Inside Your Eyes

The Reveal

The van pulled up several blocks away. On the walk there, climbing through a secret passage to the top of a building, I was given strict orders to stay on the roof until I got the call to do zip-line through the eastern glass window. "Why do I have to wait?"

"A villain needs to be introduced properly."

"Oh, I haven't even thought up an alias..."

"Well, you have about five minutes to do so," he kissed me on the lips and leaped off the side of the building, crashing into a window to make his entrance.

As I observed people cowering in fear, I began to think of a name Jester is too plane, Con is too obvious because of my last name, Doll maybe? My face does sorta looks like a doll. Nah, too innocent sounding. Wait I got it! I'll be-

My radio buzzed, which was my signal to make my big entrance. I skipped off the rooftop, aiming my feet forward so my face didn't crash into the glass. To my surprise, I landed perfectly on the floor.

The Joker gestured toward me, "May I present, my latest weapon," he looked at me in a way that told me to say my alias name.

"Ruse," the women cowered, the men looked at me in shock and awe. I would too. Dressed in a white tank top (stained by red paint), leather crop jacket (biker style), short black shorts, fishnets, and combat boots, I was beautiful yet deceptively deadly...a ruse.

I walked past the civilians to the police. One attacked me with his guard stick. I dodged and punched him in the ribs, causing him to lose his breath and fall behind me. The next officer took out his gun, "T-take one more step and I'll shoot ya!"

I looked at him sideways, pulling a gun out of my shorts. I shot him before he could even pull the trigger. Countless guns cocked around me. I observed them wondering if they would shoot me or not. One of the Joker's goons shot at them, and without hesitation they nailed him right between the eyes.

One officer laughed, "If you aren't careful, you'll end up like him. Now put your hands up!"

I put my hands in the air, "Ok, you got me." Raising my hands triggered a small defense system in my bra. Two knives poked out of my bra, confusing the two police in front of me. The knives shot right at their throats, killing them instantly. I knew the first reaction of the others would be to shoot so I ducked. Bullets whizzed past my head, hitting the officers on the other side. Eleven of Gotham's finest fell dead in a circle around me.

When the last one fell to the floor, I looked over at the Joker and winked, "So predictable."

Henchmen ran out and gathered different jewelery. A diamond choker caught my eye. I clasped it around my neck. Walking up to one of the men hugging the floor, I tilted his head up, "Does this make me look beautiful?"

"Y-y-yes...!" he stammered.

"Good boy," I pet his head and wandered to the Joker's side, "We almost done? I'm starting to get edgy...Batman hasn't shown up yet."

"Relax, you can't be afraid, he's just a-" more glass broke and we heard some of the men getting beaten, "I stand corrected. Let's go," he heaved a bag of jewels over his shoulder.

We were almost to the ladder outside when Batman cut in front of me, "You know its rude to cut in line," I said.

"You also shouldn't steal things," he grabbed my wrists and shoved me against the brick wall.

"Oh, but it was so pretty," I managed to hike my leg up far enough to kick him in the crook of his neck, sending him to the ground. I ran towards the ladder, but he grabbed my ankle making me do a face plant into the cement sidewalk Ok that one hurt!

Footsteps walked past me, "Let go of her or I'll shoot," I looked back to see the Joker with an automatic gun aimed at point black range towards Batman.

Batman was lightning quick when he disarmed him. They got into a fist fight that led into the streets. I followed but froze I can't kill him... I panicked and took passing hostage, "Stop fighting or she dies!" I held a knife to her throat. They both stopped. I could see the Joker sticking his hand behind his back to pull out a gun, "Joker, let's go!"

The Joker grunted and stood by my side, "Do you have any idea what a hostage will do to our plans?" he whispered in my ear.

"Do you have a better suggestion?" we began walking away.

"Kill Batman."

"I'm not risking you getting hurt!"

The hostage moved, "Not to butt in on this, but Joker, I'm a huge fan!"

"Oh...um thank you?"

My eyes rolled Great I picked a fangirl.

"Who are you?" she asked me.

"Ruse, now shut up and follow."

"Don't have to tell me twice," she smirked and I grimaced, "And you can take that knife away, I'm not like those girls who will scream."

I looked at the Joker, "Should I?"

He shrugged, "If she runs we can just shoot her."

I removed the knife and she rubbed her neck, "By the way, I'm Cordelia Heart," she put a hand out to shake the Joker's hand.

He looked at her arm, then looked at her, "Nice to meet you?" He turned around and climbed the side of the wall. Making it back to the van was relatively easy.

The henchmen were waiting for us, "Boss, who's that?"

"Hostage. Throw her in the back with the rest of the stuff."

"Got it," two men grabbed her and took her away.

"Something about her makes me uneasy," I said.

"Oh, do you feel jealous?" a toothy grin slid across his face.

"Sorry, your dreams of a cat fight are crushed. Something's familiar about that girl, and I don't like it!"
