Sweet Home Arizona.

One.

“Do you John take Macy to be your wedded wife. For richer or poorer. Through sickness and in health. As long as you both shall live?” John looked down at me and smiled.
“I do.”
“Do you Macy take John to be your wedded husband. For richer or poorer. Through sickness and in health. As long as you both shall live?
“I do.” The preacher nodded his head.
“Okay by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you both man and wife. John you may now kiss your bride.” John lifted my veil and kissed me passionately in front of our friends and family.
“Ladies and gentlemen please help me welcome Mr. and Mrs. John O’Callaghan.” The church erupted into cheers. John and I walked hand in hand down the isle and out the door. All our friends were already outside; rice in hand. We could still hear the congratulations being yelled as we drove off to John’s grandparents house.
“I love you so much Mrs. O’Callaghan.
“I love you too Mr. O’Callaghan.”

“Babe if you don’t get up your going to be late for brunch with my mother.” I opened my eyes but instantly closed them. The sun was shining brightly through the big bedroom.
“Macy did you hear what I said?” I looked over at Luke and groaned.
I always hated having brunch with his snooty mother and all of her club members. I felt like I was on trial every time I saw them. “What time is it?” Luke pulled his shirt over his head and looked at him watch.
“9:35.” I pushed the covers off of my body and placed my foot on the hardwood floor. I looked out the window at the view of Manhattan. It was days like today that I really missed the dusty streets of Arizona.
“I’ll be at the office all day today so after brunch, you can come by and visit. Just make sure you call first.” I nodded my head and headed into the bathroom. I turned the shower on and stripped out of my pj’s.
10 minutes later, I wrapped the towel tightly around my small frame. I opened the door and saw Luke was still getting ready for work. I loved the boy to death but he took longer than I did to get ready.
“Oh I forgot to ask you, Bradley wants to know if you want to go with Lydia this weekend?”
“Where is she going?” I dropped my towel and pulled on my underwear and bra.
“Vegas; it’s like a girls weekend.” I shrugged my shoulder.
“I don’t really feel like going to Vegas. I still have a lot of work to do and I planned on doing it this weekend.” Luke walked over to me and wrapped his strong arms around me. I loved being in his arms but someone else’s arms always felt better. “Well I think you should just drop work for the weekend and go to Vegas with the girls. It will do you some good and it will also take your mind off the wedding.” He kissed me softly on the neck and walked back to the bed. He pulled on his suit jacket and looked in the mirror one last time. “I hope you have a good time today babe. Make sure to call me when brunch is over.” I nodded my head and kissed him on the cheek. “Have a good day babe.” He gave me a wink and walked out the door. I ran my fingers through my wet hair and caught a glimpse of the massive engagement ring that was placed on my finger. I was 3 months away from marrying the most perfect guy in the world. Luke was everything that a girl ever wanted. He was smart, charming, had a very good job, and was very passionate about things. But sometimes he was just to perfect for me. He didn’t drink unless it was a special occasion. He worked out everyday for 3 hours. And he had to look perfect everyday. I sometimes wondered why he was even marrying me. I shook the thought out of my brain and continued getting ready. I had to look my best or else Luke’s mother would have something negative to say. I chose a simple white t, black sweater, black skirt, and a pair of Mary Janes. I thought I looked really good but I’m sure Lillian wouldn’t think so.
I walked out into the streets of Manhattan and started making my way to the restaurant. It wasn’t’ that far away so I could basically walk.
5 blocks after, I arrived at the fancy eatery and of course Lillian was late. Luke was so worried I would be late, but I was on time. The waiter brought me to the table and took my drink order. I sat there and basically twiddled my thumbs waiting for her.
“Madame your guest has arrived.” I looked up and saw Lillian walking towards me. A fake smile plastered on her caked face. “Macy, dear, so sorry for my lateness. I received a new driver and he has no clue where to go. Plus all of these tourist all over the place, no wonder why New York has such a bad rep.” She took a seat and ordered the most expensive Champaign on the menu; typical Lillian.
“Have you and Luke gone cake tasting yet?” I shook my head no. Luke was always to busy to do anything.
“No but we plan to like next week or something.” She just nodded her head and looked around the restaurant. There was a very awkward silence between us but that ended when my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller I.D.; not recognizing the number. “Please excuse me Lillian.” I stood up from my seat before she could say anything. “Hello?”
“Is this Ms. King?” I hesitantly said yes. “Ms. King this is Arthur Brewster, from Brewster At Law. I’m calling you in regards to the divorce papers you mailed to us.” I was really confused now.
“Is there a problem with the papers?”
“Well yes there is Ms. King. You see Mr. O’Callaghan did not sign off on the divorce. I realize that you are getting married in a couple months, but the marriage won’t be legal unless your marriage to John is final.”
“So are you telling me that John didn’t sign the papers?” I was beyond furious right now.
“That’s exactly what I’m saying Ms. King. We can mail them back to him if you would like?”
“No that’s fine. I’ll take them to him myself.”
