I reached for my phone that sang in my pocket. I opened my eyes slightly and yawned as I checked the caller id. Mommy…
"Fuck!"
I quickly sat up and answered.
"Hi Mom."
"Have you seen what time it is?!"
I checked my clock. 8:23pm.
"It's 8:23...."
“And at what time did you get there?”
“I’m sorry mom, but I got here exhausted from all the driving and well I kinda fell asleep.”
She sighed. “It’s ok; I just wanted to make sure everyone was fine.”
“Yea, we’re all fine.”
“Ok well, we’ll talk later Sevie.”
After she hung up, I put my phone back in my pocket and made my way downstairs.
“Hello, anyone home?”
“We’re in the kitchen, Sev.”
I walked into the kitchen and found Toma sitting on the counter while Claudia cooked.
“Where are the guys?”
Claudia shrugged. “Who knows but they did leave a note.”
“A note?”
Toma nodded and handed me a piece of paper. I took it and read it.
Don’t wait up ladies. We’ll be home late, so sleep tight. Xoxoxo Axel.
I rolled my eyes, crumpled the piece of paper and threw it away.
“What the hell are we supposed to do while those guys are out getting some ass?”
“Calm down Sevie.” Claudia laughed.
“We could always explore the house.” suggested Toma.
“True, there’s that.”
“You two go on and explore, I’ll cook us up some dinner.”
Toma and I nodded at Claudia. Toma jumped off the counter and led the way further into the house. We checked out every room we could find in the house, each one almost as big as the last. We then made our way back downstairs and out towards the backyard. The patio was pretty big and adorable. Toma and I took a seat on the chairs that were there and admired the sky.
“It’s about time we left Katy.”
I looked at her. “What do you mean?”
“Well just think about it, nothing good really ever happened to us there.”
I sighed deeply. “True.”
“I think this move was a good thing for you Sev.”
I pointed at myself. “For me, why do you say that?”
“Because I believe that out of all of us here, you’re the one that needed to get away the most.”
“I agree. There’s just too many horrible memories and heartbreak back there for you.”
Toma and I looked over to the back door that led into the house. Claudia had walked out and was now making her way over towards a chair that sat to Toma’s right.
“Well…I guess…”
“Don’t say you guess Sevie, you know it’s true.”
“Ok fine, yes you’re right Claudia.”
I then lifted up my legs onto the chair and held them close to my chest.
“Maybe there’s just something wrong with me.”
“Girl, please don’t make me smack you.”
I turned my head towards Toma and smiled.
“You need to stop being so negative about yourself. There’s nothing wrong with you.”
“Then why is that the guy I loved so much and was with for almost 5 years, cheated on me? There’s gotta be something wrong.”
“Maybe there is something wrong, with him. Not you.”
Claudia then sighed. “Sevie, you shouldn’t fear the concept of falling in love again.”
“How…”
“Sev I’ve known you since the 6th grade, I’m pretty aware of your fears by now.”
I couldn’t help but smile at her but my smile didn’t last.
“I’m just scared of getting hurt again and it’s his entire fault.”
“Ugh, that stupid manwhore I swear.” Toma balled her hands into fists.
Claudia put a hand on Toma’s shoulder. “Toma calm down, Sev and I know how much you wanna punch him.”
“Not just that, believe me.”
“Oh we believe you.” Claudia and I replied in unison.
I sighed again.
“Even if he did do that, I can’t help but still care about him. I still get his tweets sent to my phone and everything. There’s even times when I’m tempted to call or text him.”
“Ok seriously, now I wanna punch you.”
I giggled nervously knowing that she would totally do it.
“Toma chill and Sevie don’t you even think about doing it. He’s not worth your time after what he did.”
I slightly nodded at them both and stared back up at the sky.
“I still love him though…” I mumbled to myself.
“I heard that Sevie Rae.”
I looked over at Toma again. “Well it’s true, I’m not gonna deny these feelings I still have for him.”
“Sevie, soon enough you’ll meet someone that’s way better than that fucking manwhore.”
“But what if I don’t?”
“Ok seriously I’m gonna fucking kill you now.” Toma laughed.
We all then turned our attention back to the beautiful night sky. Suddenly out of nowhere, a star shot out.
“Shooting star, make a wish!” Claudia yelled.
I closed my eyes and made my wish. I wish to find my prince charming.
“Alright now that that’s done, let’s head back inside.”
Claudia and I nodded and followed Toma back inside the house.
“So what did you guys wish for?” Claudia asked.
Toma shook her head as she held the door open for me and Claudia. I couldn’t help but giggle once I saw the look on Claudia’s face.
“I was just asking gosh.”
Claudia had cooked up some spaghetti for the three of us. We each took a seat at the dining table and ate away. Once we were done, we all headed over to the living room to watch a movie. We all decided on ‘Despicable Me.’ Halfway through the movie, my phone began to vibrate in my pocket. I took it out and saw that I had just gotten a text message from my ‘Big Bro’.

Hey there baby sis. I heard from Matt that you guys moved to Dallas. When were you planning on telling me, you twerp? P.S. Muscles says hi. :)
I couldn’t help but smile at my big brother’s text. I loved him so much. I text him back.

After my last message was sent, I never got anything back. I just smiled and went back to watching the movie. Once it was finally over, Toma, Claudia and I decide to go to bed. I headed up to my room and changed into my Hello Kitty pajamas. I then crawled under my covers and placed my phone on the nightstand to charge. Before I could close my eyes, I received a text message. Thinking it was my big brother again, I didn’t even check who the actual sender was until I opened the message. I felt my heart shatter immediately.

I felt tears build up in the corners of my eyes. I deleted the message without hesitation and placed my phone back on the nightstand. I crawled deeper into my covers and quietly cried. The first night in a new home and I end up crying myself to sleep.
