Shiver

The next time I woke up it was just my father, sitting next to me in a chair. “You’re going to spend some time away from home Anna.”

“What do you mean?”

“We are taking you some place where you can get help. They’ll get you to eat, and make sure you don’t kill yourself again. And you’ll even have time to talk about what happened.” My breath sped up, “It’ll be good for you.”

“You’re sending me to the crazy shack?!”

“Honey that’s not it at all.”

“I’m not crazy dad honest!” I pleaded as tears started to run down my face, “I’ll eat I swear. I won’t try anything again. Promise!”

“Darling-“

“Where’s Mom? She’ll tell you I’m not crazy.”

“Your mother is gone Anna.”

“What-“

“I’m sorry.” I could see the tears falling down his face, “I’m so so sorry.”

And so I did the thing I did best. I let the fog overtake me.
