Sweet Home Arizona.

Twelve

I was growing more and more nervous as I got closer to the store. Luke refused go tell me what Lillian wanted and at really irritated me. I thought people thtat were about to get married didn't keep secrets from each other? She was probably going to kill me and stash me in a broom closet or something. I could see the store from where I was standing but there was no sign of Lillian. Well this was just typical, she was never on time. I walked across the street and was now at the front enterance of the store. All sorts of people were walking past me living their New York City fast pace life.
"Macy, it's so wonderful to see you." I turned around and saw Lillian in all her expensive glory.
"Why did you ask me to come here?" I know the question was kind of harsh but I didn't trust this woman at all.
"well since my son still intends to marry you, I figured you needed gifts for all the people in your wedding. Plus I have an appointment set up at Vera Wang's for a dress fitting. Oh, and you and luke have an appointment for cake testing as well. We have three weeks to get everything together but I'm sure we can do it." I looked at her like she was insane. "What do you mean the weddings in three weeks?" She looked over at me and smiled.
"I want the wedding to be moved up so you won't have a chance to go running back to that boy in Arizona. I will not have the future president of the United States be dumbed by some tramp going back to her ex-husband." I literally felt like punching the bitch in the face. "Why do you think I've planned all this stuff out. I'm doing this to keep yup preoccupied. The woman is the one who really does all the wedding stuff. All Luke has to do is agree on the things you want, or in reality, what I want."
"So are you telling me that this is basically your wedding?" She simple nodded her head and walked into the store.
I was about to follow her in but my phone started ringing.
"Hello?"
"Hi, is this Mrs. Mason O'Callaghan?"
"Um yes it is. Who is this?"
"We represent your ex-husband Mr. John O'Callaghan. He dropped by our office this morning and dropped off a bill of divorcement. He told us that we needed to send them back to your lawyer but he wasn't quite sure who that would be. So all we need from you is the name and address of your lawyer."
"Oh, okay." I told him the address and name of the lawyer and that was it. I kind of felt relieved that John had finally turned e papers in but in a way, it kind of hurt. I know that I was marrying lull and everything but John would always be my first love.
"Macy we don't have all day." I rolled my eyes at Lillian's statement and followed her into the lavish store. I had never in my life been inside a Tiffany's store. I mean I saw it on movies and stuff and always wanted to go inside. I lived in New York City for almost 5 years and I never once thought about going inside. Weird right?
"Now we have to get your bridesmaids and maid of honor something really nice. What do you think they would like?" I shrugged my shoulders and looked around. You see the trouble with trying to figure out what they wanted was that I didn't have any idea who my wedding party was. I didn't get to pick my bridesmaids or my maid of honor. I had girlfriends but they weren't suitable enough to be in my wedding. Lillian anther army picked who would or wouldn't be in my wedding.
"Macy, aren't you going to help with any of this?"
"Its kind of hard to pick out things for people I don't even know."
"Macy you need to get rid of that attitude and start helping. Now just start picking out stuff and I will decide if it's good enough." I rolled my eyes and just walked away.
My first wedding was not this stressful or even this much of a pain in the ass. John and I worked together and decided what we wanted. Mom and Jenny helped us out also but they didn't take full control. John and i's wedding was a so simple yet so beautiful. We had it in this little park and all our friends and family were around us. Even though I was 3 months pregnant, I had a awesome time! Now is wedding was going to be a different story.all is was doing was giving me a major headache. I loved Luke and everything but I just wished we could have stayed boyfriend and girlfriend.
"oh my goodness! Macy come look at e gorgeous tennis bracelets. They would be so good for gift."
I slowly made my way over to her and looked into the case. I had to admit the bracelets were nice but the price was outrageous.
"Lillian this is way to much money to pay for a piece of jewelry."
"Well your not paying for them are you?"
Her snotty attitude was getting a little to much out of hand. She asked the lady behind the counter to wrap up 7 of those bracelets. I guess I should be happy that I wasn't spending my money...
"Okay since that's done, we have a appointment with Vera Wang." I followed her out of the store and into the awaiting limo.
"I can't wait to see you in the beautiful dress I picked out. Vera herself said it would look perfect on you."
"Vera Wang has never saw me before?"
