Sequel: Say Something

Sweet Home Arizona.

Eight

"So are you nervous?" I looked over at John and nodded my head.
"Aren't you?"
"Not really. I mean they aren't my parents so I'm not really worried." I rolled my eyes and continued to look out the window. Today was the day that we were going to tell my parents that I was pregnant. We had told John's parents a while back and they were absolutely thrilled. My parent's on the other hand, we're going to be a different story. I wasn't so worried about what my dad was going to say, but my mother hated John for some reason and she was definitely going to cause a scene. I could already hear what she was going to say playing in my head. "You are too young to have a baby. You aren't even married; you're ruining you life. Why couldn't you have waited. Blah Blah Blah." I was really in no mood to hear her bitch about this.
"Mason everything is going to be alright." John placed his lips on my hand and smiled at me. "I love you."
"I love you too John."
After about 10 minutes, we finally arrived at my parent's house. My heart was beating like crazy and the butterflies were going crazy in my stomach.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Was he seriously asking me that now?
"It's now or never John. Why, are you scared?" If he was getting scared then we were screwed.
"Of course not Mason; let's go." He helped me out of the car and we walked hand in hand up to the house. Like always, my mother was waiting at the door for us. "Hi Macy." She pulled me away from John and wrapped her arms around me.
"Hey mom."
"It's so good to see you baby." She placed a kiss on the top of my head and released me from her death grip. I could see in her eyes that she was not happy at all to see John. "John; nice to see you as well."
"Right back at ya Mrs. King." My mom absolutely hated when John said stuff like that to her. He did it on purpose and she knew it.
"So Mom, where's dad at?" She snapped out of her rage and turned back to me.
"He's actually not home yet, but he's on his way home." She gave me a smile and pulled me into the house.
"So what brings you two here anyway?"
"Well I really want daddy to get here so we can tell the both of you." She looked over at me and started frowning. "What's wrong?"
"Mason Lauren King, please tell me you aren't pregnant?" Oh God."MASON!" I could feel the tears start pricking my eyes. She was so pissed off and I haven't even told her anything yet.
"Mom, p-please don't b-be m-m-mad okay?" She ran her fingers through her hair and started pacing around the living room. I looked over at John and noticed how calm he was. The ass was even smirking at my mother's reaction.
"HOW COULD YOU BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE MASON! YOU JUST GOT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL AND NOW YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT YOU'RE HAVING A BABY WITH SOME GUY?"
"John isn't just some guy mom, he's my everything." She rolled her eyes at me answer and took a seat on the couch. "We are more than capable to have this baby mother. Plus John's parents told us they would help out with everything."
"I can't believe you Mason.; I'm so disappointed." That was the worst thing you could ever hear from a parent. "I can't even look at you right now. Just get out of my house before I do something drastic. I'll tell your father you stopped by." She got up from her seat and walked into the kitchen.
How could she be so heartless about all of this. She was going to be a grandmother; most women are happy about that.
"Let's go baby." I walked back over to John and wrapped my arms around his waist. I was crying so hard that it was making it impossible to see. "I'm so sorry Mason."

"So what happened last night Mason?" I looked up from my pancakes and over at my dad.
"What do you mean?" He layed his paper on the table and smirked at me.
"Well your mother came to bed all pissed off; saying something about how you were with John all day." I rolled my eyes and stuffed a piece of blueberry in my mouth.
"I got super drunk and John took me to his house. Nothing happened dad, mom is just overreacting like always."
"She loves you Mason and she doesn't want to see you hurt again."
"Yeah, I know." I got up from the counter and placed my dish in the sink. I looked out the window and saw the beautiful Arizona sun coming up over the mountains. You could never see stuff like this is New York unless you lived out of the city. "It's beautiful isn't it?" I nodded at my dad's question.
"It sure is, makes me miss this place even more."
"Why don't you and whatever his name is move out here?"
"Luke would never move out here daddy. He has too much to do in New York and this place would just boar him to death."
"Well you could always dump him and go back with John." I let out a loud sigh and walked away from the window. "What?"
"Dad I'm not getting back with John. That ship has done sailed away and it sank like the Titanic. I'll talk you later." I walked up the stairs and into the bathroom to get ready for the day.

