The Silent Confession of an Emo

Just another day

A raven haired boy sat on a swing, digging the toe of his shoe into the dirt, the rusty chains creaking as he slowly rocked back and forth. He was in his own little world when another boy passed him, followed by a group of girls a short distance away, giggling and whispering excitedly. The small boy on the swings looked up to see what was going on when he saw him; long, shaggy brown hair, emerald green eyes, golden skin. He looked around the age of 12. The emo boy gasped softly. He was beautiful, so perfect. Gabriel watched him as two other boys ran up to him, asking if he wanted to play with them. One of the boys held a football. The girls followed and cheered on the side of the field. The emo boy slid off the swing and crept closer sitting in the grass under a tree to watch. The game was two on two. The golden boy's team just needed one more touchdown to win. The golden boy's teammate blocked one of them as the golden boy glided gracefully past, faster than the other boy left on the opposite team and made it to the goal. the girls cheered and went up to the golden boy and his teammate. The raven decided to congratulate them too so he slowly walked up, hiding his face with the hood of his black and blue hoodie and his hair. The group got increasingly quiet as the strange boy walked up to them. He lifted his head, a shy smile on his face. "You looked cool when you made that last touchdown" the boy said sheepishly. The golden boy blushed as his friends snickered and muttered to themselves. He turned and quickly shoved the smaller boy, causing him to fall in the mud. "Go away! You act like a girl!" He replied and walked away with his still laughing friends. The emo boy looked down, hiding his face that was red with embarrassment. Someone blocked the sun, casting a shadow over him. He looked up, tears threatening to fall. A girl with platinum blond hair in high pigtails offered her hand to him, her deep blue eyes read concern. "Are you okay?" she said in a silky voice. He took her hand and stood, nodding. She pulled him toward the building that held the bathrooms near the park and into the girls’ bathroom. "I saw what happened. That was really mean of him." she said as she wet a paper towel and pulled his hood off to clean off the mud on his face. She paused. "what..?" The boy said quietly. "Nothing, you just have pretty eyes. I'm Allison." she smiled. The emo was taken aback a little. He had never been complemented before, other than his single mother. "Thank you... I'm Gabriel." He said shyly. She smiled. "well, Gabriel, lets promise to be best friends forever!" she exclaimed, holding out her hand. He nodded and took her hand and smiled.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BE-

The raven haired teen sighed as he removed his hand from the alarm clock. He then rolled over and went back to sleep. A half an hour later, his door was thrown open. Footsteps were heard and a deathly bright light flooded into Gabriel's once nice dark room. He squeaked and shrunk into his black sheets and blankets for shelter from the harsh light. Soon his shield was ripped away too, sending him to the cold, hard wood floor. He shot up into a sitting position, glaring at his best friend and partner in crime, his hair sticking up everywhere. She giggled.

"C'mon Gabe, don't be mad. You know I love you” she said, handing him a towel and pushing him towards his bathroom.

He grumbled something unintelligible and sighed dramatically.

"Shower. Quickly. I'll pick you out an outfit." She ordered in a motherly tone. He sighed but did as he
was told.

After 20-minutes, he opened the door, towel around his waist and his hair dripping wet. A Blood on the Dance Floor tee was set next to a pair of black skinnies. He dressed quickly and slid on his rainbow studded belt. Allison had the same one. He slid his feet into his green vans and stood in front of his best friend.

“Well?” He said, rubbing his tired eyes.

Allison nodded in approval and they headed towards school.
One thing they learned quickly about their highschool was the fact that individualism was not very common. Many of their fellow classmates liked to color inside the lines their mommies and daddies forced on them. So it wasn’t uncommon for the pair to be gawked at or made fun of as they walked through the front doors of their private school. The two ignored the murmurs that followed them down the hallway and found a quiet place to wait for hell to begin.

They talked for a while when they heard a door nearby open. That’s the moment they realized they were near the locker rooms. Bad day to be too; there was football practice this morning. The football team liked to pick on the duo because they choose to stand out.
Gabe bit his lip ring as the team passed by them. Most of them left Alli and Gabe alone but there was one group who saught them out on purpose just to harass them. Seth and his lackeys.
Gabe prayed that Seth wasn't here today since he normally skipped Monday practice. Alli gripped his hand and pulled him up.

