"How are you feeling today Mr. Davis?" I asked looking at his vitals

"I'm doing ok" he said with a half smile

I looked at him and asked

"Are you having any pain or do you just want to get out of here?"

"Both" he said

"Does your head hurt or is it somewhere else?" I asked

"My head hurts"

"Ok, I'll go get you some asprin. And I have good news for you, you're being released tomorrow afternoon" I said with a smile

I saw him smile and he said

"Thank you"

"Not a problem, now I'll go get your asprin for your headache" I said and walked out of the room and went to the nurse's station.

"Hey, Amber can you get some asprin for the patient in room 520?" I asked sitting in one of the chairs.

Being 5 months pregnant and swollen ankles can be exhausting I thought

"Sure, I'll go take it to him" Amber said

Then my cellphone started going off. I looked at the I.D. and it was Anthony my boyfiend.

He knows I'm at work, why is he calling I thought and ansered the phone

"Hello?" I asked

"Hi sweetie, do you have a minute?" he asked

"Yeah, what's up?"

"Do you think you can a bail bonds for me?"

"What did you do Anthony?" I asked getting worried

"I got a speeding ticket and I didn't have my proof of insurance, I forgot to put it in the car"

"Alright one second" I said and I saw Larenzo

"Larenzo, do you know any bail bonds?" I asked

"Um, yeah, Da Kine Bail Bonds, they helped my girlfriend get out of jail, they're good" he said

"Thanks" I said to him and he walked over to the filing cabniet.

"Try Da Kine Bail Bonds" I said to Anthony

"Alright, I love you" he said

"Love you, bye" I said

"Bye" and we hung up.

The rest of the day went by slowly, and when I went on break I went to go take a sonogram. It was 5pm when I got off and I went home. Once I was there I went inside and saw Anthony sitting on the couch watching the news.

"Hey" I said sitting down by him

"How was your day?" he asked looking at me

"It would've been better if I wasn't 5 months pregnant with swollen ankles and tired all of the time" I said

"It will be over soon, um, Sam, we got to go down to the bail bonds" he said

"Why?" I sighed

"I have to finish the paperwork"

"Ok, lets go" I said getting up.

And we got into the car and went to Da Kine Bail Bonds. We were almost there when Anthony asked

"What's wrong?"

"You didn't even asked me how the sonogram went today" I said

"Oh, that was today, I'm sorry, so are we having a boy or a girl?"

"We're having a boy" I said with a smile

"That's great" he said with a smile.

We arrived at the bail bonds and went inside. Once we got inside I saw 3 people one had long blonde hair and he wore sunglasses, the next one had long brown hair that was braided and the third one was a female and she had blonde hair and a big bust. She noticed us and said

"How may I help you two?"

"Um, I'm here to finish the paperwork" Anthony said

"Who bailed you out?" she asked kindly

"Um..."

"You don't know who bailed you out?" I asked

"I forgot his name but we had short brown hair" Anthony said

Just then someone entered the room with short brown hair.

"Glad you came inside Duane Lee, your client is here to finish his paperwork" the blonde woman said

"Thanks Beth" he said

"If you guys would follow me" he said with a smile and we walked into his office.

We all sat down and Anthony done his paperwork and I heard

"So how far along are you?" Duane Lee asked me

"I'm 5 months along" I said with a smile

"Do you know if it's a boy or a girl yet?" he asked

"It's a boy" I said with a smile

"Well congradulations" he said

"Thanks" I said

"Do you think you can be my co-signer Sam?" he asked while sounding irratated

"Sure" I said

Once he was done we went back home, ate and went to bed.

4 MONTHS LATER

Anthony was at work while I stayed home alone because I was on maternity leave and I was due any day. I got up from the couch and done the dishes since that was the only thing to do so I wouldn't be bored all day. Once I was done I sat down back on the couch and dozed off. I woke up to the front door shutting, I looked at the clock and it was 6pm and then I looked at Anthony.

"Hey, how was your day?" I asked

"Shut up" he said

he came and sat down by me and started watching T.V.

"Is everything ok?" I asked

he looked at me and I could see that he had been drinking because his eyes showed it. He grabbed my left wrist and said

"Didn't I tell you to shut up?"

"Anthony, let go, you're hurting me" I said with tears in my eyes

"I told you to shut up" he said and slapped me with his right hand. He never hit and I knew I had to get out of the house before he hurt me more or hurt the baby.