I parked my car outside of Garrett's house and took a couple deep breaths. I had no idea how this was going to go, after all I did insult him pretty bad. After I assured myself that everything would be okay, I got out of the car and jogged across the road. I walked up the stairs of his house and knocked on the door.
"HOLD ON!" I stood there awkwardly waiting for him to open the door.
Seconds later, Garrett appeared in front of me and he didn't look very happy.
"What do you want?"
"I came to apologize for what happened the other night. I was so drunk that I had no idea what I was saying."
"What you said was really hurtful Mason. You know first hand how hard it was on me when Lilly left. I would never say anything like that to you."
"I know Garrett and I'm truly sorry for that. I love you so much Garrett and I never want to hurt you like that again. You're like my big brother and I hate knowing that you're pissed at me. Do you forgive me?" He looked at me and started smirking.
"How could I not forgive you Mason." He pulled me into his arms and gave me a bone crushing hug.
"Garrett, I uh can't breathe."
"Oh, my bad." He released me from his grip and just smiled. "So I'm throwing a party tonight and your ass better be there."
"I'll try to make it. It just depends on what I'm doing."
"What in the world is so important that you couldn't make it to my party. Do you remember how awesome my parties are?" I couldn't help but laugh at his reply.
"Okay, I'll be there."
"You better." In the pit of my stomach I knew something was going to go down at the party.
"I love you Garrett."
"Love you too Mace."

