Amore Perdita.

There will always be that person in your life. That one person that you know is perfect for you, the one. What happens when you find them? Do you make your move or do you just leave it up to fate? If we’re supposed to be together, we will be.

“Garrett, are you going to drink?”

His crystal blue eyes looked away from the girl before turning his attention to his friend. “Nah man, you know I don’t drink.”

“You also don’t make moves.”

Garrett let out a laugh before nodding his head. “It’s different with her.”

John looked down at his naïve friend before letting out a laugh. “She’s just a girl?”

“That’s what I keep telling myself, but she’s more than that.”

“Then why don’t you let her know.”

“After the tour.”

John nodded his head before walking off. Garrett started over at the beautiful creature in front of him, watching her spin around with the brightest smile. Emma Jenks was the definition of perfect in Garrett’s eyes. Her long blond hair and shiny green eyes, she was gorgeous. He was in love from the first moment he set eyes on her.

“Nice shirt.”

Garrett felt his body jump from his body as he turned to face the girl out in front of him, his heart dropping into the gut of his stomach.

“W-what?” he stuttered with such nervousness.

Emma’s shiny green orbs were staring into his bluest blues with a smirk on her pink lips.

“Your shirt,” she said pointing to his Star Wars shirt. “I really like it.”

“Oh,” he said staring down at the shirt. “Thanks?” he questioned as the girl laughed staring into his eyes.

“Garrett, right?” she asked with that contagious smile of hers.

How the fuck does she know my name?

“Y-yeah,” he stuttered trying his best to act cool but that never helped Garrett. “How do you know my name?”

“I stalk the fuck out of you.”

Garrett’s eyes went wide as the girl kept with her stone faced expression. Suddenly a smile cracked her full lips as she shook her head with a laugh.

“I’m just kidding,” she said putting her hand on his chest.

Instantly the two felt it, that spark. Their eyes were burning into one another, both of their cheeks burning with redness and excitement. Emma pulled her hand away from his chest before letting out a small awkward laugh. Garrett was far too embarrassed to say a word or make any sudden movements.

“I was um-,” she said stumbling over her words as she stared into his eyes. “My brother is friends with you brother Trey,” she said moving her fingers from her chest to his body with an awkward laugh. “I mean, that’s how I know you.”

Garrett nodded his head with a smile on her lips as the girl looked just as nervous as he did. He watched her move her hands away before nodding her head in the most adorable way possible causing Garrett to smile bigger than he ever did.

“Well I think I’m done here,” she said throwing her arms up in the air. “I’m just going to,” she said with an awkward grin before pointing her finger in the opposite direction. “Go,” she said before turning her head in the opposite direction.

Garrett couldn’t help but to laugh, rather loud at that. Emma turned around to face him with red cheeks. He watched her put his hand on her hips with a shocked expression.

“Why are you laughing?”

“You’re just as bad at rambling as I am.”

“It’s a serious disease asshole.”

“I bet it is.”

Emma gave the boy a smile before nodding her head. “My friends are leaving.”

“Are you?”

“They’re my ride.”

Garrett watched as the group of girls ahead yelled her name over and over again with drunken giggles. Her green eyes turned back to his and all Garrett did was nod his head. She gave him a smile hoping he would say otherwise, but that wasn’t the case.

“You know, if you were to ask me out on a date I wouldn’t mine.”

Garrett felt his heart thump out of his chest. He looked over at the gorgeous girl in trance, trying to figure out if this was all made up in his head.

“What?”

“Aren’t you leaving on tour tomorrow?”

He nodded his head softly. “I am.”

“Then you will take me out on a date when you come back.”

“You actually want to go on a date with me?”

He watched as the girl let out a laugh before nodding her head. “I wouldn’t be asking if I did,” she said with a grin. “But I should get going; I’ll see you when you get back home.”

“Yeah,” he said with a laugh. “When I get back home,” he said with a blur of thoughts.

She lifted her hand up with a sly smile before turning and walking away. Just as she was going to exit out the door, there she stood with a smile. Garrett couldn’t help but to feel his heart leap out of his chest as he lifted his hand in a smile. He felt as though everything was right in his world, that everything that was once ordinary had completely gone from the window. He already wanted to come home before he ever left it.

“So we are close to home Garrett Nickelsen,” Pat spoke into the hairbrush. “You are a day away from finally going out with your dream girl that you wouldn’t shut up about for three months, how you feel?” he asked before throwing the microphone to his mouth.

