even if I wanted to spill the beans he’d make me regret it.” Val smirked looking down at me. “Don’t worry you’ll have fun, he put a lot of though into tonight.”

“Not even one little hint?” I whined.

Val tilted her head to the side for a few moments, finally sighing and nodding her head. “You’re going to wear a dress. There, that is all I am going to tell you about tonight, so no more questions Kara.” She gave me a stern glance.

“Fine.” I grumbled sourly.

*

The next forty or so minutes went by painfully slow, no matter how many times I begged Val she wouldn’t budge. I even tried to get some details out of Gena, but she was just as firm as Val. Nether of them would tell me a thing, and changed the subject often to get my mind off things.

Gena had finished my hair about ten minutes ago, and Val was currently fixing up my make up. She’d get almost done, and than decide she didn’t like something and basically start all over again. Gena was obviously amused by this, and snickered every time Val let out a frustrated cry. I had to wonder if Matt could hear her screaming.

“Val, you’re going to make them run late if you don’t finish her up.” Gena mused from somewhere behind me. “I don’t think Matt can take anymore waiting, he’s texted my phone every minute for the past five.” She snickered. “He’s excited.”

“You two suck.” I muttered. “I just want to know one little hint about tonight, but no, you won’t tell me anything.”

“He’s not going to murder you if that’s what you’re thinking.” Gena replied.

I grimaced, making Val curse under her breathe. “Not what I was worrying about at all…”

“God I’m done, Gena make sure it looks okay and I’m not just being insane right now.” Val asked in a sweet tone.

I opened my eyes to find both blondes looking down at me, satisfied smiles on their faces. Well, Val’s might’ve been forced but Gena’s looked genuine. It was only than that I started to get more nervous, realizing I was about to go on the first real date of my life… with my kidnapper. This was wrong on so many levels, but at the same time I wouldn’t have wanted it to be with anyone else.

“Alright, well we aren’t going to help you get dressed. We’ve got to get going, Matt’s just waiting for you downstairs. Have fun alright?” Val helped me up before pulling me into a tight hug, rocking me from side to side gently.

Gena followed, “it was great to meet you, and I better get to see you again.” She smiled squeezing me close.

I gave both girls a smile and thanked them as they left the room, leaving me to finally get dressed. Being in a towel for so long wasn’t as comfortable as I thought. I made sure the door was shut before dropping the towel, walking over to the bed to check out the clothes.

There was a black and pink lace dress, which I had to admit, was cute. There was also a pair of high heels sitting on the bed, along with underwear and a bra. I was going to have to ask who went shopping for me, and also figure out a way to pay them back.

I pulled on the underwear, adjusting the strapless bra until it fit right. I had to take slow deep breaths to keep from passing out from my nerves. My hands were shaking as I unzipped the dress, trying to keep my hands from tearing it somehow. I stepped in slowly, reaching behind my back to slowly zip it up. I couldn’t get it up all the way, so I knew I’d have to ask Matt to zip it up the rest of the way.

I grabbed the heels, letting out a small groan of despair. I wasn’t good at walking in heels at all, I’d have to hold onto something or Matt to make sure I didn’t fall. I didn’t want my first real date to be ruined by me falling on my face and breaking my nose. Not exactly the most romantic thing to do on a date.

I stepped into them, instantly grabbing the bed frame when I started to wobble. Val had already given me earrings to wear, so I assumed I was good to go. Nervously, I stumbled over to the bedroom door, trying to gain some composure.

Just as I opened the door I jumped slightly, finding Matt standing right there.

“I was just about to come make sure you still wanted to go out.” He laughed, rubbing his neck nervously. “You look amazing…”

My cheeks heated up, “thanks Matt… but um… can you zip my dress up the rest of the way? My arm can’t reach.” I explained nervously.

“Oh… okay.”

