From Day One

Prologue

“I Didn't think there would be this many people.” I said as I leaned into his chest. We stood in the living room area surrounded by tons of people. Tonight was the annual family summer party that the O'Callaghan's threw. We stood right next to each other, with his arms around me. It felt like everyone's eyes were on us and smile up at us. I couldn't help but to be happy and to smile back. It felt like everything in my life was coming together and it felt good.

“Well your mother knows how to put on a party, that’s for sure.” We looked over at his mother who had a glass of champagne in her hand as she talked and laughed with a group of her girl friends.

“I'm going to go get another beer, do you want anything?” I looked at my cup and shook my head.

“No I'm good.” He leaned down and gave me a small peck on my lips. I smile up at him as he left me at our spot. I walked off to find our friends who were scattered around the house.

“Oh Rosie you look so hott.” I started to laugh once I heard her voice. I turned around and saw my best friend Krystal, I gave her a pose as if I was model. She then came closer and grabbed me into a hug.

“Aw thanks Krys, you look very dressed up also, that’s like a first.” Krystal wasn't much of a girlie girl. She'd rather wear her jeans, a tee shirt and her converse. She was a beautiful girl but she just never grew up as a barbie doll, unlike me. My family was the family that would dress up for all occasions, even if we were just going to the mall or the grocery store, we dressed to impress.

“Yeah well I thought it'd be weird to come in my basketball shorts and flip flops.” I just laughed and shook my head. “I'm sorry I'm not miss pink and perfect like you.”

“Hey trust me I'd rather be in moccasins then these babies.” we both looked at my black high heels that were killing my feet.

“So wheres your man?” I looked around the room and saw no sight of him.

“He's around here some where. Probably found the boys.” I rolled my eyes and smiled. John loved his friends who were also his band mates. He cared for them and would do anything for them. When John and I met, he knew exactly how to make me smile even though we were just meeting. He was so friendly and outgoing.

As we kept talking about our lives, trying to catch up on each other we heard everyone get quiet and music start playing.

“Do you hear that?” I asked.

“It sounds like its coming outside.”

We moved through all the people and found our way outside. We saw John, Jared and Kennedy sitting on stools with their guitars. John's eyes found their way to mine and his smile grew. He waved me to come closer, so I grabbed Krystal's hand and brought her with me.

“Well, you walked into the room just like the sun,” John sang out, his eyes were still one mine and everyone was looking between me and him. I felt Krystal squeeze my hand and I looked over at her with a huge smile on my face. I looked back at John and watch as he sang his heart out. I looked over at the two other boys playing their guitars and going along with John.

“Oh, pretty love, don't worry, with me, you don't need a place to hide, so just sit real still, and the light will flood in over the hills.”

I couldn't help but to start to cry, I was just happy to be with such an amazing guy. He was everything I wanted and needed in a guy. He was more than my boyfriend he was my best friend and that's all I could ask for.

“And you were standing on top of tip-toes, in the kitchen as the water starts to boil, and as we removed each others clothes, I thought I would sing some notes, so that maybe you would slow dance with me.” His eyes landed back on mine and he gave me a small smile and I smiled back at him.

They finished the song and John stood up from the stool he was sitting on and waved me over.

“Come here hon.” I obeyed and walked over and grabbed his hand which was reached out for me to take.

He wiped my tears away and kissed the top of my forehead. He told me that he loved me and I said it back.

“So I sang that song for this beautiful girl next to me.” He looked down at me and back up to everyone who was outside surrounding us. “When I heard this song for the first time, I saw this girl in one of my white wife beaters and her underwear, were they blue or purple hon?” I slapped his shoulder and everyone laughed with us. “I'm pretty sure they were purple, anyways, she was dancing around her art room with paint smudges covering me whole body, and she was sing to this love song.” I smiled at the thought of that day he was talking about. I had a huge project due the next day for my painting class and I hadn't started on my canvas, but once I got into my focus I went all out. Everything was covered in paint including myself. “And at that moment when I saw her care free fun side, I knew she was the one I wanted to marry.” He looked back down at me and noticed that small tears in my eyes. My heart was beating and my stomach dropped. I was getting nervous and I was scared and excited for what was coming next. “So Rose Erin Jacobs will you marry me?” and once I knew it he was on his knee, with hand opening up a box showing me a beautiful diamond ring. Tears were strolling down my face by now and I gasped when he asked me. I started to nod my head because nothing was coming out of my mouth.

“Y-Yes, of course.” He stood and put the ring on my ring finger. He grabbed me into a hug and then gave me a kiss on the lips.

Everyone around us started to clap and let out awe’s. I looked at them and showed of my ring finger. Krystal came up to me and grabbed my hand and looked at the diamond ring.

I saw my mother who flew in with my father the night before. John insisted that they should come but I didn't think anything of it. I ran over to her and yelled, “I'm getting married mom.” I said in excited and hugged her.

“Let me see the ring.” I showed it off and she was blown away.

“Oh mine, well look at that. He's defiantly a keeper in my books.” she gave me a wink and turned to her friends and started to talk. I went back to John and wrapped my arms around him.

“I love you so much John.”

“I love you too.”

Through out the rest of the night everyone came up to us and congratulated us. Everyone grabbed at my hand and looked at the ring. My face started to hurt from all smiling I was doing. I was so excited and happy and I was surprised that he did it but it felt so right. I couldn't explain what I was feeling.

We were in the living room talking to a bunch of people. John's aunt came in and he introduced me to her, everyone on his fathers side hadn't really met me since they all lived far away. Everyone who I met tonight, made me feel like I was already in the family. I saw John in all of them and that made me feel good.

“So how long have you guys known each other?” His aunt asked us. We looked at each other and smiled and let out a small laugh.

“Actually only for 5 years.” I said to her.

“How did you guys meet?”

“That's a crazy story.” John said.

“Aw I bet we'd love to hear it.” She said and a few other aunts and cousins all agreed.

“Well It all began in a coffee shop...”
