Daddy to the Rescue

It's been a month since we've brought home Monroe and James.

And they are two little bundles of joy.

Monroe was my little princess, no doubt. And James was going to be a Daddy's boy.

Zachary is a great help to the new babies, always looking to help.

Though I do think he gets jealous when I spend time with James.

Since he was the new boy in town and getting my attention.

But I do try to make time for Zach, I would never leave him out.

Lately, he's been acting out. And I'm not liking that.

And that is not happening in my house.

Fuck that.

I haven't heard or seen Zachary in a while, actually.

"Arin!" I yelled out.
"What?!"
"Where's Zachary?!" I asked, looking throughout the house.
"I thought he was with you?" She asked, coming up the stairs.
"No, I thought you had him."
"Oh, shit." We said together, fear in both our voices.

We searched every damn corner of the house searching for Zach.

Worry coursed through my veins for my boy.

We ran outback to look for him, checking the pool first thing.

Thank God he wasn't in there.

"Mommy! Daddy!" Zachary cried out.
"Brian, he's in the tree!" Arin yelled out, pointing.

I looked up to see Zachary hanging on for dear life, high up in the tree.

"Hold on, Zach. Daddy's coming!" I yelled.

I jumped up onto the tree and started climbing. Ignoring when Arin would make comments, asking for us to be careful. I needed to concentrate so I wouldn't fall.

When I finally reached the highest branch where Zach was, I took him into my arms and slowly and carefully climbed back down.

Arin hugged as while Zach cried in the crook of my neck, shaking from fear.

"Zachary, do not ever scare us like that again. Do you hear me?" Arin yelled, then kissed Zachary. "Oh God, I'm so happy you're safe."

I kissed Zachary's head.

So thankful that he was alright and now safe.