I turned around for Matt, shivering when his fingers brushed against the skin of my back as he zipped me up. I turned back to him when he was done; both of our faces were flushed right now. Matt blushing was something you’d never expect to see, but it was definitely something I enjoyed seeing.

“Should we get going?”

“Sure.”

“Matt… are you sure it’s safe for me to be out in public?” I murmured nervously as Matt led me towards the small restaurant.

“Yes, don’t worry I know the owner. I have a special booth away from everyone reserved for us.” He flashed me a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry about anything tonight Kara; I want you to have fun.” He held the front door open for me.

I resisted the urge to run away as I walked into the small restaurant. It was packed, and I couldn’t help but keep my head down out of instinct. I didn’t want Matt to get caught, I didn’t want anything to ruin tonight.

“Matthew, good to see you again, your back here.”

Before I could glance up Matt had already grabbed my hand and was leading me through the restaurant. I was expecting someone to look up and recognize me, but everyone was so engrossed in their conversations they didn’t even notice us. It made me relax a bit more, which Matt seemed to notice when he looked back to smile at me.

“The waiter will be over shortly.” The man I assumed who was the owner smiled at both of us.

“Alright.” Matt shook his hand before turning to me, a wide dimpled smile on his face. “Your seat.” He teased holding his hand out to the booth.

I stuck my tongue out at him before sliding in, getting comfortable as he did the same. My nerves were kicking back into gear again; this was my first real date. I had been asked on dates before, but their ideas of dates where going to the movies… with their friends… and me as one of those friends.

“Kara?”

I broke away from my thoughts, looking up at Matt. “Sorry, I get distracted by thinking.” I replied. “Did you say something?”

He shook his head, “no, but you had this blank look on your face. I was worried I was making you uncomfortable or you weren’t having a good time so far.” He answered with a slight frown. “We can go back to the house if you’d like.”

I shook my head violently, “no! I don’t want that, I’m having fun Matt this is just like… my first official date.” I explained.

His eyebrow rose, “this is your first official date?” He sounded confused.

I nodded my head slowly, playing with the napkin in front of me. “Well I’ve been asked out before, but they seemed to be like embarrassed of me. So they’d invite me on a date with them… and their friends. If any of them asked about me they’d lie and say they just invited me along as a friend too.” I explained frowning. “So this is I guess my first official date, I mean if this is even a date.” I added in a quick groan.

Matt chuckled, “Kara, calm down, this is a date, and I’m glad I’m getting to go on your first official date.” He smiled at me.

“If… you weren’t in the kidnapping business… what would you be doing right now?” I teased.

We had been on our date for about two hours now, we had already finished eating, yet we didn’t leave. Not that I minded though, I was having so much fun, and so far no one had even glanced towards us. The world could’ve been erupting into chaos outside, and I wouldn’t even care or notice.

Matt chuckled, taking a sip from his drink. “Probably music honestly, the guys and I had a band before we started all of this... but things didn’t work out obviously.” He answered with a sad smile.

“What happened?”

“Well, we went to this lady who was supposed to be some talent scout, we just needed help getting our band up and off the ground ya know? She was supposed to lend us money as long as we signed the contract and eventually paid her back. So we didn’t think anything of it and sighed it right away. She was supposed to give us some money, but never did. Before we could go in and argue with her we found out Val was pregnant.”

“Val?”

Matt nodded, his eyes trained on me. “Mhm, the talent scout, sent us to her husband who you know did all the doctor stuff with babies. Anyway he prescribed her medicine, and somehow Val lost the baby. The hospital said it looked like her pills had been tampered with.”

I felt a pain of sadness, “Val never told me any of that… and we’ve talked about a lot…”

“She doesn’t like talking about it. I blame myself mostly for not having someone make sure the pills were okay, but Val doesn’t blame any of us.”

“So… was that talent scout Karen?” I asked quietly. If she was the talent scout that meant my Father was the doctor… my Father would’ve never killed a patient’s baby.

“Yes.”

