Salty & Sweet

His cloudy emerald eyes stared at my tear-streaked cheeks, occasionally brushing one aside but for the most part they rained on him, on that godforsaken beautiful face. He did not try to calm the tremors ensuing through my body, nor did he speak for what felt like ages. It was only until the very end did his warm voice bless my ear, but what I heard helped not. If anything, it made this so much worse.

“Raxle,” he croaked, sending me a wounded grin. “I wish…that we had more time together. And I wish that you…never left. Why…did you leave? Raxle…I love you. Got it…memorized?”

And as he disappeared from my grasp, a scream echoed through the endless darkness.
