Prologue
Every school has them.
That one guy everyone looked up to. The one guy who was more popular than most others, better looking, confident in everything he did and seemed to be successful. It didn’t matter what he did; play some sort of sport, be in a band, smoke – it always seemed cooler than if anyone else did it.
Then that one girl. Who looked up to everyone around her, who had a select group of friends, who got high grades in all her subjects and who was totally in love with the most popular guy in school.
In my high school the one guy was Zachary James Baker – rhythm guitarist in a band and star of the baseball team.
And the girl?
Well…she was me…