So I yanked my arm back as hard as I could and got up, he got up too and came towards me and grabbed both of my wrists. The only thing I could do to defend my self was to kick him in his family jewels and once I did that he let go and I ran for it. I grabbed my keys that were on the table which was right by the door thankfully and I ran to my car and drove away. I drove to the place that I've been going to for the past 4 months because Anthony got into more trouble, Da Kine Bail Bonds, I got to know all of them. Once I arrived I ran inside with tears rolling down my cheeks and Lyssa came to me and said

"Sam, what happend?"

Anthony" was all I could say before I started sobbing

Lyssa sat me down in a chair and went to get the others. Once she came back with Dog, Leland, Duane Lee and Beth, Beth came over to me and hugged me like I was a child. Dog said worriedly

"What's wrong Sam?"

"Antohny, he came home drunk and hit me, he never hit me before" I said inbetween sobs

"Shh, it's ok, you're safe now" Beth said

I finally stopped crying and said

"I don't want to be his co-signer anymore" I said and looked at Dog

"Good, I was going to ask if you still wanted to be his co-signer, Duane Lee take her to your office and get her off of that" Dog said

I got upand went into Duane Lee's office. When he came in he handed me a bottled water.

"Thanks" I said

"Not a problem" he said and went behind his desk to retrieve the papers.

Once I was off of the bond me and Duane Lee heard

"Sam I know you're here, get out here NOW!"

Duane Lee got up and went to his door and I stood up and I was behind him scared.

"There you are" he said making his way over to us I then heard

"Don't you take another step you M*****F****** woman beater!"

I saw Dog and Leland with mace cans ready to spray him

"And if I don't" Anthony taunted and took another step closer to me and Daune Lee

I then saw Leland pounce on Anthony and bring him to the ground and handcuffed him.

"You're going to jail you woman beater" Dog said in his face when Leland picked him up off the ground.

I was relieved that no one got hurt, but my relief went away because I felt a sharp pain in my stomach.

"OW!" I hissed and grabbed my stomach

Duane Lee turned around and asked

"Are you ok?"

"No, I think the baby is coming"

"BETH, LYSSA SAM HAVING THE BABY" he yelled

Beth and Lyssa ran into the office and helped me into one of the SUVs. Before we pulled off Beth said

"Duane Lee go with Leland and your dad."

2 HOURS LATER

I was in my hospital room with a baby boy asleep next to me in his bed. I then heard a light knock on the door and I saw the Chapman crew with presents. Beth had a blue and white stripped bag, Lyssa had a light colored green bag, Dog had blue and white flowers, Leland had a balloon that said 'Congradulations', and Duane Lee had a balloon that said 'It's A Boy'.

"You guys didn't have to buy anything" I said with a smile

"But we wanted to" Beth said putting the bag down and going to the baby

"May I?" she asked

"Sure" I said she then oicked him up and took him to Dog

"Isn't he cute?" she asked

"What's his name?" Lyssa asked

"Reece Anthony White" I said

"How cute" she said

Beth finally put him back into his crib and looked at me and she saw the concern on my face and asked

"What's wrong?"

"I just realized, Anthony's in jail, I don't have a home to go to" I said with tears in my eyes

"Sam, we can help you" Dog said

"You guys have done alot for me these past 4 months, I'll only be a burden" I said with a tear running down my cheek

"You're not a burden, you're like our family" Beth said

"Since, we're like family we're going to stick by your side" Dog said

"I have a feeling I'm not going to win this battle" I said trying to stopped myself from crying

"No, you're not" Dog said

"Well, where am I going to stay at?" I asked looking at him

"Well, since me and Beth have a house full of kids, there's no room, Leland has two kids in his house, so there's no room there, Lyssa lives in an apartment, so there's no room there either, so I guess you're stuck with Duane Lee, he has one kid, but there's enough room for you and Reece" Dog said

I looked at Duane Lee

"Are you sure you want me at your house with a newborn?" I asked trying to get out of them helping me out

"Yeah, I'm sure and my son won't mind" he said with a smile

"Well that settles it, Sam you're staying with Duane Lee until you get back on your feet" Dog said

"Well it looks like we need to go, I will pick you up when they release you" Beth said giving me a hug

"Ok" I said

We all said our goodbyes and I went into a peaceful sleep.
