Whoever She Is

"I can't believe we leave to meet the boys on tour in a week." Dakota said sitting on Grace's living room couch.
"Yeah me neither."
"What do you want to do today?" Grace asked standing up stretching.
"I heard Nate Lucas from our Econ class senior year is throwing a party."
"Ok so."
"We should go." Dakota said standing up
"Yeah we should."
"Should we call and tell Cassadee and Jasey about the party?" Grace asked.
"They're not going to be able to go. Remember their camping with Jasey parents."
"Oh yeah." Grace said as both of them walked into the kitchen.
"You're going to spend the night tonight right."
"Of course." Dakota said.
"Let's take my car D."
"Ok sounds good to me."
"Who do you thinks going to be there tonight?" Grace asked while driving to the party.
"Probably everyone we graduated with."
"Oh great."
"Grace what's the matter with seeing people you graduated with?"
"Let me see I don't like a lot of them."
"Well you’re going to be fine."
When they got inside they found Nate.
"Hey ladies." He said pulling them into a group hug. He had obviously started drinking already.
"Hey Nate." Dakota said pulling away slightly.
"You guys know where the beverages are. Party on." He said walking into the living.
"I can't believe you used to like him." Grace said to Dakota.
"Hey he's cute. He just gets a little weird when he drinks." Dakota said as she grabbed them both red cups.
"Ok. What are you drinking?"
"I'm not sure. What are you drinking?"
"Dakota I can't drink I'm driving us home."
"Oh that's smart. I think I'm just going to drink Malibu and Sprite."
"Well well look who we have here." Grace froze knowing exactly who said that.
"Alek." She turned around shocked.
"Hey Grace." He said giving her one of those smirks that used to make her melt.
Grace didn't know what to say. She looked over to Dakota for support and she gave her a supporting look.
"Hey Dakota." Alek said.
"Hey Alek." Dakota said.
"What Grace you're not going to talk to me?"
"Hey Alek." She said leaning against the counter. Since her and Alek broke up back in senior year she had pretty much avoided him at all cost.
"Dakota do you mind if I talk to Grace alone for a few minutes?"
"It's ok." Grace told Dakota knowing she'd be ok.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah I'll be fine." Dakota went off into the living to find someone to talk to in the huge crowd of people.
"How have you been?" Alek asked walking closing the gap between him and Grace.
"Great. I have a boyfriend now."
"Oh really is it someone I know?"
"No."
"Oh who is he?"
"Garrett."
"Does Garrett have a last name?" Alek said laughing slightly.
"Yeah Nickelsen."
"Why does that sound familiar?" Alek asked confused.
"Because he's in The Maine."
"Wait that was your favorite band."
"They still are." Grace said moving away from Alek and walked over to the fridge and grabbed a water.
"How you get a rock star boyfriend?"
"I met him randomly in Starbucks."
"Sounds interesting."
"Alek is there a reason you wanted to talk to me exactly?"
"I just wanted to see how you're doing. Is that wrong I still care about you?"
"That's funny because you never cared about me." Laughing slightly.
"Just because I cheated on you doesn't mean I never cared about you."
"You sure have a weird way of showing it."
"I'm sorry I cheated on you."
"It a little late to say you’re sorry."
"Well I am sorry."
"I hope your rock star makes you happy."
"He does and I love him."
"Well he's a lucky guy."
"I got to go." Grace said walking towards the living room to find Dakota.
She was shocked when she found her kissing Nate.
"I hate to break whatever this is up but I need to talk to Dakota."
"Ok." Dakota said pulling away shamefully.
When they got out front Grace said "Do you mind if we leave?"
"Why do you want to leave?"
"Because this whole Alek being here is just super awkward."
"Ok let's go."
The two of them walked down the street to Grace's car.
"So any reason in particular you and Nate were making out?" Grace said laughing slightly.
"I don't know. I liked him and high school and he's still cute."
All Grace could do was laugh.
"Just shut up and Drive."
