Resistance Is Useless

1/1

You know that kid who gets pushed into lockers, made fun of on a daily basis, the one who the teachers don’t even like?

I’m that kid.

Maybe it’s not my fault. Maybe I don’t have anyone to blame. It might’ve just been fate or how twisted my life is. It could’ve been the bullies, the jocks or Charlie Henning from third grade. But whatever the reason, I still have hope.

I only have a select group of friends. A normal sized bedroom. Everything physically about me is relatively normal. Except my brothers. Oh god, don’t even get me started on my brothers.

If I had to blame anyone for being a messed up kid, I would blame my brothers. Alex didn’t leave High School without a bang. Maybe it’s his fault the teachers are mean to me. Maybe they want to punish me for his rude behavior. Maybe they just don't like me.

Alex Gaskarth is the definition for a troublesome boy. His friends always act like wild hoodlums and never know when to stop talking. Minus Rian and Zack. Especially Zack, oh dear lord. I could go on for days about Zack.

Maybe I have a small crush on Zack Merrick. Maybe he doesn’t know. Maybe he’s not gay. Maybe Alex knows this and uses it as blackmail. Maybe everyone but Zack knows this, just maybe.

“Stop daydreaming!” Alex snapped, suddenly shoving me aside. “God, Cam. Sometimes you’re just so damn useless.”

I scowled at him before suddenly standing to my feet, crossing my arms. “If you’re just going to insult me I'm going to leave...”

“No!” He barked, “Just sit down!”

“You’re so damn bossy….” I muttered under my breath.

“And stop talking about me too!” He yelled, jogging into the kitchen. “I’m not deaf, geez.”

“Maybe if you wouldn’t be a rude ass half of the time I might actually be nice!” I exclaimed, throwing my hands up. “It isn’t like you deserve for someone to be nice to you.”

“Luckily for you,” He grinned deviously, “Your rude ass brother invited his friends over. And yes, that means Zack.”

“Don’t speak in third person.” I shook my head, “You sound creepier than normal.”

“You’re not even going to thank me?” He deadpanned, narrowing his eyes the slightest bit.

“Zack and the guys come over almost everyday.” I shrugged, “It’s nothing new to me.”

“Oh,” His blank look began curling into a smirk, “I may have left out a major detail.”

I blinked and leaned closer, raising my eyebrows. “Go on.”

“I may have let it slip that you have a small, tinsy tiny crush on him.” He shrugged, a smug smile plastered onto his face. “No need to thank me.”

“You did what?” I hissed, lunging to my feet, “How dare you! You goddamn mother fucker. You- you- bastard. God, Alex. What’s wrong with you? Go to hell you douche-”

“We can come back later…”

Me and Alex froze, glancing up to see Rian, Jack, and Zack standing in the doorway. Jack ignored their protest as he stormed in, running to the fridge. I swallowed before sucking in my bottom lip.

“Naah,” Alex waved him off, “The kids on his period.”

Jack scoffed, cocking his hip to the side. “You told me that guys couldn’t have periods. You’re such a liar.”

“You’re an idiot,” Rian muttered, shoving by him.

“I’m your idiot!” Jack grinned, plopping onto his lap.

“Well,” I sighed standing to my feet. “I’m going to my room to leave you and your friends to make out and do who’s knows what.”

“Oh you know you wanna join!” Jack laughed, thrusting his hips.

“I agree with Jack,” Alex smiled knowingly, “I mean, it isn’t everyday you get a chance in a lifetime, right Zack?”

The color from my face instantly vanished, leaving me paralyzed to my spot. I suddenly clenched my eyes shut, not prepared to hear Zack’s answer. What if he decides to tease me about it? I know Zack’s not the type to do that… but still.

“Mhmm,” Zack nodded, a smirk curling around his lips. “I mean, what’s life without a little risk?”

Holy flying shit balls. He did not just say that. Those words did not just float past his gorgeous mouth. I need someone to pinch me. I think I’m dreaming. There is no way in hell that Zack Merrick is attracted to me.

In anyway.

“You okay?” Alex questioned, stifling his laughter. “You seem a little pale there.”

“I-I’m fine.” I stammered, running a hand through my hair. “Never been better. Ever.”