"Well I brought in a picture of you and showed her." how in the world did she get a picture of me? "Remind me to return it to my wonderful son." Oh that's how.
The ride to the dress shop was probably the longest 10 minutes of my life. The traffic was horrible considering it was lunch time. I could feel Lillian's eyes boring into me.
"I hope your not going to invite any of your low-class Arizona friends are you?"
"Well, yeah. They're my friends and they deserve to be there. What, do you think I'm going to invite John?" She rolled her eyes and started to fix her make-up.
"I just don't want my son's special day to be ruined."
I was about to say something but I felt the limo come to a stop. Seconds later, the driver opened the door and helped Lillian out.
"I hate that you came dressed the way you did." I hate that i didn't come without a gun...
As sons as we walked through the door, a lady bombarded us, well more like Lillian.
"Oh darling, you look so fabulous!" They gave each other a hug and then turned to me. "And who might this young lady be?" She looked me up and down, more than likely judging my appearance.
"This is Luke's fiancé, Macy."
"Oh, h-how lovely." I rolled my eyes and looked around the store. There were people everywhere just staring at me like i was white trash. In all the years I lived in New York, nobody had ever looked at me like this. Lillian must have shot off her big mouth and told everyone what happened back home.
"Lets get you some dresses to try on." She grabbed a hold of my arm and lead me to the dressing rooms. I was pushed into one and told to hold on. I could hear the lady asking why Luke would want to marry a girl like me. What could he possibly see in her. What happened to the other girl he was with. She was so much prettier and perfect unlike this one. Yada yada yada! I took a seat on one of the chairs and just stared down at the ground. I still couldn't understand why Lilian was picking out everything. This was supposed to be my wedding. MY WEDDING!
"Okay Lacey, here's the dress Lillian wants you to try on. Just come out when your done." She shoved the dress into my arms and slammed the door shut. I was so close to just start cussing someone out; preferably Lillian and that stupid dress lady.
I hung the dress up and just looked at it. I had to admit, The dress looked very pretty. I quickly stripped out of my street close and got the dress off the hanger. As I was pulling the dress onto my body, I couldn't help but start thinking about my first wedding. It was the best day of my life. John and I didn't have a big wedding. It was just our families and closest friends and that's all we needed. If it was up to John and I, we would have gotten married in a court house or something. I can still remember what my dress looked like. It was not even close to what the one Lillian wants me to wear. It was a short, simple white dress. John was dressed in a pair of slacks and a dress shirt. We were 18 year old kids that didn't have a care in the world. I wish I could still be like that careless 18 year old. The only thing I had to worry about was being a good mother and an awesome wife. I have changed a lot since that day and I don't feel like it's been for the better either.
"Macy, what's taking so long?"
"it's kind of hard to zip up a dress by yourself Lillian." I opened the door and stood in front of the two of them.
"Turn around." I did as I was instructed and Lillian quickly zipped the dress up. "Oh my goodness, this is defiantly the one. Macy take it off so Susie can ring it up."
"Don't you want to hear my opinion?"
"Why would I need to hear that." And with that, she walked away.
I almost tore the dress off of my body. I was so sick and tired of her and her bullshit. Thank God this was the last thing we had to do together today!

I walked into my apartment and saw Luke was still here. What in the world was he doing here still?
"How was your day babe?"
"It was interesting. What are you doing here; I thought you were going back to your place?" He took my hand and led me into the living room.
"I have something to ask you?" I took a seat on the couch and looked up at him. "Okay since we are getting married in three weeks, I thought maybe we could finally move in together. As you know, I have a huge penthouse and it would be beneficial for both of us if you moved in." I looked at him like he was insane.
"I thought we were foxing to wait until after we were married to do that?"
"Well I can't wait that long. Plus I already told your landlord today that you were moving in with me. He is going to put the apartment up for sale in two days."
I instantly shot up from the couch and pushed him back.
"What do you mean you told him that I was moving in with you? I never agreed to that Luke. What the fuck is wrong with you?" I stomped through the apartment and into my bedroom. I slammed the door behind me and collapsed on the bed. I felt like everything in my life was falling apart. A girl isn't supposed to be stressed out the weeks before her wedding, but I guess I was an exception!
