Mend Me

Part Two

April 5th, 2011
Tuesday
Boston Theatre, Boston, MA
5:00 P.M.

David stood in one of his best suits outside the theater, waiting by the door where Zdeno and Tatiana would be meeting him. At least he was doing something other than playing hockey or sitting at home drinking. He saw Tatiana and Zdeno walk up. David smiled at Zdeno and said

“Ready for a few hours of complete boredom?” Tatiana gave him an irritated look and said

“Ballet is an amazing form of dance, and besides I’m here to support my friend Allison. She auditioned for the show and got in as a main part and she’s really excited about it, so when we see her afterward be nice and pretend you love ballet.” Zdeno and David gave each other looks of annoyance and followed Tatiana inside. They turned in their tickets and went inside. They had seats five rows from the front and David knew he’d be stuck sitting there for the night. Zdeno and David talked about their upcoming game with the Canadians when the show started and the lights dimmed and brightened on the stage. They continued to talk about how much they hated Carey Price when they realized the people around them were giving them annoyed looks and Tatiana shushed them loudly. They stopped talking and turned their focus onto the stage. The show began with male and female ballerina pairs meeting together in the center of the stage and dancing. David rolled his eyes and leaned his back against his seat wishing he was anywhere but here. He heard Tatiana whisper

“Oh look guys there’s Allie!” David looked up to see only one couple left on stage. He looked up at the girl dashing into the male dancers arms and twirling around on her tippy toes. She was absolutely striking. The beauty of her face, her petite body, and long elegant legs captivated his attention more then any woman ever had. He suddenly sat up in his seat and watched her dance around the stage. She wore a white ballerina dress and her dark brown hair was in a tight bun on the top of her head. When her dance was finished and she disappeared off stage he went back to being bored. But it wasn’t long before she was out again, gracing the stage with her beauty in a solo dance. The night was actually starting to look pretty good for him.

“That was an amazing show Tatiana,” he said sincerely when they left the theater. Tatiana laughed and said

“I’m glad someone appreciated it,” She turned her critical stare to her husband.

“Don’t look at me,” said Zdeno laughing.

“Allie should be out soon, I promised her I’d wait to see her.” They hung around the dressing room entrance for twenty minutes before she came out. Like before he was absolutely stunned by her exquisite beauty. She walked towards them with a smile on her pink lips, happy to see them. He stared at her as she hugged Tatiana mesmerized by her.

“Thanks so much for coming you guys, it means a lot to me. This was my first big show!”

“You did wonderfully,” said Tatiana. She handed her friend the large bouquet of roses she’d bought her. David suddenly felt empty handed, wishing he had flowers to give her. She then leaned forward and hugged Zdeno who congratulated her. Tatiana smiled at David and said

“Allie this is our friend David, he plays on the Bruins with Zdeno.” She smiled at him and David felt himself melt inside.

“I’m Allison,” she said offering her hand to shake. He was frozen for a second before he gently shook her hand and said

“I’m David, I loved the show. You were amazing.” She smiled and said

“Thanks David, I’m glad you liked it.” He kept his eye glued to her as she turned back to Tatiana and said

“I better get going, we have another show the night after tomorrow and I have to be up for practice.”

“Alright make sure you drop by and visit,” said Tatiana.

“I will I can’t wait to see Elliz.” And with that she was gone. He watched her walk down the street towards the nearby hotel all the dancers were staying at. The Charas began to walk away back to the parking garage. Tatiana noticed David wasn’t following them. He was still standing on the sidewalk looking after Allison.

“You coming?” she said.

“Oh ya,” said David tearing his gaze from her and catching up to Zdeno and his wife. He had to see Allison again.