"C'mon, let’s move before Seth and his crew gets here." Alli said wearily.

She kept looking from the emo boy to the open locker room door. Gabe nodded and they started down the hall.

"Hey, freaks!” a voice said.

Their eyes widened and they broke into a run. Four sets of feet followed not too far behind. Alli and Gabe picked up their speed, turning and heading for the stairs but Alli was falling behind, tripping over her feet as they got to the first step. Gabe pulled her up and they got to the first landing in between the first and second floor before the group caught up. Two of the jocks grabbed them and dragged them back to where Seth waited, a smirk on his features, his emerald green eyes glittering as he examined the face of the raven haired boy.

Seth nodded and one of the jocks picked Alli up and held her back as the other two got their hands on Gabriel and pinned his arms behind him. They all knew what was coming and Alli was determined not to let it happen. She struggled to get out of the jock's grip but it didn't do much. Seth walked up to Gabe and looked into his deep hazel eyes for a moment and punched him in the stomach. Gabe coughed and winced. Seth punched him again, twice, three times, four times, Alli was screaming at the football captain, tears forming as Gabe coughed horribly and struggled to get a breath in before the next blow hit. The teen soon fell limp, his legs giving out underneath him and the two jocks let go, letting his head hit the tile floor with a thud.
Alli twisted in the athlete’s grip, streaks of black running down her face.

"STOP IT, SETH! GABE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOU!!! STOP!!! PLEASE!!!" Alli cried.

Seth looked at her with an annoyed expression.

"This queer needs to learn his place." Seth growled.

"He didn't do anything to you! EVER!!!" Alli screamed.

Seth shook his head and walked over to her.

"Ahhh... see that is where you are wrong, Alli, dear." he purred, caressing her cheek before gripping her jaw tight.

She glared hard at him and spat in his face. He slapped her hard. She looked down at the floor.

"You're disgusting, Seth.... Let it go, that was five years ago.... We were children." She spat

He glared at her and left, his lackeys following soon after. She watched them in disgust as they high fived each other and laughed. They were the scum of this school. She didn’t know how they got away with all the shit they did. She couldn’t worry about that now though. Gabe needed her. Crawling over to her best friend, she shook his arm gently.

"Gabe......? Gabey....??" she whimpered.

His eyes slowly opened and the ghost of a smile appeared on his lips.

"He’s… not much of a morning person… is he?" Gabriel said weakly.

Alli smiled, fresh tears blurring her vision and hugged him. He slowly sat up, wincing and inhaling sharply. He checked to make sure nothing was broken before he stood, using the railing for support. Alli wrapped an arm around him and he leaned against her.

"I promise, Gabe, we'll find a way to stop this..." Alli whispered.

Gabe nodded, wincing as he straightened to support his own weight as they approached the classroom door. They took their seats, totally ignoring the English lesson. As the teacher droned on, Gabe asked himself the question that comes up whenever this happens: Why does Seth do this? It has to be a deeper reason then what happened at the park five years ago. Is it just because he and Alli are different? If so, why does Seth have such strong, mixed emotions when he hits him? He always has this other emotion hidden in his eyes. Why doesn't he harm Alli if that's the reason? She’s just as unique as he is if not more.

He looked over at the blonde who was currently drawing some elaborate getup. Possibly another one for her folder. She always wanted to be a fashion designer. Gabe sighed and went back to his questions, sketching little figurines into the margins of his notebook. He could never answer any of them.

Slumping down in his seat, he tried his best to concentrate on the lecture; even took a couple notes but after rereading them, they made no sense. He sighed and let his pencil drop onto the desk. It was no use. All he could think of was Seth and how he looked good in the color green, which was the color of the shirt he was wearing today. His hair was messy from practice and he was getting a bit of a tan from being outside so much.

Doesn't Seth get that Gabriel cares about him a lot? I guess not, he's too busy beating the shit outta him. If only he could tell him. Would that make it better or a whole lot worse? He contemplated the pros and cons but eventually decided against it. It was too big of a risk. Seth was far too unpredictable and he didn’t want to make things worse than they already were.