“Maybe you should go lay down,” He offered, motioning up the stairs.

“I s-said-”

Alex waved me off, shaking his head. “Zack, go take him to his room. He hasn’t been feeling to well today.”

My eyes widened in disbelief. Oh my fucking god. Zack Merrick’s going to carry me! Oh my god, oh my god. Don’t panic. Whatever you do don’t-

I shrieked as I was abruptly lifted from the ground. Zack chuckled and shook his head, a smile tugging at his lips. Okay, I’m fine. He didn’t freak out when I screamed.

I didn’t have time to blink before we emerged into my room. He carefully sat me down on the bed, stuffing his hands in his pants pockets. I watched him with mild interest as he surveyed my room.

I couldn't help but grow mesmerized by his face, his well toned chest. The small, memorial tattoos that littered his collarbone. The way his v-neck dipped down, almost teasingly.

No- Stop! Stop thinking about it. He doesn't like me. Why would he like me? I'm Alex Gaskarth's little brother. Little. I'm short. Skinny. Frail.

"Nice room," He smirked, eying my carefully.

I gulped and nodded, my teeth chattering. Zack Merrick's in my room. Zack Merrick thinks my room is nice. Zack Merrick-

"You're very quiet," He observed, cocking his head to the side.

Zack Merrick thinks-

"I like you." He breathed out, shuffling closer. "Alot."

Oh my fucking god. Mother fucker. Holy wolverine ticks. I can't- I'm going to have a panic attack. I can't believe Zack fucking Merrick likes me. Alot. Holy baby Jesus, holy sweet baby Jesus. I can't- I-I

"Are you okay?" He inquired, furroewing his eyebrows in concern.

I offered him a weak smile, my nerves getting the best of me. He lifted my chin up with his forefinger and gazed down at me, his smile reaching his eyes.

I bashfully ducked my head, attempting to hide the blush that began to spread across my freckle covered cheeks. He chuckled and squatted down, snatching ahold of my hand.

I squeaked and jerked it back out of reflexes. He frowned and suddenly stood up, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

"I guess Alex was lying.." He trailed off, sighing. "It wouldn't be the first time."

I sucked in a deep breath and began hesitantly sitting up, gnawing on my bottom lip. I watched closely as he spun around on his heel, shoulders hunched over as he began walking towards my bedroom door.

"Wait!" I exclaimed, finding my voice.

He froze in his steps, shaking his head as he leisurely turned around, his face contorted into mixed emotions. A questioning expression replaced his crest fallen features as he raised an eyebrow curiously.

I let out a shaky breath before stumbling to my feet, licking my lips. Okay, at least I know he won't reject me. I reasoned with myself as my anxiety started getting the best of me. I know he's not going to laugh..

I stopped mere inches from him, peering up at his intimidating form. A small smile was tugging at his lips as I hesitantly laced my hands with his calloused ones, tugging him back over to the bed.

"I'm sorry.." I murmured, "I just didn't know what to do or say.."

"Anything." He breathed out, a grin adorning his face.

I giggled and shrugged innocently. "I k-k-kind m-maybe like you too.. So Alex w-wasn't lying about that.."

His face spread into a wide shit eating grin, showing off his pearly white teeth. I didn't have time to blink before he jumped up, crushing me to his chest. I grinned and giggled, wrapping my arms around him.

He breathed out, nuzzling his head into the crook of my neck. "You smell good," He murmured, running his hands through my hair.

"T-thanks." I stuttered, offering him a shy smile.

"You shouldn't be so bashful." He scolded, "I've known you for quite some time. You should be used to me by now."

"Y-you intimidate me." I confessed, gnawing on my life.

He chuckled and lifted my chin up, flickering his eyes around my face. "If I asked to kiss you what would you say?"

"I-I-I u-um, maybe-"

"Resistance is useless." He murmured, allowing his breath to fan across my face. I couldn't help but just think about how his rough, chapped lips lips were pressing against my feverish feminine ones, "Cameron."

I sighed in pure bliss and melted into his warm embrace, inhaling his musky scent. His fingertips briefly skimmed across my cheek bones, tracing the curve of my nose. My eyelids fluttered briefly before they fell completely shut.
