My Tattooed Angel

Deja Vu

Erin's going to be at the stable today. Even though I am pregnant, I'm still going to supervise. I neatly fold Brian's letter and put it in my pocket. Zacky's hanging upside down on the couch.

"Bored?" I ask.

"Yeah...hey where you off too?" Zacky asks sitting up.

"Stable. Wanna come?" I ask.

"Sure, I haven't seen good old Chance in a while." Zacky says sliding his shoes.

"He's not old...he's only thirteen. And YOUR 27." I say.

"Fine." Zacky says.

I laugh and head out the door. Zacky follows me. We're already in California, so getting there isn't too much of a hassle. I pull up to the driveway and slowly make my way to the barn. I get out. Erin is grooming Camden.

"I didn't think you would come." Erin says.

"I may be pregnant, but I'm not disabled." I say.

Zacky walks into the barn swatting at a horse fly. Erin gives me a weird look.

"Thats Zacky." I say.

"Another Band mate?" Erin asks.

"Yup." I say.

Erin gets Camden all tacked up and leads him to the arena. I watch her for a couple minutes but then go to Chance.

"Look boy, a note from Brian." I say pulling the piece of paper out of my pocket.

Chance sniffs it and looks at me like I'm crazy. I don't think he gets that it's from Brian. I slip it back in my pocket. Zacky comes up from behind me and pets Chance's nose. Chance steps as far as he can and puts his nose to Zacky's stomach and just smells him. I have to get a picture of this. Chance picks his head up and licks Zacky's arm. I think he remembers him, then again who could forget Zacky. I laugh, his expression is priceless. When Erin leaves I grab Chance's lead rope and take him out of his stall.

"What'cha doing?" Zacky asks.

"Just going for a walk in the woods." I say mounting Chance.

"You can still ride?" Zacky asks.

"Yeah, It's not like I'm going over four feet jumps." I say.

"Can I come?" Zacky asks.

"Sure, if you can get on." I say.

After a couple minutes, Zacky gets on Chance's back.

"Hang on." I say giving Chance a squeeze

Chance goes into a canter, a slow easy one.

"I thought we were going for a walk." Zacky says.

"I lied." I say.

I know perfectly well that I shouldn't be cantering while pregnant, but I'm not going to fast, so I think I'll be OK if I keep Chance under control. This is total deja vu, Zacky and I use to do this all the time when we were still together.
