The Beach

32- We Want to Live While We're Young

“PARTY! PARTY! PARTY!” Jack screamed excitedly as he bounced around the house, causing a few small chuckles to fall from Sawyer’s lips. Jack’s child-like behavior was so infectious to Sawyer, she couldn’t describe it. It was just so hard for her not to be happy and excited when Jack was.

She let the smile on her lips expand as she started to get giddy herself, thinking about how much fun it was going to be now that she had agreed to let Jack throw a house party in her beach house, upon the condition that Jack had to help clean up everything in the morning. He had readily agreed to that, but Sawyer doubted that he would actually be much help in the morning, because she assumed he would be too hung over to be of any use. But she didn’t care, because she was going to be making him clean hung over whether he liked it or not.

“I can’t wait to see what you’re like drunk Sawyer. It’ll be fun having someone new around that’s drunk with us.” Austin said with a smirk and a small glint in her eye, and Sawyer quirked an eyebrow at the blond.

“What makes you think I’m gonna get drunk?” She asked, and everyone in the room started laughing.

“You’ll be around Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum over here” Rian said, gesturing to Alex and Jack, who yelled out a loud ‘hey’ at their new nicknames. “which means that unless you have the willpower of a saint, you’ll be drinking your fair share of the liquor cabinet tonight.” Sawyer looked to Zack and Jayce for confirmation, only receiving a nod from Zack and a small giggle from Jayce.

“AND YOU HAVE TO BE MY BEER PONG PARTNER!” Jack yelled, causing Sawyer to laugh and agree, not sure whether or not it was a really good idea .

“Well I don’t know that many people at the beach anymore, but I’m sure that there are people out there that would love to be invited to a party.” Sawyer said, and Jack nearly sprinted out the door to go find where all his ‘party people at’ as he broke out into a poor rendition of the Fergie and Nelly song. The remaining of the group laughed at Jack’s rampage out of the house, mostly not surprised that Jack was bouncing off the walls. He had been that way ever since Alex had come up with the oh so clever idea of hosting a summer party at the beach house. Sawyer had been a bit hesitant at first, but once the idea was in the air, Jack was persistent until Sawyer finally caved and agreed to let them throw a huge summer party.

“So I guess we just gotta do an alcohol run huh?” Alex said, earning a scoff from Sawyer.

“And clean. I don’t want to have to clean up broken glass. All the vases and breakable shit my parents keep here need to be put away somewhere safe, like a closet or something.” Sawyer said, and Alex rolled his eyes but agreed.

“Why don’t you and Alex go get the alcohol. He can pay since it was his idea. We’ll hide all the breakable shit and whatnot.” Jayce said, with the other three in the room readily agreeing, and Alex groaning.

“I like this plan.” Sawyer said with a laugh, moving into Alex’s side and hugging him. He groaned as he wrapped an arm around her in return, holding her close to his body.

“Of course you do. It means you get loads of alcohol without having to pay a dime for it.” Alex said with a roll of his eyes, and all Sawyer could do is let more laughs fall from her lips.

“Well the party was your idea. It seems only fair that since I’ll be the one cleaning up everything tomorrow, that you pay for all the alcohol.” Sawyer said with a shrug, her lips turning up into a smirk.

“It’s ok. I think Jack left his wallet, so I’ll make sure he splits the bill with me.” Alex said, causing everyone else to laugh.

Everyone split up at that point, going to get ready for the impromptu party that they were now throwing.

Sawyer and Alex sat in Alex’s car, Alex’s left hand resting on the steering wheel and his right hand laced with Sawyer’s left hand as he drove to the outskirts of town where the largest liquor store was settled.

“I can’t believe I let you and Jack convince me to throw a house party in the beach house.” Sawyer said with a groan as Alex took his hand from hers as he parked the car. Alex just laughs in response, the smile not disappearing from his face as he stopped the car and turned off the ignition.

The two got out of the car and headed inside the local liquor store, grabbing a cart because as Alex stated when he grabbed it “we’re gonna get sloshed,” which only made Sawyer laugh when he said sloshed.

“What exactly are we getting here?” Sawyer asked as they headed towards the first aisle.

“Anything and everything. Maybe not Gin. I hate gin.” Alex stated, and Sawyer laughed, but didn’t argue, because she wasn’t a big gin fan herself.

“Well you go and start getting stuff for tonight. I’m going to grab some wine for the rest of the week.” Sawyer said, and Alex nodded, not really paying a lot of attention to Sawyer as he stared at a few different bottles of tequila, trying to decide which ones he should pick out for tonight.

It takes an hour before the two are done shopping and are heading back to Sawyer’s beach house, the trunk of Alex’s SUV filled with more alcohol than Sawyer thinks is necessary, but Alex has assured her more than once during their shopping trip that they might not have enough, because there definitely wasn’t such a thing as too much. Sawyer had a hard time believing that when there were more than 15 bottles of alcohol and an entire Keg in the backseat, but she wasn’t an expert at parties, and Alex definitely was, so she figured since it was his money, she’d just take his word.

“WE HAVE ARRIVED WITH THE ALCOHOL” Alex announced as him and Sawyer walked in with a couple of the bags from the car, the rest sitting and waiting to be collected.

“My house looks, clean” Sawyer said as she looked at it as she made her way into the kitchen.

“We are in business” Jack said with a smile.

And Jack hadn’t been lying. By 9pm, Sawyer’s beach house was filled up with random people who were already well past buzzed, despite the early hour. And if Sawyer was being honest with herself, she was well past buzzed, clinging onto Alex and giggling as she tried to reach up and kiss his neck, but failing seeing as he was standing up straight and she was too short and too drunk to be able to stand on her tip toes well enough to actually reach his neck. Finally she settled for just grabbing at his crotch to get his attention, which worked efficiently.

Alex smirked at her, his eyes slightly glazed over and widened as he looked at the small blond next to him.

“Yes doll?” He asked, his attention pulled away from the random person he was talking to and focusing on Sawyer.

She didn’t really respond to him, but instead opted to reach up and pull his head down, crashing their lips together haphazardly, catching Alex a bit off-guard, but his mind could only focus on her lips on his, and just forgot about the person he was talking to.

It eventually led to Sawyer tugging Alex out of the living room and up the stairs, while trying to keep their lips locked the entire way, but their drunkenness was prohibiting that from actually occurring.

While Sawyer and Alex headed up stairs the rest of the friends watched them, laughing to their drunken selves.

“They are so perfect together and they just need to actually admit it.” Jayce said as Austin giggled with her, both going back to their drinks as they laughed, the boys shaking their heads at the girls gossip and their drunken horny friends.
