“Did you see the bruise on his face?”

I looked over to my father, gripping Cameron’s hand in my own. Jake wrapped his arms around his back, “Yeah, wonder how that happened.”

Our head all slowly turned towards him, “Tell me you didn’t.” My father put his head in his hands but I could see the smile.

“See I could.” He brought his hands out and the knuckles of his left hand were bloody, “But you always taught me not to lie.”

“Good one!” Ian high-fived him and Cameron and I just shook our heads.

Things were looking up already.
