We Can Settle This Like Gentlemen or Meet Me out the Back to End It All and Start Again
Preface
Halle had never given much thought to how she would die. But as she was thrown carelessly into the dark, dank, and musty room, the different scenarios couldn’t help but float through her mind.
Halle curled up into a ball, her back against the wall as she wrapped her arms protectively around her legs, becoming as small as possible.
Would they shoot her?
Beat her?
Rape her?
She honestly wasn’t sure, but she was sure about one thing and one thing only.
Halle didn’t want to die, who did? At the young age of 20, no one. But she would rather die the worst possible death than live in a world where Conner wasn’t.
And that’s exactly what these men were threatening.
And as Halle leaned back against the wall, tilting her head up as if to talk to God, tears sprang up in her eyes.
She couldn’t make herself regret falling in love with Conner, because even though it brought her to almost certain death, it also brought her the happiest memories that she could ever ask for, and the best love that anyone could ever have.
And she would never, ever, regret that.