So I arrived at the party 30 minutes late and let's just say, the house was to its maximum capacity. Garrett always knew how to throw a party, but I've never seen this many people show up.
"look what the cat dragged in." I spun around and saw vito standing behind me.
"hi Vito." we embraced each other in a hug.
"how have you been. The lat time I saw you was the night you and John tore out of the venue like two bats out of hell." he shot me a smirk.
"Yeah, well Garrett wanted me to come so here I am."
"well it's good to see you again Macy."
"it's good to see you too Vito." he was about to walk away but stopped short. "oh and by the way, John was looking for you." my heart started beating out of control. Why would John be looking for me?
"thanks vito." I walked further into the house and out into the backyard. It seems that there were more people outside, if that was even possible. Everyone seemed like they we're having a blast and here I was worrying and just wandering around.
"it's about time you got here." that voice, it was so melodic but so sexy.
"Vito told me you were looking for me. What do you want John?" I turned around and saw him in all his sexy glory. Wait, mason you can not be thinking that again. You have Luke waiting for you back home. John is nothing but a distant memory.
"I just wanted you to have a little fun. I mean what happened the other nit at the bar may have been fun for you, but we won't go there again. "So do you want something to drink?"
"a water would be nice." he started to laugh and walked over to the open bar. I watched as he poured a bottle of water into a red cup for me and also one for him. This really surprised me; John always drank at parties. He quickly walked back over to me and handed me the cup. I couldn't help but stare at him as he starts drinking out of his. "What?"
"Why aren't you drinking alcohol?" he almost chocked on his drink.
"I don't always drink alcohol Mason. I've actually cut down from drinking."
"Well congratulations." I took a sip of my water and just looked around. Everyone was either drunk or half way there. I was still very surprised that John wasn't one of them."do you want to go inside?" I nodded my head and started following him through all the people. Somewhere along the way, I found my hand cupped inside of John's. I wasn't really bothered by it at all,it actually felt pretty normal.
After walking all through garrett's house, John finally decided where he wanted to go; a spare bedroom. He closed the door behind us and took a seat on the vacant bed.
"well aren't you going to sit down?" I hesitated for a moment and slowly walked over to him. " I promise I won't bite mason." I rolled my eyes as I placed myself on the bed.
"so what are we doing in here?"
"well I figured we could talk about stuff. Plus I remember how you hated crowds so I thought this would be better." I nodded my head. "so what do you want to talk about?"
"it's up to you John." he took another sip from his cup and placed it on the dresser.
"when are you going back to New York?"
"hopefully soon, but the weird thing is, I don't want to really leave Tempe. I forgot how nice and peaceful it was here and I haven't had any of that since I left."
"You really don't have to leave."
"Yes I do John; everything I have is in New York."
"You could always buy new stuff Mace."
"But I can't buy Luke." John let out a loud sigh and stood up.
"you wanna get out of here?"
"Where are we going to go?" he looked at me and smirked.
"it's a surprise." he pulled me up from my place and dragged me out the door. We pushed past the all the drunk party members and out to his truck.
"John, where on earth are we going?" he hopped into the drivers side and started the engine.
"Do you trust me?"
"yeah bu-."
"then just enjoy the ride." he pressed his foot to the gas and sped off down the road.
About 15 minutes later, he pulled onto a dirt road. I was getting kind of scared and I had no idea what we were going to do.
"where are we?"
"Don't you remember this place?" I shook my head no. "well here in a minute you definitely will." He continued to drive into the wooden darkness. "do you remember what we did after prom?" I looked at him with a confused face. How could I remember something that happened 6 years ago.
"No." he let out a loud sigh and turned his head to look at me.
"do you remember anything we did when we were younger." I really did remember some of the stuff, but it was mostly the fighting that went on between us. After I left Arizona, all the good memories we shared basically went out he window. "well do you?" I rolled my eyes for the millionth time tonight.
"Can you please just tell me where we are going. I'm so tired of playing this silly little game." he stopped the car and shut off the engine.
"what happened to the girl that loved being adventurous? You used to love when we did stuff like this."
"Well that was a long time ago John. That girl that you knew is long gone and never coming back."
"Well I plan on bringing that girl back tonight." he jumped out of his truck and started walking in the darkness. I really didn't want to be left alone, so I got out of the car and followed him. This was rurally ridiculous; all that time on tour must have really gotten to his brain.
"See you finally decided to join me." I pushed all different types of trees and plants out of my way.
"Yeah, well I didn't want to get eaten by a mountain lion."
"Mason, you've spent to much time trapped in that city." he took a hold  of my hand and pulled me further into the woods. It felt like we were walking to the edge of the earth. It was dark, cold, and scary; three things I don't deal with very well.
"How much longer do we have to walk; my feet are killing me?"
"Maybe if you didn't wear high heels, your feet wouldn't be hurting."
"Nobody told me that I was going on a fucking nature walk John!" he stopped at looked at me. I could seen his gorgeous green eyes glistening in the moonlight. "Take off your shoes and I'll carry you the rest of the way."
"What am I supposed to do with my shoes though?"
"Just leave em'." looked at him like he was crazy.
"I can't leave these shoes; they were super expensive."
" I guess you can walk the rest of the way then." he started walking again, leaving me just standing there. "okay, fine." I unbuckled my shoes and pulled them off of my sore feet. John walked back over to me and stood in front of me. "okay, jump." I did what I was told and jumped on his back. He let out a groan and slowly started walking.
"Your acting like I weigh 400 pounds." I wrapped my arms tight around his neck.
"I am not. It's just that I'm not used to having someone hanging off of my back. Plus we are almost there anyway."
"yeah, that's what you said 10 minutes ago."
"this time I mean it. It's just around this big group of trees." he passed the trees and there it was. It was the most sweetest thing I've ever saw in my life. A small fire was burning, two chairs were set up, and John's guitar was waiting to be played.
"What is all this for?" He brought us over to the chairs and lightly placed me back on the ground.
"I told you that I had a surprise for you." I took a seat in the fold-out chair and watched as he picked up his guitar and sat in front of me. "So I wrote this song after you left and i've been waiting so long for you to hear it." I placed my hand over my mouth and just stared at him. He hadn't even started singing the song yet and I was already crying.
"I thought I had my girl but she ran away
My car got stolen and I'm gonna be late
For work this week, make that the 4th day straight,
But I'm fine with it
I thought I had it all but I gave it away
I quit that old job now I'm doing okay
Those material things they can't get in my way
Cause I'm over it
But wherever she may be
She could be money, cars, fear of the dark
Your best friends, or just strangers in bars
Whoever she is, whoever she may be
One thing's for sure, you don't have to worry
Yeah this is the part where you find out who you are
And these are the friends, those who've been there from the start
So to hell with the bad news
Dirt on your new shoes
It rained all of May til the month of June
But wherever she may be
She could be money, cars, fear of the dark
Your best friends,or just strangers in bars
Whoever she is, whoever she may be
One thing's for sure, you don't have to worry
Every day in every way she will look the same
Every kid you used to have just seems to float away
Every day in every way she will look the same
Every kid you used to have just seems to float away
To hell with your new shit
And whether or not you think you fit in
She could be money, cars, fear of the dark
Your best friends or just strangers in bars
Whoever she is, whoever she may be
One thing's for sure
She could be rainy days, minimum wage,
A book that ends with no last page
Whoever she is, whoever she may be
One thing's for sure, you don't have to worry." He placed the guitar next to his chair and looked at me. "What do you think of it."
Instead of answering him, I leaped out of my seat and placed my lips on his. I still had tears running down my face, which was very embarrassing. "I loved it John!" he wiped away the stray tears and smiled. "I'm so glad." He placed his lips back on mine. In the back of my mind, I knew this was extremely wrong. Luke would never do something like this behind my back.
"You wanna go back to my place?" without even thinking, I stared dragging him through the woods and to his truck.

I was meaning to get this out yesterday for the fifth anniversary of The Maine, but I kind of got a little busy. I'm so sorry if this update is filled with mistakes. I wrote it on my iPad and this thing has a mind of it's own. Hopefully the next update will be written on my laptop, so there won't be so many mistakes. I just want to thank all the people that updated on the last chapter. I figured I would make this one a little sappy before the crap starts hitting the fan. I also put my own little twist on the story now. One of the awesome commenters told me I should do this and I totally agree with her. But trust me, it won't stray away from the story line like before! So I hope you all like the update. Please let me know what you think and the next update will be out soon!!
Laura!!!