My heart sank in my chest.

“But, we later found out it was Karen who tampered with the pills. She got wind that we wanted to break from our contract since she hadn’t held up her end of the deal. When we confronted her she said she’d pin everything on us, all the time she spent swindling money from us and others, so we were stuck in a bind. She said she’d only let us break from the contract if we did a favor for her.”

By the time Matt finished telling me the story the smile had dropped from his face. I would’ve never asked if I had known how badly it’d upset him to think about it again. I looked down at my lap, twirling my thumbs for a few moments.

“I’m sorry Matt…”

He cleared his throat, “don’t be, and don’t look sad, you didn’t do anything wrong.”

A few seconds later I felt Matt’s thick arm drape across my waist, pulling me closer into his side. On reaction I pressed closer, forgetting that we were in public for a few moments.

“I have a gift for you.”

My head perked up, “what? Matt no gifts, I don’t even have any money to pay you back or get you anything.” I groaned as he dug around in his pocket.

“Hush, even if you did have money I wouldn’t take any of it from you.” He added with a dimpled smirk. “This is my gift to you, for when you… have to go back.” He pulled out a thin rectangular box from his pocket.

“Matt…”

“No protesting.” He smiled holding it out for me. “It’s my way of letting you know that my feelings are real for you Kara, everything I’ve ever said here, I meant all of it and I still do.”

I stared at him for a few moments, not sure whether to be overly happy or worried. Ignoring both emotions I took the velvet box from his hands, opening it with shaking fingers. My eyes widened at the sight, the light catching the necklace just right to make it glint back at me. I didn’t even want to try and think about how much it cost Matt, I was over whelmed.

“Kara?”

“Matt… you shouldn’t have… it looks so expensive…” I murmured looking up at him in awe.

“Kara, money really isn’t a problem with me.” He chuckled. “Do you want me to help you put it on?”

I nodded; trying to absorb everything I was feeling right now. No matter what this would always be the best date I had ever gone on. Matt took the necklace out of the box, quickly putting it on me with ease. Without thinking I leaned up and pressed my lips against Matt’s, my fingers tangling in his short hair.

Something felt different about this kiss. Both Matt’s and I’s lips were pressing together harder, a bit of urgency behind them. I didn’t know what was going on, but I sure as heck didn’t want it to stop.

I literally whimpered when Matt tore his mouth away, his breathing rigid. “Back to the house.” He rasped.

*

I couldn’t help but laugh as Matt stumbled through the front door, nearly dropping me onto my butt. He had insisted on carrying me into the house, in a rather inappropriate position. He was stumbling to get up the stairs to the bedroom, while trying to get his clothes and mine off. I continued my attack on his neck, giggling against his skin when he nearly tripped once again.

“Laughing is not nice.” Matt chuckled as he dropped me down onto the bed.

I smirked at him, “can’t help it, your just so funny Matt.”

Matt smirked before pressing down onto me, his dimples popping out. “Oh Kara, what on Earth would I do without you?” He mused pecking the tip of my nose.

“Be miserable.” I smiled wrapping my arms around his neck.

“True, this is why I never want to let you leave.” Matt smiled before pressing his lips back against mine.

I never wanted to leave either.

“Kara?”

I smiled sleepily as I looked up at Matt, my mind racing with what had just happen. Matt was my first date, and also my first time. However, the smile dropped from my face when I noticed the pained look on his face, like someone had almost stabbed him in the chest.

I sat up on an elbow, clutching the blanket to myself. “Matt? What’s wrong?”

He sat up slowly, looking down at me with sad eyes. “I don’t know how to tell you…”

“Just tell me….” I mumbled nervously. From somewhere downstairs I could hear the front doors opening, and the sound of the guys laughing.

“I… we…. You….”

My frown deepened.

“I killed your Father Kara... It was the favor Karen asked of us… we had no choice we were young and scared… We didn’t mean to we’re sorry…”
