Into Yesterday

Prologue

The young woman stared out at the Tampa Bay sunshine miserably. It was August, and her mother had shipped her off at the first chance she could, right before school started again.

“I’m worried about you, Rox,” her mother had said, playing the concerned mother very well.

“Why? Why do you take notice now?” Roxanna had wanted to shout at her mother, but instead she held her tongue.

She always held her tongue. And that’s why she was sitting in her Uncle Vincent’s large Range Rover. Just staring out the window and wishing she was anywhere but Tampa Bay, Florida.

Short, but hopefully extra points for exactly 100 words! I counted them both in Word and by hand and got 100 words. For some reason wordcounttool.com had be at 103. O.o

But anywhere, the inspiration for this story was based on these few lines from Falls Apart by Sugar Ray: All those words that hurt you, more than you would let it show. You can listen to the full song here.
