The Beach

16- Let's Get Carried Away

Sawyer picked up one of her older tops and tossed it over her body, turning to look at herself in the mirror. She had tossed her hair into loose pig tails, a few strands of her strawberry blond hair framing her face. She had put on some of her more colorful makeup that she wore more when she was younger. She had pulled one of her older skirts out of the closet that she had stitched band patches on and reached for the matching vest. She looked like herself about 5 years ago. She looked so young. It was so weird looking in the mirror and seeing a past version of herself staring back at her.

“This is going to be my favorite picture if that is what you’re wearing” Sawyer turned around to come face to face with Alex, standing in an old pair of swim trunks and a white tank top. His arm tattoo was covered with makeup, and so was the tattoo behind his ear. His hair was redone to look shaggier, and he looked just as he did years ago. Sawyer could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she looked at him. She felt as she did at 17, almost 18. Completely head over heels once more for Alexander William Gaskarth.

“You look so young.” Sawyer said with a soft smile, walking over to Alex. As soon as she was within reach, he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close before letting his hands rest on her hips. Sawyer brought her arms up to meet around Alex’s neck before gently pushing lightly to urge him to move towards her. He lowered his head, bringing his lips to meet hers awaiting. The kiss was tender and soft, and Sawyer couldn’t help but smile brightly into it. Kissing Alex was like nothing else she had ever experienced. Every time she pulled away, she felt like she never had enough. He was intoxicating and addicting.

They pulled their lips apart, but their foreheads stayed connected as they smiled with lidded eyes.

“Seeing you like this makes me feel 17 again.” Alex confessed, and Sawyer nodded in agreement.

“Hormones raging and sex filled thoughts.” Sawyer whispered, standing on her tip toes to bring her lips to his neck. She softly kissed the bare flesh, and Alex let out a soft sigh. Such a simple gesture, a simple touch, and Alex was weak in the knees because of Sawyer. The intensity felt from just one kiss was beyond what he had ever imagined, but every time him and Sawyer touched, even just held hands, he could feel the electricity.

“We were so wild at 17.” Sawyer continued, bringing her right hand into Alex’s hair, messing up the handy work done to it earlier. She gripped onto it, biting down onto the flesh on Alex’s neck, causing a moan to erupt from his throat. His fingers tightened at Sawyer’s hip, clawing into them. Suddenly, Alex was lifting Sawyer up and throwing her against the closest wall, going straight for her lips. Sawyer’s hands grasped at Alex as their movements became quicker, sloppier and more intense.

Sawyer’s hands started working on the tank top that Alex was wearing, her hands roaming under it, forcing it upwards. Just as she pulled it up and about to pull it over his shoulders, there was a gasp from behind them. Alex and Sawyer pulled apart and turned towards the bedroom door to find a very smiley Austin with red cheeks. She looked so much younger than she normally did, and she already looked so young as it was.

“Uhh. Sorry. The door was open. Uhm. We’re ready to start the teenage pictures. But uh. Apparently you two aren’t anymore.” She said, a bit of playfulness in her voice as she looked over the two now complete with messy hair and rumbled clothes. “Jayce is gonna kill you for messing up your hair Alex.” Austin said with a smirk, and Alex’s eyes went wide as he reached up and felt his hair.

“It’s not that bad?” Sawyer said, though it came out as more of a question than a definite statement.

“Jayce spent like, 40 minutes doing my hair to try and make it look like it did when I was 17. She’s gonna kill me when she sees it.” Alex said, just as Jayce appeared in the doorway, looking a few years younger than her normal self as well.

“ALEX” Jayce’s eyes went wide at the sight of his messy hair.

“Oh. Don’t blame Alex, Jayce. I’m sure it was Sawyer’s hands clawing at his hair that messed it up. You missed a very heated make out session about a minute and a half ago. And I’m sure had I not accidently walked in on it, there would have been a few less clothes, and his hair would have been hopeless.” Austin said with a chuckle as Jayce sighed.

“We promise that uhm, we’ll be downstairs in a minute to fix it and take the last of the pictures. Can we just have a minute alone?” Sawyer asked, looking at the two girls in the doorway, Both girls rolled their eyes before sharing a look and nodding at Sawyer. They walked away laughing at the couple, their voices fading as they walked down the stairs.

“I guess we got carried away.” Alex asked with a chuckle as Sawyer nodded, leading him to the bathroom attached to her bedroom. She sat Alex down in her vanity chair in front of the mirror and started fiddling with his hair, every so often meeting his eyes in the mirror and giving him a soft smile.

“I’m going to miss you over the few days Jake is here. We won’t be able to be so close to each other.” Alex stated, and Sawyer sighed with a nod.

“I know. It’s going to be really difficult because we’re always near each other during the summer. It’s hard staying away from you.” Sawyer confessed. They shared a small, sad smile in the mirror before Sawyer’s widened. “But I suppose that is what late night sleepovers are for.” She suggested, and Alex’s smile brightened as well.

“Three days. We can do it.” Alex confirmed, although he himself wasn’t truly convinced of the words he was giving to her.

When he wasn’t around Sawyer, it was hard enough not thinking about her. But when they were in close proximity, he found it impossible to stay away from Sawyer. He was beyond drawn to her and couldn’t help himself.

“Yea. Of course we can. Three days.” Sawyer confirmed, finishing Alex’s hair. Just three days.
