Fire in the Rose Garden

Snapdragon

Duff knew deep inside that those two would end up together in some way. It was a matter of time before one of them couldn't stand been so far from each other even if they were together almost every day. He smiled when he saw how happy they were with each other with out keeping it a secret. It was so refreshing.

Lucas went towards Duff. "Yes, Sir?"

"Did Lady Peony leave?"

"Not yet Sir," Lucas stared at nothing, thinking.

"All right, thank you. Did you get the ring?" he said a little excited and a little nervous. Even if Duff was ten years older than Lucas, saw the two of them grow up, gave Rosemary training into be a successful and reliable maid he couldn't help but to feel like one if his children was getting married.

"I'm afraid not Sir. There were some slight problems in the store but they promise me that in a few hours they will notify me to get the ring." Lucas nodded a little concerned. What is a proposal with out a ring? He knew that Rosemary wasn't that kind of woman and he loved that about her but his pride as a man was on the line. He needed that ring. "Can I say something Sir?" Lucas nodded still looking concerned. "I think you should be the one who picks the ring despite the price. Knowing her, she would prefer a ring chosen by you, Sir." Lucas took the idea into consideration and thought that Duff was right.

"You are right," he grabbed Duff's shoulder and gave it a playful squeeze and smiled. "Thank you." Duff smiled and nodded.

"You are very welcome Sir." Lucas patted Duff's shoulder and went towards Rosemary and told her that he had to leave for a moment but that he will come back as soon as possible.

"All right love, but please come safe." Rosemary touched his cheek and pecked his lips. He nodded with a smile that no women can make him do it; only her.

Peony saw how he yelled every staff of the house to come to a meting. She was not invited because she was spouse to be heading back but she stayed, she was still not giving up. He entwine his fingers with Rosemary's and announced that they were getting married. People cheered, others looked at them weird because it was rare that a rich man as Sir Black was marrying a commoner such as her. They were thinking she was in it for the money.

When she saw that Lucas entered the carriage she took the opportunity to make her move on the little maid. After Rosemary said her good byes she walked to the rose garden. She loved it too much to not be separated for too long. She was raised there along with the roses. For her it represented her love towards Lucas, full of passion and love. When she bend to smell one of the roses she heard some footsteps. She turned around and saw Lady Peony.

"Hello there, maid." they way she said it made Rosemary stepped back. "I heard that you are getting married to Sir Black." Rosemary didn't say anything. "You see little girl, I can't have you two doing such thing. I have worked so much to get to Lucas' side and I can't let you take him away."

"What? Didn't you love Sir Knight?" Lady Peony giggled. "How can you make a move of your husband's best friend?"

"Oh silly girl. I can because I never loved him from the beginning. Let's just say I helped with the process of death." Peony smirked.

"You killed Sir Knight!?" she nodded like it wasn't a big deal. "Why are you telling me this?"

Lady Peony smiled like she was expecting that question, like she wanted Rosemary to ask it. "Because my dear," she took a big candle and lighted it. " Because you are also going to die," then she threw it on the roses making them catch on fire.
