Personal Soldier

I will find a reserve...

The lights started to dim as the sound of screaming girls filled the theatre. I looked around at the sea of bodies jumping, screaming, crying.
Intro music began to play as the screaming grew louder and louder.
Here I stood, by the side of the stage with merch to sell but nobody would even give me a second glance, I knew that.
The moment you're about to see your favourite band on stage is one that is treasured forever. The excitement, the rush. That feeling of hopelessness as a sense of panic takes over your body. You're not sure what to expect.
What if it's everything you hoped? What if it's a disappointment?
None of that matters as it slips subconsciously out of your mind. That moment when they appear for the first time in front of you. All those different feelings rushing through your body. The adrenaline surrounding you is sky high as everyone else in the room experiences the same thing.
This, this is what was happening right in front of me.
There was a sudden flash as the red curtain dropped to the floor.
As I tried to readjust my eyes to the normal light, there they stood, One Direction.
The fans were going berserk. The balcony looked like it was about to cave in.
I started to laugh as the girls stood beside me nearly fainted when they realised the boys were on stage.

I stood and watched the boys performing whilst occasionally selling the odd piece of merch to a parent who had obviously been sent up by their children when they didn't want to miss anything.
I couldn't help but stare at Liam. He was looking more flawless than I'd remembered. His voice sending shivers down my spine with every note he sang.
The music stopped and the boys announced that they'd be taking a short break. The lights came up and the smiles on everyone's faces were contagious. I heard a shuffle coming from the curtain next to me.
"Luce, the boys want you. I'll take over here" he smiled.
"Alright, thanks" I smiled sweetly. The thoughts running through my head however, weren't so sweet. What did they want? Probably called me back because they wanted water or something. How hard is it to get it yourself!?
Standing outside the white painted door, I took a deep breath. I guess it's my job afterall.
Opening the door I walked in to find Liam sitting on his phone.
"Erm...you needed me?" I smiled
"The boys and I were wondering if you wanted to, erm, maybe come out with us for a drink after the show tomorrow?" he stuttered.
He was so cute when he was nervous.
"I'd love to but I'm actually not working at all tomorrow." I said, trying not to seem bothered at the fact I had to turn down the chance.
"Aww okay. That's fine. Erm, I, I've got to go get ready" he smiled, making a quick exit for the door.
For the first time in my life, I wish I didn't have a day off.