Garrett let out a laugh before shaking his head. “I feel wonderful!”

"You know what they say, close to home far from ordinary."

"Who the fuck says that?"

Everyone turned to Jared waiting for an answer but all they got was a shrug. "New Mexicans, or whatever you call them."

"Literally know one says that," John said with a roll of his eyes as he gripped the steering wheel. "What the fuck does that even mean?"

"Well you see John, my good friend," he began placing a hand on Garrett's shoulder. "Little Gary here is close to home and the fact that he has a date is far from ordinary."

"Whatever."

Garrett turned to the sign watching as the Welcome to Arizona sign caught his eyes. He was so close yet he felt so far. He just wanted to close his eyes. The more he got to sleep the faster the night would go. He sat there anxious, his knee bouncing up and down as his head was rested against the cold window. There she was her beautiful smile. He still remembers the first day he set eyes on her.

“Really guys,” Garrett rolled his eyes as the knocking continued at their front door. “You couldn’t get off your ass and answer the door?”

“That’s what we got you for.”

Garrett rolled his eyes before walking past the two of them and making his way to the door, hoping to god that it wasn’t a holy roller selling bibles. When he pulled the door open he was met with the most beautiful girl he had ever set eyes on. He felt his heart quicken as his voice was stuck in his throat.

“Um hi,” she said softly tucking her blond hair before her eyes. “Is Adam here?”

“Um-,” Garrett stuttered looking down at her Star Wars shirt. “Umm Adam?” he repeated sounding like a complete idiot.

“Adam Jenks, I think he’s friends with your-“

“Baby sister!” he heard Adam yell from the living room. “Come on in and get your ass pounded to some Halo.”

“Oh bring it bitch,” she yelled before looking back up at Garrett. “Could I come in?”

Garrett nodded his head before moving to the side letting the girl come in. She entered their house with his heart in her hand.

“Tell us how your date goes!”

Garrett nodded his head as he dragged his things from the car stumbling to his house, noticing the lights on in the living room. He walked into his house only to see his brother sitting on the couch. Suddenly all the bags from Garrett’s body dropped to the floor as a smirk was placed on his lips.

“Missed me that much Trey?”

Garrett watched as Trey’s eyes looked up from the cellphone in his hand before turning to Garrett, red eyed. Garrett felt his heart beating out of his chest as the only thoughts going through his head were his parents and if they were okay.

“What’s going on?”

Garrett made his way to the couch sitting down next to his brother. “Um, I don’t know how to say this,” he said with his voice cracking. “That was Adam,” he said through tears.

“Is Mr. and Mrs. Jenks okay?”

He nodded his head swallowing back the tears. “It’s Emma,” he said as Garrett felt his heart pounding. “She was in a very bad car accident,” he said looking down at his feet unsure of how to say this.

Garrett stood up from the couch with such anger. “Tell me she’s okay.”

“The car turned over twice.”

“Tell me she’s okay Trey.”

“She was brought back to the hospital and they performed surgery,” he said finally turning to look at his older brother. “She didn’t make it.”

Garrett’s world spun out of control. His heart was frozen as the memories of Emma crossed his head. He didn’t know how he was supposed to act as he sat there, listening to her friends and family talk about her. Garrett had barely known her, he sure as hell wanted to. All those chances had gone to waste. As he made his way to say his goodbye with a red flower in hand, he didn’t even know what he favorite flower was. The thoughts running through his head were driving him crazy. The thoughts of what could have been were driving him crazy. All those time he pushed off the flirting, the talking was now regretted. He looked up at the sky with tears building up at the rims of his eyes.

“I’m so sorry,” he found himself say. “I’m sorry I never got the nerve to tell you all the beautiful things I think of you,” he said before placing the flower down on the grown feeling his heart buried 6 feet under.

There Garrett was back home in Arizona. When he had left it seemed that everything was finally back in place. His friends were all the same, his family, Emma was still alive and Garrett was the happiest he had ever been. But as he returned back home, everything had completely changed. There will always be that person in your life. That one person that you know is perfect for you, the one. What happens when you find them? Do you make your move or do you just leave it up to fate? If we’re supposed to be together, we will be. Emma Jenks was a young a beautiful girl, Garrett had always thought he would have more time. But time was taken away from him along with the ordinary life that he had planned out in his head with Emma Jenks.

“I just thought we had more time.”
