“She’s eating.” My mother didn’t sound confident. At least not from where I was standing, on the other side of the wall.

“No she isn’t. And if you are too blind to see it, I’m going to have to get her professional help.”

“Give it another month. I’m sure she’s fine.”

Such a lie.
