Torn between man and bear, Kynri must try to hold himself together as he travels across his barren country with a girl he thinks he knows. Set upon by foreign invaders, bandits, and a group of strange men eager to kill him, he must protect himself and the girl, forcing him to use the power he has deemed forbidden. Not only that, but the girl is not who he thinks she is, keeping secrets from him that their lives could soon depend on.
