Uncharted

Interruption

My eyes managed to flutter open around 4 am the next morning. At first, I was at a loss for where I was. It wasn't until a familiar arm slid slowly around me that I seemed to remember. I was at Jonathan's. Part of me didn't remember falling asleep, but I figure it was due to how upset I had been right before being pulled to his bed.

I tried my hardest to make my eyes close again, but I knew I wouldn't find sleep again. For the first time, laying in bed with Jonny didn't feel right to me. Something about having his arm around me just felt wrong.

I watched the time on the clock tick by until it hit 4:37. That was finally the point where I couldn't just lay there any longer. Slowly and quietly, I slid out from under his arm and out of the bed. I practically tiptoed out of his bedroom and close the door with a quiet click behind me.

Staying until the morning seemed like it was completely out of the question. I had to leave, and I had to leave before he woke up himself. As I made my way towards the front door where my shoes had been drying, it hit me that I still didn't have the clothes I had worn over here.

"Shit..." I muttered, looking back towards the stairs I had just snuck down. My clothes were hanging in his bathroom drying.

As much as I wanted to turn back and get them, I couldn't. Instead, I slipped my feet into my shoes, which definitely didn't match the hoodie and shorts I was wearing. Yanking the front door open, I made my way to my car, pulling away from Jonny's house.

"No, no. I need you over there! How do none of you know where to go?!"

I was losing my patience, and quickly. It seemed like nobody at this wedding knew where they were supposed to be. Not only that, but every time I turned around, the bride had another issue that I needed to tackle. Between the two, I was about to walk out the door right then and there.

"I need help with my hair, Bailey!" the bride shrieked as I walked passed her dressing room.

I felt myself stop in my tracks and clench my fist. "You have a hairdresser for a reason," I spat in her direction. "I have to go and track down one of the groomsm..."

"Am I not the one paying you?" Her voice seemed so condescending.

Those words sent me over the edge. I raised my hand and opened my mouth, ready to rip this selfish little girl apart when I felt a hand land on my shoulder. Turning my head, I was relieved to see it was Brooke standing next to me. "You're phone's been ringing like crazy," she said, handing me my cell. "Go take care of it and I'll handle this."

I mouthed the words "thank you" before taking my phone and sneaking away for a moment. Without Brooke, I probably would have just lost my job for going off on my client. I made my way through the church and pushed my way through the front door and out into the cool air. My eyes travelled down to my phone seeing that I had about six missed calls.

"What...?" I mutter, taking a closer look. All of them are from Jonny. I noticed that he had left two different voicemails. "Sorry Jonny, I don't have time for this," I muttered towards the phone, ignoring all of the notifications and turning to go back inside.

Brooke had managed to fix the hair problem, and I had found a way to hunt down the missing groomsman, who was actually so drunk he couldn't stand on his own two feet. Thankfully, I was able to steal another of the groom's friends to take his place. We barely had time to get him dressed and looking presentable before they were calling for everyone to start lining up.

I took my place at the back of the church and watched as everyone began to file inside. This was the easy part, at least for me. All of my work was officially done, and the rest of it was up to the bride and groom. The only thing I had left to do was scan the room for anything that could possibly go wrong, and I had a feeling nothing was about to go wrong.

Inside my pocket, my phone began buzzing yet again. It was masked by the organ playing as the bride walked down the aisle. Quickly, I ignored the call. Part of me was worried, since Jonny rarely ever persisted this much...at least not all at once.

As the ceremony started, I couldn't help but feel proud of myself for the wedding I had helped put together. Even though the bride had been nothing but a pain in my ass, she knew what would look good. The sanctuary was perfect. Everything looked amazing, and I had to make a mental note to take pictures before the crews began to tear it all down. Again, my phone began buzzing, but this time I wasn't nearly as lucky for it to go unnoticed. Many heads turned in my direction, and I could feel my face go scarlet.

I felt my jaw clench as I slipped out of the sanctuary. Pulling the phone out of my pocket, I pressed it to my ear quickly. "What? I'm in the middle of a wedd..."

"Sara's having her baby...now!"
