My Tattooed Angel

Another broken Road.

I wake up crying. What happened today just keeps going on in my head, I can't take it anymore. I sit up and hold my knees to my chest, I put my head between my knees.

"Katie?" Brian asks turning onto his side.
"Oh honey, don't cry." He says sitting up and scooting next to me.

"I can't help it." I say picking my head up.

"Come here." Brian says leaning me against his chest.

"I feel so responsible for today." I say.

"You can't help what you feel. But Katie, I swear to god, your not." Brian says.
"Nate's OK though, Jay didn't hurt him..." Brian says.

"I know...all he did was try to stop him from crying. He didn't do anything to hurt him, it was just my old instinct." I say.

"He's safe, isn't he?" Brian asks.

"I guess so." I say.
"Shit...I just remembered something I should do." I say.

"I'll do it." Brian says.

"No, it's something I have to do." I say.

"What could it possibly be?" Brian asks.

"I have to call Mom and Dad." I say.

"I thought you haven't talked to them in...forever." Brian says.

"I haven't, but I should tell them." I say.

"Well, if there IS anything I can do. Just ask." Brian says.

"Oh I will." I say.

"Ha...that's my Katie." Brian says.

"Yep." I say nuzzling my face to his chest and falling asleep.

The Next Day

"Hey, did you call yet?" Brian asks.

"No..." I say.

"Don't put it off too long, you'll NEVER do it." Brian says.

"Thats true..." I say

"Here you go." Brian says handing me the house phone.

"Oh fine." I say.

Let's see, what was my old house number...I forget. I get the phone book and look up Bell, I think that's it, it has my parents name's and address. I copy the number on a piece of paper and go back to the phone. I dial and wait.

"Hello?" Mom asks.

"Mom?" I ask.

"...Catlin?" She asks.

"Yeah it's me." I say.

"Why did you call sweetie. We haven't heard from you in years, hey why don't you come down here." Mom says.

"Well...um...Ok, but Mom..." I say.

"Ok, see you in a few." Mom says hanging up the phone.

"Did you tell them?" Brian asks.

"No...she didn't let me. Long story short, we're going over there." I say.

"Great..." Brian says.

"That's what I say too, they have no clue about Jay." I say.

"Man, I hate bringing bad news." Brian says.

"Me too, but we have to do it." I say.
