One Last Dance

One Last Dance

Rain was splattered on the windows, running down to the cold ground. The storm had been going strong for days. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t stop my best friend from leaving. I didn’t know how I was supposed to function without my other half.

I sighed and heard a soft knock at the door. I forced my body to get up and answer the door. I opened it up, wearing sweatpants, an old, huge t-shirt, and my hair up in a messy bun. Zacky smiled at me and said,

“You look good, Sage.” I sighed and half smiled at one of my closest friends. I hugged him slightly and said,

“Come in, Zacky.” He nodded and came in through the door. I shut it behind us and followed him to the couch. I sat down and lay my head in Zacky’s lap. He chuckled and started to run his fingers through my hair gently after pulling the hair tie out.

“What’s wrong, babe?” Zacky asked me. I groaned and said,
“You guys are leaving in a couple of days.” Zacky sighed and asked,

“You tell Arin your feelings for him yet?” I shook my head, or at least attempted to.

“No, and how the hell do I do that? Go up to him and be all, ‘Hey Arin, I’m in love with you.’ No, he’ll look at me like I’m a freak of nature, Zack.” He sighed and said,

“You need to tell him before someone else does and you lose him for good. Get over your pride and tell the man your feelings, dammit. I don’t want you to get piss drunk over him anymore, sweetheart.” I sighed knowing Zacky was right.

“I know, I know. It just scares me, Zacky. He’s probably the closest friend out of you guys and if he rejects me, things will never be the same.” Zacky smiled sadly and said,

“You know, you could come on tour with us if you wanted to.” I shook my head and said,

“No can do, Zack man. I have work. But, I am going to come to a handful of shows.” He smiled and said,

“Good, you better.” I smiled and hugged him tightly.

“Love you, Zacky.”

“Love you too, Sage.” Zacky stood up after we finished our hug and said,

“I’ll see you later.” I nodded and said,

“Yeah, we definitely need to prank Brian one last time before you leave me for three months.” Zacky pouted at me and said,

“No fair, don’t make me feel guilty God dammit!” I smiled and said,

“Bye, Zack. I love you!” He laughed and said,

“You better.” I laughed. I flipped through the channels trying to find something decent that would keep my attention longer than five minutes. I sighed and gave up my hunt.

I grabbed my phone and went to the contacts. I found Arin’s name quickly. I bit my lip in hesitation. My finger nervously pressed down on the send button.

“Hey, Sage.”Arin answered in his sweet but seductive voice. I bit my lip as I smiled, my cheeks slightly red.

“Hey, Arin. Do you, want to hang out?” I asked shyly. I heard his cute chuckle on the other end.

“Sure thing, babe.”I stopped myself from squealing. I swallowed it down and said,

“Ok, just come on in when you get here.” We said good-bye and I rushed to my bedroom. Arin had seen me the way I was many a time before, but I think I was ready to tell him. Oh my god, I’m ready. I smiled and slipped on some ripped skinny jeans, my Finding Nemo shirt, and some grey Converse.

I pulled a brush through my brown/black hair and threw a knitted hat on. I put some charcoal liner around my eyes and then finally, a touch of gloss on my lips.

I heard a knock on the door followed by Arin’s voice.

“Sage! I’m here.” I smiled and walked into the living room area of my smallish apartment. I went to Arin and hugged him tightly to me. I breathed in his smell, mint, cigarettes, and some kind of fabric wash.

“So, what do you want to do?” Arin asked me. I smirked and turned on my iPod, making Arin laugh as Who Knew by Pink came on.

I walked back over to him slowly. I wrapped my hands around his neck, smiling at the adorable confused expression that came on his face. I laughed and said,

“I want to dance with you, weirdo.” He laughed and slid his arms around my waist and we began to move. I laid my head on his chest and sighed. This was heaven for me. I looked up at Arin and saw he was smiling at me.

“You’re one of a kind, Sage.” Arin told me softly. I smiled and said,

“You are too, babe.” He smiled and suddenly smirked.

“I have an idea.” Arin said. I smiled and said,

“Uh oh. Usually your ideas end up being bad and getting us into trouble.” Arin laughed and said,

“No, this one really is. I pinky swear.” I smirked and grabbed his pinky with mine. He laughed and said,

“You are such a goober, but that’s ok. You’re my goober.” I laughed and followed Arin out of my apartment. We walked outside the building.

“Arin! It’s raining!” I said laughing to him. He grinned and grabbed my hand, sparks flying with us as we ran out into the deserted street. Arin wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close.

We started to dance in the pouring rain. I laughed and said,

“You’re crazy, Arin!” He laughed and then stopped. Arin looked down at my lips and then back to my eyes again. I licked my lips as we began to unconsciously move towards each other. It was some strong force pulling us together, almost magnetic.

In moments, our lips were latched onto each other’s. This was the kiss that I had been waiting for. The kiss was sweet yet sexy as Arin put just the right amount of passion into it. His lips were perfect, molding into mine as if they were made for my lips. We fit together like puzzle pieces. After Arin finally pulled away, he whispered,

“Can I have one last dance?” I nodded and hugged myself to him as we softly held each other, swaying back and forth to the music playing in our hearts.
